Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 13

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I had a bad week in midweek with only three correct outcomes and six incorrect outcomes which saw me drop to fifth place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My choice of Harry Kane for my captain didn’t work out well for me and I’ll definitely be going back to Erling Haaland for the weekend games. Aleksandar Mitrovic, Kieran Trippier, Roberto Sanchez and Wilfried Zaha all got me some points, but yet again the failure of most of my team to get a meaningful return saw me lose a little bit of ground overall. The chances are I’ll take a four point hit to make a couple of changes to my team this week with Haaland obviously coming back in and Phil Foden probably being added too.

Saturday October 22

Nottingham Forest v Liverpool

12.30pm BST, City Ground, Nottingham

Forest drew 0-0 away to Brighton in midweek, but that point wasn’t enough to lift them off the foot of the table. They have only taken one point from their last four home games with no other team taking less points on their own ground. They haven’t won in their last nine games with only Leicester conceding more goals and only Wolves scoring less.

I can’t see any Forest players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Liverpool won 1-0 at home to West Ham in midweek and they’re now only four points behind the top four. They have only taken two points from their four away games, but this game gives them the ideal chance to get their first away win of the season. They won their last two games by the same 1-0 scoreline which might point to their defensive issues being solved and only the top two have scored more goals.

Mohamed Salah, Darwin Nunez and Roberto Firmino could all do very well for fantasy managers in this game.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool victory in this game.

Prediction: 0-3

Everton v Crystal Palace

3pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton lost 1-0 away to Newcastle in midweek and they’re now only one point above the bottom three. Only Forest have taken less points at home with no other team scoring less goals on their own patch. They have lost their last three games and they only scored one goal in those games, but they have a good run of games coming up.

I can’t see any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Palace came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Wolves in midweek and they’re now only one point off the top half of the table. They haven’t won away from home yet, but no other team has drawn more games on the road with only Forest and Wolves scoring less goals. They have taken seven points from their last three games and they have a very good run of games coming up.

Wilfried Zaha is still the Palace player most likely to do well for fantasy managers while Eberechi Eze isn’t a bad choice either.

I think this will be a very close game with a draw probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Manchester City v Brighton And Hove Albion

3pm BST, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City didn’t play in midweek, but they stayed in second place four points behind Arsenal. They have won all of their home games so far and no other team has scored more goals at home. They lost lost their unbeaten start to the season in their last game, but no other team has scored more goals with only Newcastle conceding less.

Erling Haaland is an absolute must have for fantasy managers while Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Joao Cancelo are very good choices too.

Brighton drew 0-0 at home to Forest in midweek in a game they should have won and they need to halt their slide down the table. They have only taken one point from their last three away games and they conceded seven goals in those games. They haven’t scored in three games and they haven’t won in four and they will do very well to get anything out of this game.

Despite doing very well until a few weeks ago Brighton players aren’t looking so good for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think City will put the disappointment of their defeat against Liverpool behind them and take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Chelsea v Manchester United

5.30pm BST, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea drew 0-0 away to Brentford in midweek and that point was enough to keep them in the top four. They have taken 10 points from their four home games with only Leeds and Brighton conceding less goals on their own ground. They have taken 13 points from their last five games and they haven’t conceded a goal in their last three with only Newcastle conceding less goals.

Chelsea’s defenders and keeper have done well recently for fantasy managers while Mason Mount has done very well too.

United won 2-0 at home to Spurs in midweek and they’re only one point behind Chelsea going into this game. They have won three of their last four away games with only Arsenal and Chelsea taking more points on the road. They have won six of their last eight games and they kept clean sheets in four them, but they did concede six goals to City during that run.

Diogo Dalot has done very well recently for fantasy managers and Marcus Rashford has the potential to do really well if he could just put away some of the chances he has being missing recently.

I think this will be a very close game with Chelsea most likely winning narrowly.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunday October 23

Aston Villa v Brentford

2pm BST, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa lost 3-0 away to Fulham in midweek and they would have dropped into the bottom three if they conceded another goal which eventually cost Steven Gerrard his job. They have only won once in their last four home games with only Wolves and Everton scoring less goals on their own ground. They have only won once in their last nine games and they failed to score in three of their last four with only Wolves scoring less goals.

