Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 11

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too badly last week with one perfect prediction, five correct outcomes and four incorrect outcomes, but with others doing better I dropped to fifth place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My choice of Erling Haaland as my captain paid off yet again even if he didn’t score another hat trick and I can’t see a better option again this week. Kieran Trippier, Joao Cancelo, Wilfried Zaha and Ivan Toney all returned points for me too, but I lost a little ground overall. I could do with a really good week to improve my overall position and hopefully this will be the week I get it.

Friday October 14

Brentford v Brighton And Hove Albion

8pm BST, Brentford Community Stadium, London

Brentford lost 5-1 away to Newcastle last week and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table on goal difference. They have taken seven points from their four home games and they will need to keep doing well at home to steer clear of the relegation zone. They have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last three games and they conceded eight goals in those games with only four other teams conceding more goals.

Ivan Toney remains the Brentford player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers.

Brighton lost 1-0 at home to Spurs last week and that defeat saw them drop out of the top four into seventh place. They have taken seven points from their four away games with only four other teams taking more points on the road. They have only taken one point from two games since Graham Potter left, but they were both very tough games and this will be a real test of how they fare without him in charge.

Leandro Trossard, Pascal Gross and Alexis MacAllister have all done very well for fantasy managers and definitely need to be considered.

I think this will be a close game with Brighton probably winning by a single goal.

Prediction: 1-2

Saturday October 15

Leicester City v Crystal Palace

12.30pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester lost 2-1 away to Bournemouth last week week after leading 1-0 and that defeat saw them drop to the foot of the table again. They won their last home game 4-0 against Forest, but no other team has taken less points on their own ground and they need to change that very quickly. They have lost seven of their nine games and no other team has conceded more goals which has to put Brendan Rodgers under an awful lot of pressure.

Despite Leicester’s lowly position James Maddison is a very good choice for fantasy managers.

Palace came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Leeds last week and that win moved them three points clear of the bottom three. They have only taken one point from their three away games with only three other teams scoring less goals away from home. The win against Leeds was badly needed after only taking one point from their previous four games, but they have a very good run of games coming up.

Wilfried Zaha is still the Palace player most likely to get some points for fantasy managers with Eberechi Eze worth a shout too.

This isn’t an easy game to call and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.

Prediction: 2-2

Fulham v Bournemouth

3pm BST, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham lost 3-1 away to West Ham last week after taking the lead, but they managed to hold on to their place in the top half of the table. They have taken seven points from their four home games so far and their next three home games are all very favourable. They have lost three of their last four games and they conceded 11 goals in those games with only three other teams conceding more goals.

Aleksandar Mitrovic missed last week’s game through injury and he’s the best of the Fulham players for fantasy managers if he’s fit while Andreas Pereira is available at a good price and doing pretty well too.

Bournemouth came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Leicester last week and that win was enough to move them into the top half of the table. They have taken four points from two away games since Liverpool thrashed them, but only Leicester have conceded more goals on the road. They have taken nine points from five unbeaten games since that 9-0 defeat against Liverpool and they have even climbed above Liverpool in the table, but only the bottom two have conceded more goals.

Both Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke are doing quite well for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be a pretty close game with Fulham taking the three points as long as they can get Mitrovic back from injury.

Prediction: 2-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Nottingham Forest

3pm BST, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves lost 3-0 away to Chelsea last week and that defeat meant they stayed in the relegation zone. They have taken five of their six points at home, but no other team has scored less goals on their own patch. They have lost their last three games without scoring and they conceded eight goals in those games with no other team scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Wolves players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

Forest drew 1-1 at home to Villa last week and that point was just enough to lift them off the foot of the table. They have only taken one point away from home so far with only Leicester taking less points on the road and only Leicester and Bournemouth conceding more goals. The draw against Villa put an end to a run of five consecutive defeats, but only Leicester have taken less points and conceded more goals.

I can’t see any Forest players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment either.

I think Wolves might just get a much needed win in this game with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 2-0

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton

5.30pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs won 1-0 away to Brighton last week and that win kept them four points off the top of the table in third place. They’re one of three teams with a 100% record at home and four of their next six games are at home. They have only lost one of their nine games and only the top two have scored more goals.

Harry Kane is by far the best of the Spurs players for fantasy managers with Heung-Min Son worth considering too.

