Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 12

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too badly last week with one perfect prediction, five correct outcomes and four incorrect outcomes which saw me climb one place to fourth in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My choice of Erling Haaland as my captain last week didn’t work out for me as he failed to get off the mark for the first time this season. With no game for City or Arsenal this week I’ll have to consider my options carefully for my choice of captain this week. Besides Haaland not getting me any points last week I was helped by a good return from Ivan Toney, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Kieran Trippier and Gabriel Magalhaes which saw my team improve their overall rank slightly.

Tuesday October 18

Brighton And Hove Albion v Nottingham Forest

7.30pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton lost 2-0 away to Brentford last week and they’re now six points off the top four. They lost their last home game against Spurs, but they took seven points from their other three home games and no other team has conceded less goals on their own ground. They have only taken one point from their last three games since Graham Potter left, but this game gives them a great chance to get their first win under their new manager.

Leandro Trossard, Pascal Gross and Alexis MacAllister could all do very well for fantasy managers in this game.

Forest lost 1-0 away to Wolves last week and that defeat saw them drop to the foot of the table again. They have only taken one point from their five away games with only Leicester taking less points on the road and only Leicester and Bournemouth conceding more goals. They have only taken one point from their last seven games and they conceded 20 goals in those games with only Leicester conceding more goals and only Wolves scoring less.

I can’t see any Forest players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Brighton will get a much needed win in this game with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 2-0

Crystal Palace v Wolverhampton Wanderers

8.15pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace drew 0-0 away to Leicester last week and they’re now only two points above the bottom three. They have taken seven points from their last four home games and they have a good run of home games coming up. They have only won once in their last six games, but they have a good run coming up in their next seven games.

Wilfried Zaha is the Palace player most likely to score points for fantasy managers, but he hasn’t done much in recent games.

Wolves won 1-0 at home to Forest last week and that win moved them out of the bottom three within one point of Palace. Only Leicester have taken less points away from home and no other team has scored less goals on the road. They beat Forest after losing their previous three games without scoring and no other team has scored less goals.

Jose Sa and Max Kilman are the Wolves players who can do well for fantasy managers over the next few weeks while Nathan Collins should be considered too now that he’s back from suspension.

I think this will be a low scoring game with Palace probably winning narrowly.

Prediction: 1-0

Wednesday October 19

Bournemouth v Southampton

7.30pm BST, Vitality Stadium. Bournemouth

Bournemouth drew 2-2 away to Fulham last week and that point was just enough to keep them in the top half of the table. Their only home defeat so far came against the league leaders with only Leeds and Brighton conceding less goals on their own ground. They’re unbeaten in six games, but they drew four of those games and only the bottom two have conceded more goals.

Both Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke have done very well recently for fantasy managers.

Southampton drew 1-1 at home to West Ham last week, but they slipped into the bottom three as other results went against them. They have lost their last three away games without scoring while only Wolves and Forest have scored less goals on their travels. The point against West Ham was their first point in five games and only four other teams have conceded more goals.

I can’t see any Southampton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be a close game and current form suggests Bournemouth will take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

Brentford v Chelsea

7.30pm BST, Brentford Community Stadium, London

Brentford won 2-0 at home to Brighton last week and that win kept them in the top half of the table. They have taken 10 points from their five home games with only four other teams scoring more goals at home. The win against Brighton was only their second win in eight games, but they have a good run of games after this one.

Ivan Toney showed yet again why he is the Brentford player for fantasy managers to own.

Chelsea won 2-0 away to Villa last week to strengthen their position in the top four. Despite losing twice away from home already only Arsenal have taken more points on the road. They have won their last four games and they scored nine goals in those games while only conceding two.

Mason Mount looks like he’s the Chelsea player to own for fantasy managers with their defenders and keeper looking good too.

I think this will be a close game with Chelsea probably winning by a single goal.