I’m not sure there are any Villa players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Brentford drew 0-0 at home to Chelsea in midweek and that point kept them in the top half of the table. They haven’t won away from yet, but no other team has drawn more games on their travels. They have only won once in their last five games and they failed to score in three of those games, but only five other teams have scored more goals.

Ivan Toney remains the Brentford player of choice for fantasy managers with David Raya looking like a good choice at the moment too.

I think Villa’s woes will continue with Brentford winning this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Leeds United v Fulham

2pm BST, Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds lost 2-0 away to Leicester in midweek and they’re only above the relegation zone on goal difference. They lost their last home game against Arsenal and that was their first home defeat, but they have only scored one goal in their last three home games and no other team has conceded less goals at home. They have only taken two points from their last seven games and they failed to score in four of those games.

I can’t see any Leeds players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Fulham won 3-0 at home to Villa in midweek to hold on to their place in the top half of the table. They have lost three of their last four away games and their next away game after this is against City. They hadn’t won in three games before beating Villa and they conceded nine goals in those three games with only three other teams conceding more goals.

Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Fulham player to have for fantasy managers with Andreas Pereira worth considering too.

I think Leeds will get a badly needed win in this game, but only just.

Prediction: 2-1

Southampton v Arsenal

2pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton won 1-0 away to Bournemouth in midweek and that win moved them two points clear of the relegation zone. Only Forest have taken less points at home with only four other teams scoring less goals on their own patch. They had only taken one point from five games before beating Bournemouth and three of their next four games are against teams in the top six.

Despite their win at Bournemouth I’m not sure there are any Southampton players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

Arsenal didn’t play in the league in midweek, but they still maintained their four point lead at the top of the table. No other team has taken more points, scored more or conceded less goals on the road. They have won nine of their 10 games with no other team drawing less games while only City have scored more goals and only Newcastle have conceded less.

Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and all of Arsenal’s defenders are doing very well for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Southampton will make a game of it, but Arsenal will take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Leicester City

2pm BST, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves lost 2-1 away to Palace in midweek after leading and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom three. They have taken eight of their nine points at home with no other team scoring less goals on their own ground. They have lost four of their last five games and they only scored two goals in those games with no other team scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Wolves players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Leicester won 2-0 at home to Leeds in midweek and that win has moved them within one point of getting out of the relegation zone. They’re the only team without a point away from home and no other team has conceded more goals on their travels. They have taken seven points from their last four games and they kept clean sheets in three of those games.

James Maddison is the Leicester player who can make a difference for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United

4.30pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs lost 2-0 away to United in midweek and they missed the chance to go above City into second place. They’re one of three teams with a 100% record at home with only City scoring more goals on their own ground and only Brighton and Leeds conceding less. They have won four of their last six games, but the two games they lost were against other members of the big six.

Harry Kane remains the Spurs player to have for fantasy managers with Eric Dier, Pierre-Emile Hojberg and Son Heung-Min worth considering too.

Newcastle won 1-0 at home to Everton in midweek and they’re now only two points off the top four. They have only lost one game away from home, but no other team has drawn more games on the road with only Arsenal conceding less goals. They’re unbeaten in six games and they kept clean sheets in three of them with no other team conceding less goals.

Kieran Trippier and Miguel Almiron are the Newcastle players to have for fantasy managers at the moment with Nick Pope, Bruno Guimaraes and Fabian Schar good choices too.

I think this will be another very close game and the chances are it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Monday October 24

West Ham United v Bournemouth

8pm BST, London Stadium, London

West Ham lost 1-0 away to Liverpool in midweek to slow down their recent revival, but they will hope to get back on track in this game. They have won their last two home games, but only three other teams have taken less points at home. They had taken seven points from three games before losing to Liverpool, but only four other teams have scored less goals.

Jarrod Bowen is the West Ham player to have for fantasy managers despite the penalty he missed against Liverpool.

Bournemouth lost 1-0 at home to Southampton in midweek and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table. They have taken five points from their last three away games after conceding 13 in losing their first two away games with only Leicester conceding more goals on their travels. The defeat against Southampton was their first defeat in seven games and three of their next four games are against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Philip Billing and Dominic Solanke have both done well recently for fantasy managers and they’re at least worth considering.

I think West Ham will get back on track in this game, but they won’t have it all their own way.

Prediction: 2-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
