Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 10

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did quite well last week with one perfect prediction, seven correct outcomes and two incorrect outcomes which saw me move up to second place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My choice of Erling Haaland as my captain paid off to some degree last week, but not having Mohamed Salah in my team really hurt my overall rank and I fell down the rankings a little. It’s not going to be easy to get Salah in and the only way I can see it happening at the moment is to sell Haaland which is also a big risk. Haaland will probably be my captain again this week, but it’s difficult to see him doing better than Salah or possibly even Ollie Watkins.

Besides Haaland I also got points from Kieran Trippier, Bukayo Saka, Bruno Fernandes, James Maddison, Jarrod Bowen and Julian Alvarez, but leaving Konstantinos Tsimikas on my bench was not a good move. I could take a four point hit to bring Salah in which would see me sell Fernandes and Haaland and bringing Watkins in too, but it’s definitely a risky strategy.

Friday October 27

Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur

8pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace lost 4-0 away to Newcastle last week and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table on goal difference. They have taken five points from their last three home games and they kept clean sheets in the last two. The defeat against Newcastle was only their second defeat in seven games, but only Bournemouth have scored less goals.

Joachim Anderson is the Palace player who can do well for fantasy managers and they have a good run of games coming up after this one.

Spurs won 2-0 at home to Fulham last week to remain unbeaten and move two points clear at the top of the table. They have taken 11 points from their five away games and no other team has scored more goals on the road. They’re one of two teams still unbeaten and they have kept clean sheets in their last two games.

Son Heung-Min and James Maddison are in great form for fantasy managers while the Spurs defenders and keeper are doing pretty well too.

I think Palace will be difficult to beat at home and they might just get a point in this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Saturday October 28

Chelsea v Brentford

12.30pm BST, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea conceded two late goals to draw 2-2 at home to Arsenal last week, but that point was enough to move them into the top half of the table. They have only won once in their five home games, but they will be very hopeful of getting their second home win in this game. They have taken seven points and scored eight goals in their last three games, but they have a very tough run of games coming up after this one.

Raheem Sterling is the Chelsea player most likely to perform for fantasy managers with Cole Palmer an option too, but they have a tough run of games coming up.

Brentford won 3-0 at home to Burnley last week to put an end to a run of seven games without a win and move up to 14th place. They have taken four points from their four away games and only Arsenal have conceded less goals on their travels. No other team has drawn more games and no other team in the bottom half of the table has scored more goals.

Bryan Mbeumo, Mathias Jensen and Yoane Wissa are all doing reasonably well for fantasy managers at a good price.

I think Chelsea’s revival will continue with them taking all three points in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Arsenal v Sheffield United

3pm BST, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal scored two late goals to draw 2-2 away to Chelsea last week, but that point meant they fell two points behind the table toppers. They have only kept one clean sheet in their five home games and it was their home form which cost them the title last season. They’re one of two teams still unbeaten with only City conceding less goals.

Bukayo Saka is the must have Arsenal player for fantasy managers with Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard good choices too while their defenders and keeper are also worth considering.

United lost 2-1 at home to Manchester United last week to leave them rooted to the foot of the table with just a single point. They’re the only team without a point away from home and no other team has scored less goals on the road. They have lost their last five games and they conceded 17 goals in those games with no other team conceding more goals and only Bournemouth scoring less.

I can’t see any United players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable home win in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Bournemouth v Burnley

3pm BST, Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth

Bournemouth lost 2-1 at home to Wolves last week and they’re only being kept off the bottom of the table by Sheffield United. They’re one of four teams without a home win and no other team has scored less goals on their own ground. They have lost their last four games and they have only scored two goals in their last five with no other team scoring less goals.

Despite Bournemouth’s poor league position Dominic Solanke is still doing very well for fantasy managers.

Burnley lost 3-0 away to Brentford last week and they’re only one point and one place ahead of Bournemouth going into this game. They have taken all four of their points so far away from home, but no other team has scored less goals on their travels. They have lost four of their last five games and they failed to score in three of those games with only Sheffield United conceding more goals and only Bournemouth scoring less.

Lyle Foster is the only Burnley player who has made any impression for fantasy managers, but it’s probably best to avoid their players.

This is a huge game for two teams in the bottom three and I think they will both have to settle for a share of the spoils.

Prediction: 1-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Newcastle United

5.30pm BST, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 away to Bournemouth last week and they’re now only one point off the top half of the table. Their four home games so far have all come against teams who finished in the top eight last season and their next two home opponents fit the same bill. They have taken eight points from their last four games, but only the bottom four teams have conceded more goals.