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v West Ham United

7.30pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool won 1-0 at home to City last week to put an end to City’s unbeaten start to the season and keep themselves in the top half of the table. They’re still unbeaten at home with only City scoring more goals on their own patch. They have a good run of games coming up before the World Cup and only the top three have scored more goals.

Mohamed Salah showed against City that he might just be on the way back to his best for fantasy managers and Roberto Firmino has done well recently too.

West Ham drew 1-1 away to Southampton last week and they’re only two points off the top half of the table as they slowly recover from their poor start to the season. They have only won once away from home with only Wolves and Forest scoring less goals on their travels. They have taken seven of their 11 points in their last three games, but they have some tough games coming up.

Jarrod Bowen could be the West Ham player to interest fantasy managers, but maybe not in this game.

I think West Ham will make a game of it, but Liverpool will take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

Newcastle United v Everton

7.30 pm BST, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle drew 0-0 away to United last week and that point kept them within touching distance of the top four. They’re still unbeaten at home, but no other team has drawn more games on their own ground. They have only lost one game so far, but they have drawn more games than any other team.

Kieran Trippier, Fabian Schar and Nick Pope are all doing very well for fantasy managers while Miguel Almiron, Bruno Guimaraes and Callum Wilson are worth considering too.

Everton lost 2-0 away to Spurs last week and they’re now only two points above the relegation zone. They have taken as many points away from home as they have at home so far, but they have a reasonable run of away games coming up. They have lost their last two games after winning the previous two with only three other teams scoring less goals.

I’m not sure there are any Everton players to interest fantasy managers, but they have a good run of games coming up and Conor Coady might not be the worst choice.

I think Newcastle should be good enough to take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Manchester United v Tottenham Hotspur

8.15pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United drew 0-0 at home to Newcastle last week and that point was enough to keep them in fifth place. They have taken seven points from their last three home games with only Leeds and Brighton conceding less goals at home. They have taken 16 points from their last seven games, but they have two very tough games in a row starting with this one.

If he’s fit to play Anthony Martial is looking good for fantasy managers while Antony and Marcus Rashford are worth considering too.

Spurs won 2-0 at home to Everton last week and they’re now only behind second placed City on goal difference. They have only won two of their five away games, but they will fancy their chances in this game. They have won their last two games since losing to Arsenal and they will move up to second place if they don’t lose this game.

Harry Kane is in fantastic form for fantasy managers while Eric Dier, Hugo Lloris and Pierre-Emile Hojberg are doing quite well too.

I think Spurs might just be perfectly set up to take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Thursday October 20

Fulham v Aston Villa

7.30pm BST, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham drew 2-2 at home to Bournemouth last week and they’re only one point off the top half of the table. They have only lost one of their five home games, but no other team has conceded more goals at home. They have only taken one point from their last three games and they conceded nine goals in those games, but their next three games are all against teams below them in the table.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Fulham player to have for fantasy managers with Andreas Pereira doing pretty well too.

Villa lost 2-0 at home to Chelsea last week and they’re now only one point above the relegation zone. They haven’t won away from home yet with only Wolves and Forest scoring less goals on the road. Only the bottom two have won less games so far and only Wolves have scored less goals.

I can’t see any Villa players to recommend to fantasy managers as long as they continue to struggle in front of goal.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Leeds United

8.15pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester drew 0-0 at home to Palace last week and that point was just enough to move them off the foot of the table on goal difference. They have taken four points from their last two home games and they kept clean sheets in both of those games. No other team has lost more games or conceded more goals, but they play two of the other struggling teams in their next two games.

With James Maddison suspended I’m not sure there are any Leicester players to choose for fantasy managers this week.

Leeds lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal last week and they’re now only one point off the bottom three. Only Leicester have taken less points away from home and their next two away games after this are against Liverpool and Spurs. They have only taken two points from their last six games, but they have a good chance of getting something from this game.

Patrick Bamford and Rodrigo both have the potential to do quite well for fantasy managers once they can find some form.

I think Leeds might just have enough to get the better of a very close game.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
