Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 37

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do so well last week with four correct outcomes and four incorrect outcomes, but I’m still on top of my predictions league with the season almost over. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Tuesday May 18

Manchester United v Fulham

6pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United didn’t play at the weekend after playing three times the previous week and they will guarantee second place in the league if they win this game. They have lost their last two home games after taking 16 points from their previous six at home with only City scoring more home goals. They have lost their last two games after going the previous 14 unbeaten and only City have scored more goals.

Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Edinson Cavani are all looking very good for fantasy managers at the moment.

Fulham lost 3-1 away to Southampton last week and they have very little to play for with their relegation already confirmed. They have only taken one point from their last four away games and they conceded nine goals in those games with no other team drawing more games away from home. They have only taken one point from their last eight games with only Sheffield United scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Fulham players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable United victory in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Southampton v Leeds United

6pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton won 3-1 at home to Fulham and they can still finish as high as 12th if they do well in their last two games. They have taken 10 points and scored 10 goals in their last four home games. They have lost 13 of their last 19 games with only the three relegated teams losing more games.

If he’s fit Danny Ings is the Fulham player to have for fantasy managers while both James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams are good options too.

Leeds won 4-0 away to Burnley on Saturday and it looks like they will finish in the top half of the table in their first season back in the top flight. They have won three of their last four away games and they’re the only team not to have drawn an away game, but only three other teams have conceded more goals on their travels. They have only lost once in their last nine games and they are looking good to win their last two games.

Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison and Raphinha are all very good choices for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.

Prediction: 2-2

Brighton And Hove Albion v Manchester City

7pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton drew 1-1 at home to West Ham and they’re only one place above the bottom three, but it doesn’t really matter with the relegation places already decided. They have taken eight points from their last four home games and they only conceded one goal in those games. They have only won once in their last seven games and no other team has drawn more games.

I’m not sure there are any Brighton players to recommend to fantasy managers in this game at least.

City won 4-3 away to Newcastle last week and they will probably give all of their players a run out with the title already wrapped up and the Champions League final on the horizon. They have won their last 12 away games with no other team scoring more or conceding less goals on the road. They have won the title with ease and they have scored more and conceded less goals than any other team despite getting nowhere near the points tallies of the winners from the previous two seasons.

It’s impossible to tell which City players will play from week to week so I’m just not sure who to recommend to fantasy managers.

I think Brighton will make a game of it, but City should win by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 1-3

Chelsea v Leicester City

8.15pm BST, Stamford Bridge, Leicester

Chelsea were busy losing the FA cup final to Leicester at the weekend and they get to play them again in this game with a Champions League place for next season at stake. They have only taken four points from their last four home games, but no other team has conceded less goals at home. They have taken 13 points from their last six games, but they have only scored five goals in their last five games with only City conceding less goals.

Mason Mount has been the attacking Chelsea player to have for fantasy managers while all of their defenders and their keeper are good options too.

Leicester beat Chelsea on Saturday to lift the FA cup for the first time in their history and this game is probably just as important for them. They have taken 11 points from their last six away games with only the top two taking more points away from home. They have taken 10 points from their last five games and they will finish in the top four if they win this game, but any other result might not be enough for them.

Kelechi Iheanacho is the form Leicester player for fantasy managers at the moment.

This is a very tough game to call with both teams needing to win, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end all square.

Prediction: 1-1

Wednesday May 19

Everton v Wolverhampton Wanderers

6pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton lost 1-0 at home to Sheffield United on Sunday and it now looks fairly unlikely that they will qualify for the Europa League. They haven’t won in their last five games and only two other teams have lost more games at home. They have only won two of their last 10 games and no other team in the top half of the table has scored less goals.

I’m not sure Everton players are a good choice for fantasy managers when they play at home.

Wolves lost 2-0 away to Spurs on Sunday and they will probably finish no higher than 12th place now. They have only won once in their last six away games with only Sheffield United scoring less goals on their travels. They have taken 10 points from their last six games, but only four other teams have scored less goals.