Pedro Neto and Hwang Hee-Chan are both looking very good for fantasy managers at the moment and they’re both available at a very good price.

Newcastle won 4-0 at home to Palace last week and they have moved up to sixth place. They have taken four points from their last two away games after losing their first two with only Spurs scoring more goals on the road. They have taken 13 points from their last five games after losing the previous three and no other team has scored more goals.

Kieran Trippier and Anthony Gordon are the Newcastle players to have for fantasy managers while their other defenders and keeper aren’t looking too bad either.

I think Newcastle should have just enough to take the three points in this game, but Wolves will push them all the way.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday October 29

West Ham United v Everton

1pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham lost 4-1 away to Villa last week and that defeat saw them drop back to ninth place. Their only home defeat so far came against last season’s champions and they have a good run of home games coming up. They have only won once in their last five games and they conceded 12 goals in those games, but this game is the start of a favourable run of fixtures.

Jarrod Bowen is the West Ham player who can make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Everton lost 2-0 away to Liverpool last week and they’re still only three points above the relegation zone. They have taken more points and scored more goals away from home than they have at home. They have taken six points from their last four games, but they just can’t seem to open up a comfortable gap on the bottom three.

I can’t see any Everton players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

I think West Ham will get back on track with a win in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Aston Villa v Luton Town

2pm BST, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa won 4-1 at home to West Ham last week and they’re only one point and one place off the top four. They have won all four of their home games and no other team has scored more goals on their own patch. They have taken 13 points from their last five games with only Newcastle scoring more goals.

Ollie Watkins is a must have for fantasy managers at the moment with Douglas Luiz, Matty Cash and Moussa Diaby all in good form too.

Luton came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 away to Forest last week to move one point above the bottom three. They have taken four of their five points away from home, but no other team has conceded more goals on the road. They have taken five points from their last five games after failing to take any from their first four with only Bournemouth scoring less goals.

Carlton Morris is the only Luton player for fantasy managers to even consider.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Villa win in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Brighton And Hove Albion v Fulham

2pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton lost 2-1 away to City last week and they have now slipped to seventh place in the table. They have taken 10 points from their five home games with only Villa scoring more goals on their own ground. They have only taken one point from their last three games and only the bottom three have conceded more goals, but their next four opponents are all in the bottom eight.

Kaoru Mitoma is the best bet in the Brighton team for fantasy managers at the moment.

Fulham lost 2-0 away to Spurs last week, but they’re still only one point off the top half of the table. They have only won once in their five away games with only Sheffield United and Burnley scoring less goals on their travels. They have only won two of their last eight games and they are in the middle of a very tough run of games at the moment.

I’m not sure there are any Fulham players doing enough to tempt fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Brighton will get a much needed win in this game with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-1

Liverpool v Nottingham Forest

2pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool won 2-0 at home to Everton last week to stay three points behind the pacesetters at the top of the table. They have won all four of their home games and no other team has conceded less goals on their own patch. The win against Everton was their first win in three games, but I would be surprised if they don’t win their next three games starting with this one.

Mohamed Salah is an absolute must have for fantasy managers at the moment with Konstantinos Tsimikas a very well priced option while Andy Robertson is injured.

Forest led 2-0 at home to Luton last week, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw and that point moved them a healthy six points clear of the relegation zone. They have already played four of the big six away from home and their away fixtures will improve after this game. They have drawn four of their last five games with no other team drawing more games.

Anthony Elanga and Chris Wood showed they can do well for fantasy managers last week as long as they can get game time.

I think Liverpool will keep up their pursuit of the leaders with a couple of goals to spare in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Manchester United v Manchester City

3.30pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United won 2-1 away to Sheffield United last week to move up to eighth place. They have lost two of their four home games with only Sheffield United and Burnley scoring less goals on their own ground. Their have won three of their last four games, but no other team in the top half of the table has scored less goals.

Bruno Fernandes is still the United player most likely to do well for fantasy managers.

City won 2-1 at home to Brighton last week to move back up to second place and a win in this game could put them back on top of the table if Spurs don’t beat Palace. They have lost their last two away games, but only Spurs and Newcastle have scored more goals on the road. Four of their next five games are against other teams in the big six and we will get to see if they are up to their standards of last season after those games.

Erling Haaland might not be at his best for fantasy managers at the moment, but he’s still a great choice along with Julian Alvarez and Phil Foden.

I think this will be a close game, but City’s firepower should make the difference for them.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