Everton led at home to United last week, but they ended up losing 2-1 and that defeat kept them in the bottom half of the table on goal difference. They have taken five points from their last three away games and only four other teams have conceded less goals on the road. The defeat against United was their first defeat in seven games, but they will do well to get anything from this game even though no other team has conceded less goals.

Everton’s defenders have done quite well for fantasy managers recently, but that might not be the case in this game.

I think Everton will make a game of it, but Spurs will take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunday October 16

Aston Villa v Chelsea

2pm BST, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa drew 1-1 away to Forest last week and they’re only one point off the top half of the table despite being only two places above the bottom three. Seven of their nine points have come at home, but only Wolves and Everton have scored less goals on their own patch. They’re unbeaten in four games after losing the previous three, but they drew three of those four games and only Wolves have scored less goals.

I’m not sure there are any Villa players doing enough to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

Chelsea won 3-0 at home to Wolves last week and that win was enough to move them back into the top four. They won their last away game after losing the previous two and they have struggled for goals away from home. They have won their last three games and they have a fairly good run of games coming up.

If Graham Potter is going to rotate his squad as much as he did last week it’s not easy to know which Chelsea players to choose for fantasy managers.

I think Chelsea will take advantage of Villa’s issues in front of goal to win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 0-2

Leeds United v Arsenal

2pm BST, Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds lost 2-1 away to Palace last week after leading 1-0, buy they’re still only one point off the top half of the table. They are still unbeaten at home with eight points from four games and no other team has conceded less goals on their own ground. They have only taken two points from their last five games and they will have their work cut out to keep their unbeaten home record in this game.

I’m not sure there are any Leeds players creating a good enough impression to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

Arsenal won 3-2 at home to Liverpool last week and that win was enough to keep them one point ahead of City at the top of the table. They have kept clean sheets in three of their four away games and no other team has taken more points or conceded less goals on the road. They have won eight of their nine games with only City scoring more goals and they have a good run of games coming up.

Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Jesus, Granit Xhaka and Martin Odegaard are all in great form for fantasy managers with the Arsenal defenders all doing quite well too.

I think Arsenal will hold on to their place at the top of the table by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

Manchester United v Newcastle United

2pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United came from behind to win 2-1 away to Everton last week week and they’re now up to fifth place. They have won their last two home games and they were against Liverpool and Arsenal. They have won five of their last six games, but this is the first of three tough games in a row.

If he’s fit to play Anthony Martial is looking good for fantasy managers with both Marcus Rashford and Antony worth considering too.

Newcastle won 5-1 at home to Brentford last week and that win moved them into the top six. Their only away defeat so far came against Liverpool and only Arsenal have conceded less goals away from home. They have won their last two games and they scored nine goals in those games with no other team conceding less goals.

Kieran Trippier remains the best of the Newcastle players for fantasy managers while Miguel Almiron has done well recently and Bruno Guimaraes looks like he might have found his form from last season again.

I think this will be a very close game and I think a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Southampton v West Ham United

2pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton lost 4-0 away to City last week and they’re only one place and one point above the bottom three. They have lost two of their last three home games and no other team has taken less points on their own patch. They have lost their last four games and they only scored one goal in those games with only four other teams conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Southampton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

West Ham came back from 1-0 down to win 3-1 at home to Fulham last week and they’re now only outside the top half of the table on goal difference. They have lost three of their four away games with only Wolves and Forest scoring less goals on the road. They have won their last two games to move clear of the bottom three and they should be in the top half of the table pretty soon.

Jarrod Bowen seems to have rediscovered his form from last season while Gianluca Scamacca could be worth considering too.

I think West Ham will put more pressure on Southampton by narrowly winning this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Manchester City

4.30pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool lost 3-2 away to Arsenal last week, but they managed to keep their place in the top half of the table on goal difference. They’re still unbeaten at home with only City scoring more goals on their own patch, but nine of those goals were in one game against Bournemouth. They have only won two of their eight games, but only the top two have scored more goals.

Roberto Firmino is the Liverpool player to have for fantasy managers at the moment while Mohamed Salah is always a good choice.

City won 4-0 at home to Southampton last week and that win kept them in second place one point behind Arsenal. They’re the only team unbeaten away from home and no other team has scored more goals on their travels. They have won their last three games and they scored 13 goals in those games with no other team scoring more or conceding less goals.

Erling Haaland is an absolute must have for fantasy managers while Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo are very good choices too.

I think Liverpool’s woes will continue with City getting the better of them in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