Like Everton I can’t really see any Wolves players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

This is another very tough game to call and again I think a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Newcastle United v Sheffield United

6pm BST, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle lost 4-3 at home to City on Friday, but they have a couple of games coming up which could help them to finish their season on a high. They have lost their last two games and they conceded six goals in those games with only West Brom conceding more goals at home. They have only lost two of their last seven games which has kept them clear of trouble, but only West Brom and Southampton have conceded more goals.

It’s very hard for fantasy managers to ignore Joe Willock at the moment and he could do well in this game too.

United won 1-0 away to Everton on Sunday, but those points won’t be enough to stop them finishing at the foot of the table. No other team has taken less points or scored less goals on the road with only Southampton conceding more goals on their travels. They have only won six games this season and four of them were 1-0 victories with no other team scoring less goals.

Despite their win away to Everton I still can’t see any United players to interest fantasy managers.

I think Newcastle will sign off at home for another season by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa

6pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs won 2-0 at home to Wolves on Sunday and one win in their last two games should qualify them for the Europa League for next season. They have won six of their last seven home games and they kept clean sheets in four of those games with only City taking more points at home. They have taken 10 points from their last five games with only the top three scoring more goals.

Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Gareth Bale are all very good choices for fantasy managers at the moment.

Villa lost 3-2 away to Palace on Sunday and the chances are they will finish in the bottom half of the table. They have lost three of their last five away games and they will have their work cut out to get anything from this game too. They have only won one of their last seven games and they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 10 games.

Ollie Watkins is the Villa player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be another very close game with Spurs probably winning by the odd goal.

Prediction: 2-1

Crystal Palace v Arsenal

7pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace came from behind to win 3-2 at home to Villa on Sunday and like a few other teams the best they can probably hope for is to finish 12th. They have only won two of their last seven home games and only four other teams have scored less goals at home. They have lost four of their last six games with only four other teams conceding more goals.

Christian Benteke is in very good form for fantasy managers at the moment while Eberechi Eze and Wilfried Zaha are worth considering too.

Arsenal didn’t play at the weekend due to Chelsea’s involvement in the FA Cup final and their chances of qualifying for the Europa League for next season are now very slim. They have taken 14 points from their last six away games and they haven’t conceded any goals in their last three games on the road. They have won their last three games to keep their slim European hopes alive, but they probably won’t make it even if they win their last two games.

Emile Smith-Rowe has done very well in his last two games and he could be of interest to fantasy managers along with Bukayo Saka.

Like so many other games this is very close to call, but the chances are Arsenal will take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Burnley v Liverpool

8.15pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley lost 4-0 at home to Leeds last week and they don’t have an awful lot to play for. They haven’t won in their last nine home games with only Fulham and Sheffield United scoring less goals on their own patch. They have lost five of their last seven games and only two other teams have scored less goals.

Chris Wood might not have scored at the weekend, but he still looks like a pretty good option for fantasy managers.

Liverpool got a dramatic last minute winner away to West Brom on Sunday to keep their top four chances alive. They have taken 16 points from their last six away games and only City have scored more goals away from home. They have taken 20 points from their last eight games and they will almost certainly qualify for the Champions League if they win their last two games.

Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the Liverpool players to have for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Liverpool’s need for three points should be enough to see them win this game a couple of goals.

Prediction: 1-3

West Bromwich Albion v West Ham United

8.15pm BST, The Hawthorns, Birmingham

West Brom lost to a last minute goal from Liverpool’s goalkeeper on Sunday and they only have two games left to play before they return to the championship. They have only lost two of their last eight home games with no other team conceding more goals at home. They have only taken two points from their last five games and no other team has conceded more goals with only Sheffield United and Fulham scoring less.

Matheus Pereira is still by far the outstanding choice for fantasy managers in the West Brom team.

West Ham drew 1-1 away to Brighton on Saturday and they need to take all three points in this game to keep their Europa League hopes alive. They have only taken eight points from their last seven away games and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last six away games. They have lost three of their last five games, but they have a very good chance of winning their last two games.

West Ham players haven’t done much recently for fantasy managers, but Michail Antonio and Jessie Lingard could be ones to watch in this game.

I think this will be another close game and the chances are West Ham will win narrowly.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
