Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 15

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did reasonably well in the midweek games with one perfect prediction, four correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which leaves me still in third place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Mohamed Salah did the business yet again in midweek as my captain and I’ll be sticking with him until further notice (the African Cup of Nations). Emmanuel Dennis and Emile Smith-Rowe were the cut price options who performed well while Conor Gallagher didn’t return any extra points, but he’s still a good choice.

Saturday December 4

West Ham United v Chelsea

12.30pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham drew 1-1 at home to Brighton in midweek and that point was enough to keep them in the top four. They have taken seven points from their last three home games including wins against Liverpool and Spurs with only two other teams scoring more goals at home. They have only taken one point from their last three games and they only scored two goals in those games, but only the top three have scored more goals.

West Ham players haven’t done much for fantasy managers in recent weeks and I can’t see it changing in this game.

Chelsea won 2-1 away to Watford in midweek to maintain their narrow lead at the top of the table. They have taken 19 points from their seven away games with only Liverpool scoring more away goals and no other team conceding less. They have taken 20 points from their last eight games and they kept four clean sheets in those games with only Liverpool scoring more goals and no other team conceding less.

Chelsea’s defenders and keeper are all doing well well for fantasy managers, but it’s still not easy to pick any of their attacking players.

I think this will be a very close game with Chelsea probably winning by one goal.

Prediction: 1-2

Newcastle United v Burnley

3pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle drew 1-1 at home to Norwich on Tuesday night after playing most of the game with 10 men and they’re still stuck at the foot of the table. They’re the only team without a home win and no other team has taken less points or conceded more goals at home. They’re the only team without a win with no team ever avoiding relegation in the Premier League without a win at this stage and they have conceded more home goals than any other team so far this season.

Callum Wilson is the Newcastle player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers with Allan Saint-Maximin worth considering too.

Burnley drew 0-0 away to Wolves on Wednesday night, but they’re still in the relegation zone with three points to make up on seventeenth place. They’re one of two teams without an away win with only Newcastle taking less points away from home, but they have drawn their last three away games. They have only lost one of their last eight games, but they drew six of them with no other team drawing more games.

Maxwel Cornet looks like he could do a good job for fantasy managers while Chris Wood is a possibility too.

This looks like being another very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end all square.

Prediction: 1-1

Southampton v Brighton And Hove Albion

3pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton drew 2-2 at home to Leicester in midweek, but they’re now only two points above the bottom three. They have only lost one of their seven home games, but they drew four of them with no other team drawing more games at home. They have only taken one point in their last three games and they conceded eight goals in those games with only Norwich and Wolves scoring less goals.

Che Adams and Adam Armstrong are both worth considering for fantasy managers in a season where it’s been difficult to find any consistent strikers.

Brighton drew 1-1 away to West Ham in midweek, but they fell to ninth place as two of the teams below them overtook them. They have only lost one of their seven away games, but no other team has drawn more games on the road with only three other teams conceding less goals on their travels. They haven’t won in nine games, but they drew seven of them and no other team has drawn more games.

As I said for the midweek games Tariq Lamptey is probably the Brighton player most likely to score points for fantasy managers.

I don’t think there is too much between these two teams and the chances are the spoils will be shared in this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Liverpool

3pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves drew 0-0 at home to Burnley on Wednesday night, but they dropped two places to eighth as two of the teams below them won. They have taken 10 points from their last four home games and they kept clean sheets in their last two, but no other team has scored less goals at home. They have only scored one goal in their last four games, but they only conceded two and Norwich are the only team to have scored less goals while only the top two have conceded less.

Wolves defenders and keeper have looked very good for fantasy managers recently, but that could change over their next four games.

Liverpool won 4-1 away to Everton on Wednesday night to stay in third place two points behind Chelsea. Only Chelsea have taken more points away from home, but they have scored 16 goals in their last four games on the road and no other team has more goals away from home. They have won their last three games and they scored 12 goals in those games while only conceding one with no other team scoring more goals and only the top two conceding less.

It’s impossible to look beyond Mohamed Salah for fantasy managers while Diogo Jota is in great form at the moment too with Sadio Mane plus all of Liverpool’s defenders and keeper performing well.

I think Wolves run of clean sheets will come to and end in this game with Liverpool taking the three points.

Prediction: 0-2

Watford v Manchester City

5.30pm GMT, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford lost 2-1 at home to table topping Chelsea on Wednesday night and they’re now only one place and three points above the bottom three. They have only taken four points from their last six home games with only Newcastle conceding more goals on their own patch. They have lost four of their last five games while only the bottom two have conceded more goals, but they are the top scorers in the bottom half of the table.

Emmanuel Dennis is in great form for fantasy managers at the moment and he’s available at a very good price too.

