Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 14

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too well at the weekend with four correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which left me still in third place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Mohamed Salah didn’t set the world alight last weekend, but he did manage an assist and I still can’t see a better captain out there for my team. Conor Gallagher didn’t do anything for a change, but Emmanuel Dennis is starting to look like very good value and Ivan Toney has found some form too.

Tuesday November 30

Newcastle United v Norwich City

7.30pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle lost 2-0 away to Arsenal at the weekend and they’re still firmly rooted to the foot of the table without a win to their name. They’re the only team without a win at home and no other team has conceded more goals on their own ground. With 13 games gone they’re the only winless team and no other team has conceded more goals.

Newcastle still hold a fairly good attacking threat with Callum Wilson and Allan Saint-Maximin both capable of making an impression for fantasy managers.

Norwich drew 0-0 at home to Wolves on Saturday to move three points ahead of Newcastle at the bottom of the table. Only Newcastle and Burnley have taken less points away from home and no other team has conceded more goals on their travels. No other team has lost more games or scored less goals and only Newcastle have conceded more.

Teemu Pukki is the only Norwich player for fantasy managers to even consider.

This is a huge game for the bottom two clubs and I have a feeling Newcastle might just manage their first win of the season.

Prediction: 2-1

Leeds United v Crystal Palace

8.15pm GMT, Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds drew 0-0 away to Brighton at the weekend to move three points clear of the relegation zone after Burnley’s game was called off. Only Newcastle and Norwich have taken less points at home and only three other teams have scored less goals at home. They have only won two of their 13 games, but only Palace have drawn more and only three other teams have scored less goals.

Raphinha is the Leeds player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Palace lost 2-1 at home to Villa on Saturday and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table. They have taken five points from their last three away games, but only two other teams have conceded more goals on the road. The defeat against Villa was their first defeat in eight games and their upcoming fixtures suggest they could continue to do well.

Conor Gallagher is still available at a very good price and he’s the Palace player to have for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a close game and the chances are Palace will bounce back with three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Wednesday December 1

Southampton v Leicester City

7.30pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton lost 4-0 away to Liverpool on Saturday to drop to 15th place and they only have five points to spare over the bottom three. They have taken seven points from their last three home games with only City conceding less goals on their own ground. They have lost their last two games and they conceded six goals in those two games with only Norwich scoring less goals.

Tino Livramento had being doing well for fantasy managers until the last couple of games and Adam Armstrong might not be the worst choice either.

Leicester won 4-2 at home to Watford on Sunday and that win was enough to move them back into the top half of the table. They are unbeaten in three games away from home and their next three away games are all ones they will hope to win. They had only taken one point and scored one goal in the three games before beating Watford, but only three other teams have conceded more goals.

Jamie Vardy came good for fantasy managers on Sunday and James Maddison showed he could be a good option too.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams, but Leicester might just have enough to get a narrow win.

Prediction: 1-2

Watford v Chelsea

7.30pm GMT, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford lost 4-2 away to Leicester on Sunday, but they still have four points to spare over the bottom three. They have only won once in their last five home games with only Newcastle conceding more goals at home. They have lost five of their last seven games and they conceded 15 goals in those games with only the bottom two conceding more goals.

Emmanuel Dennis looks like he could be the cut price striker fantasy managers are looking for, but maybe not in this game.

Chelsea drew 1-1 at home to United on Sunday and their lead at the top of the table has been cut to a single point. They are the only team still unbeaten away from home and no other team has taken more points or conceded less goals on their travels. They have taken 17 points from their last seven games, but they have drawn two of their last three with only Liverpool scoring more goals and no other team conceding less.

Chelsea’s defenders and keeper are great choices for fantasy managers and Romelu Lukaku could be worth a look too now that he’s fit again.

I think Chelsea will be too strong for Watford and should take the three points with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 1-3

West Ham United v Brighton And Hove Albion

7.30pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham lost 2-1 away to City at the weekend, but they’re still in fourth place even if it is only on goal difference. They have won their last two home games, but they have taken more points away from home than they have at home. They have lost their last two games after winning the previous four and only the top three have scored more goals.

West Ham’s big performers haven’t done much in recent weeks for fantasy managers and it’s difficult to recommend any of them at the moment.

Brighton drew 0-0 at home to Leeds on Saturday and they now only have two points to spare over the bottom half of the table. They haven’t won in their last four away games, but no other team has drawn more away games and only two other teams have conceded less goals on the road. They haven’t won in eight games, but they drew six of them with only Palace drawing more games.