City won 2-1 away to Villa on Wednesday night to stay one place and one point behind Chelsea at the top of the table. They have won their last three away games and they scored eight goals in those games, but only Chelsea have taken more points on their travels. They have won six of their last seven games with only Liverpool and Chelsea scoring more goals and only Chelsea conceding less.

Bernardo Silva looks to be the City play immune to rotation and he’s doing very well for fantasy managers with City’s defenders and keeper doing very well too.

Despite some very good recent performances from Watford I think City will take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday December 5

Leeds United v Brentford

2pm GMT, Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds won 1-0 at home to Palace on Tuesday night to give themselves five points to spare over the bottom three. They have taken eight points from their last four home games and they only conceded two goals in those games, but only three other teams have scored less goals at home. They have only lost one of their last six games, but only two other teams have scored less goals.

Raphinha remains the only Leeds player of interest for fantasy managers at least until Patrick Bamford returns from injury.

Brentford lost 2-0 away to Spurs on Thursday night and they’re now only one point ahead of Leeds going into this game. They have only taken one point from their last three away games and they conceded eight goals in those games. They have only won once in their last seven games, but four of their next five games are against teams close to them in the table and they will hope to reverse their fortunes in those games.

Ivan Toney is the Brentford player who’s looking likely to perform for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this is going to be a very close game and the chances are it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester United v Crystal Palace

2pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United came from behind to win 3-2 at home to Arsenal on Thursday night and they’re now only three points off the top four despite their recent bad results. Their win against Arsenal was their first home win in five games, but only three other teams have scored more goals at home and only two other teams have conceded more. That win against Arsenal was only their second win in nine games with only the top four scoring more goals and only four other teams conceding more.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are the United players most likely to score points for fantasy managers, but others might well emerge under their new management.

Palace lost 1-0 to a last minute penalty away to Leeds on Tuesday night and they’re now three points off the top half of the table. They have taken four points from their last three away games and they have a good run of away games coming up after this one. They have lost their last two games after going unbeaten in the previous seven with no other team drawing more games.

Conor Gallagher is the Palace player to have for fantasy managers and Wilfried Zaha is a possibility too.

I think United will make it back to back home wins with a narrow victory in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Norwich City

2pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs won 2-0 at home to Brentford on Thursday night and they’re now only two points off the top four. They have won five of their seven home games with only two other teams taking more points on their own patch. They have taken seven points from their last three games and they only conceded one goal in those games, but only Norwich and Wolves have scored less goals.

Heung-Min Son is the Spurs player to have for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper are looking better under Antonio Conte.

Norwich drew 1-1 away to Newcastle on Tuesday night, but that point wasn’t enough to move them out of second last place in the table. They have taken four points from their last two away games, but no other team has scored less or conceded more goals on the road. They have taken eight points from their last four games to move off the foot of the table, but no other team has scored less goals and only Newcastle have conceded more.

Teemu Pukki has done well recently for fantasy managers, but they have a tough run of games coming up.

I think Spurs will be too strong for Norwich and should win by at least a couple of goals.

Prediction: 2-0

Aston Villa v Leicester City

4.30pm GMT, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa lost 2-1 at home to City in midweek, but they’re only three points behind Leicester going into this game and they will go ahead of them if they win this game. They have lost three of their last four home games, but they will be hopeful of getting something from the next two. They have won two of their last three games after losing the previous five and Steven Gerrard has made a promising start in charge of them.

With Danny Ings injured it looks like Ollie Watkins could be the Villa player to have for fantasy managers.

Leicester drew 2-2 away to Southampton in midweek to move into the top half of the table. They’re unbeaten in four away games, but they drew three of them and only four other teams have conceded more goals on the road. They have taken four points from their last two games and their next four games are all reasonably good, but only three other teams have conceded more goals.

Jamie Vardy is still the Leicester player to have for fantasy managers while James Maddison has looked very good in recent weeks too.

I think this will be a very close game and the most likely outcome is probably a draw.

Prediction: 2-2

Monday December 6

Everton v Arsenal

8pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton lost 4-1 at home to Liverpool on Wednesday night and they’re now only five points above the relegation zone. They have only taken one point in their last four home games and they conceded 10 goals in those games with only three other teams conceding more goals at home. They have only taken two points from their last eight games and they failed to score in four of them with only four other teams conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Arsenal lost 3-2 away to United on Thursday night after leading 1-0, but they managed to stay in fifth place. They have lost their last two away games and they conceded seven goals in those games with only Norwich scoring less and conceding more goals away from home. They have taken 23 points from their last 11 games though and they have a fairly good run of games coming up.

Arsenal’s defenders and keeper have mostly done very well for quite a while now while both Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka are also worth considering.

I think Arsenal should have enough to beat an Everton team that are really struggling at the moment.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