With Tariq Lamptey finally back from injury he might just be the best of the Brighton players for fantasy managers.

It’s not easy to know which way this game will go, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Burnley

7.30pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves drew 0-0 away to Norwich at the weekend and that point moved them within three points of the top five. They have won their last three home games after losing the previous three, but no other team has scored less goals at home. They have taken 17 points from their last eight games, but only three other teams have scored less goals and only three other teams have conceded less.

Wolves defenders look pretty good for fantasy managers at the moment, but they face each of the top three teams in their next four games after this one.

Burnley’s game against Spurs was postponed due to the bad weather on Sunday and they’re still in the bottom three with three points to make up on seventeenth place. They’re one of two teams without an away win and no other team has taken less points away from home, but they have drawn their last three on the road. They have only lost one of their last seven games, but they drew five of them with only Palace drawing more games.

Maxwel Cornet looks like the best of the Burnley players for fantasy managers while Chris Wood could be considered too.

I don’t think there will be too many goals in this game and the chances are Wolves will take the three points.

Prediction: 1-0

Aston Villa v Manchester City

8.15pm GMT, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa won 2-1 away to Palace on Saturday and they’re now only two points off the top half of the table. They won their last home game after losing the previous two, but they will do very well to get anything from this game. They have won their last two games after losing the previous five and they have some tough games coming up.

With both City and Liverpool to play in their next three games it’s probably not a great idea for fantasy managers to have Villa players at the moment.

City won 2-1 at home to West Ham on Sunday to cut Chelsea’s lead at the top of the table to one point. They have taken 13 points and kept three clean sheets in their last five away games with only Chelsea taking more points and conceding less goals away from home. They have won five of their last six games with only Chelsea conceding less goals and only Liverpool and Chelsea scoring more.

City have a very good run of games and their defenders and keeper are the ones most likely to play consistently in those games.

I think City will be too strong for Villa and should win by at least a couple of goals.

Prediction: 0-2

Everton v Liverpool

8.15pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton lost 1-0 away to Brentford at the weekend and that defeat saw them drop to 14th place in the table. They have only taken one point from their last three home games after winning their first three and they play two of the top five in their next two home games starting with this one. They haven’t won in seven games and they lost five of them and they have failed to score in their last three games.

I can’t see any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Liverpool won 4-0 at home to Southampton on Saturday and they’re now only two points behind Chelsea at the top of the table. Only Chelsea have taken more points away from home and no other team has scored more goals on their travels. They have taken 13 points and scored 22 goals in their last six games with no other team scoring more goals and only the top two conceding less.

Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander- Arnold seem like must haves for fantasy managers while Diogo Jota and Sadio Mane are in very good form too.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool victory in this game.

Prediction: 0-3

Thursday December 2

Tottenham Hotspur v Brentford

7.30pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs didn’t play at the weekend as their game at Burnley was a victim of the bad weather, but they stayed in seventh place as the teams directly below failed to take advantage. They have won four of their six home games, but only three other teams have scored less goals at home. They won their last game, but that was their first win in four games with only Norwich scoring less goals.

Spurs have a very good run of games coming up which could make Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son very tempting for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper could be worth considering too.

Brentford won 1-0 at home to Everton on Sunday and they’re now as close to the top four as they are to the relegation zone. They have only lost one of their six away games, but they might struggle to get something from this game. Their win against Everton was their first win in six games and they squad depth will be strongly tested over the next few weeks.

Ivan Toney seems to be living up to the hype at the moment and he could be one for fantasy managers to take a look at.

I think this will be a close game with Spurs probably winning by a single goal.

Prediction: 1-0

Manchester United v Arsenal

8.15pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United drew 1-1 away to table topping Chelsea on Sunday and they’re still only five points off the top four despite their recent bad run of results. They have only taken one point from their last four home games and they only scored one goal in those games. They have only won once in their last eight games and they conceded 18 goals in those games with only four other teams conceding more goals.

Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford are all good options for fantasy managers while Jadon Sancho might just have found some form too.

Arsenal won 2-0 at home to Newcastle on Saturday and they’re now only behind fourth placed West Ham on goal difference. They had taken seven points and conceded no goals in their three away games before losing 4-0 to Liverpool in their last away game, but only Norwich have scored less goals on the road. They have taken 23 points from their last 10 games and they kept six clean sheets in those games.

Arsenal’s defenders and keeper are all doing very well for fantasy managers at the moment while Emile Smith-Rowe and Bukayo Saka are good choices too.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams and the chances are the spoils will be shared.

Prediction: 1-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
