Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 36

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did reasonably well last week with one perfect prediction, eight correct outcomes and six incorrect outcomes which leaves me still on top of my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Friday May 14

Newcastle United v Manchester City

8pm BST, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle won 4-2 away to Leicester last week and combined with other results they were finally able to put an end to any relegation worries for another season. They lost their last home game against Arsenal, but they were unbeaten in five home games before that and only West Brom have conceded more goals at home. They have only lost one of their last six games and they scored 12 goals in those games, but only four other teams have conceded more goals.

With Callum Wilson injured yet again Allan Saint-Maximin could be an option for fantasy managers while Joe Willock has done very well recently too.

City lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea last week in a test run for the Champions League final, but they only had to wait until Tuesday night to be confirmed as champions when United lost to Leicester. They have won their last 11 away games and they kept seven clean sheets in those games with no other team taking more points, scoring more or conceding less goals on the road. They have lost two of their last four games, but no other team has scored more or conceded less goals.

As always with City it’s a matter of who plays, but I think Riyad Mahrez and Ruben Diaz might be good options.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable City win in this game.

Prediction: 0-2

Saturday May 15

Burnley v Leeds United

12.30pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley won 2-0 away to Fulham last week to put an end to their relegation worries and that result also relegated Fulham. They haven’t won in their last eight home games and only the bottom three teams have scored less goals at home. They have won two of their last three games to make sure they stayed up and they scored seven goals in those games, but only the three relegated teams have scored less goals.

Chris Wood has been in fantastic form for fantasy managers recently and he’s certainly worth considering.

Leeds won 3-1 at home to Spurs last week and that win was just enough to keep them in the top half of the table. They have won two of their last three away games and they’re the only team not to have drawn a game on their travels with only three other teams conceding more away goals. They have taken 15 points from their last eight games and they have a good run of games to finish their season.

With that good run of games to finish their season Stuart Dallas, Patrick Bamford, Jack Harrison and Raphinha all good choices for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a close game with Burnley more than likely taking the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

Southampton v Fulham

3pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton lost away to Liverpool before winning at home to Palace last week and they could still finish as high as 12th if they do well in their last three games. They have taken seven points and scored seven goals in their last three home games. They had only taken one point from four games before beating Palace, but only West Brom have conceded more goals.

With Danny Ings back from injury he’s a very good choice for fantasy managers while James Ward-Prowse is worth considering too.

Fulham lost 2-0 at home to Burnley last week and that result meant they will have to play in the Championship next season. They have only lost two of their last 11 away games, but they drew seven of those games and no other team has drawn more away games. They have only taken one point and scored three goals in their last seven games with only Sheffield United scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Fulham players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Southampton will get their second home win in a row with a narrow victory in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Brighton And Hove Albion v West Ham United

8pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton lost 2-1 away to Wolves last week, but other results meant they are secure in their Premier League status for another season. Only the three relegated teams have taken less points at home and no other team has drawn more home games. They have only won once in their last six games and they failed to score in three of those games with no other team drawing more games.

With Lewis Dunk suspended I’m not sure there are any Brighton players to recommend to fantasy managers.

West Ham lost 1-0 at home to Everton last week and their hopes of a top four finish are now fairly slim. They have won two of their last three away games and they scored seven goals in those games. They have lost three of their last four games, but they have three games they can win to finish their season.

West Ham players haven’t exactly set the world alight for fantasy managers recently, but Michail Antonio and Jessie Lingard could do well in what looks like a good run of games to end their season.

I think this will be a very close game, but West Ham will probably keep their top four dream alive with a narrow victory.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday May 16

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa

12pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace won away to Sheffield United before losing away to Southampton last week and they will probably finish no higher than the 13th place they are now in. They have only won once in their last six home games and they failed to score in four of those games with only four other teams scoring less goals at home. They have only won once of their last six games and they conceded 12 goals in those games with only three other teams conceding more goals.

Christian Benteke and Eberechi Eze have done well recently for fantasy managers while Wilfried Zaha is always a good choice too.

Villa lost 3-1 at home to United before drawing 0-0 at home to Everton last week and they’re still just in the bottom half of the table. They have only won once in their last four away games, but only City have conceded less goals away from home. They have only won twice in their last 11 games and they only scored 11 goals in those games.

Villa have a tough finish to their season after this game, but Ollie Watkins is still a player who might do well for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game and I think a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Wolverhampton Wanderers

2.05pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs lost 3-1 away to Leeds last week and they’re almost certainly not going to finish in the top four. They have won five of their last six home games and they scored 17 goals in those games with only City and West Ham taking more points at home. They have only taken 11 points from their last eight games, but only the top three have scored more goals.

Harry Kane, Heung-Min Son and Gareth Bale could all do very well for fantasy managers with Spurs having a fairly good run of games to end their season.

Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Brighton last week, but they’re almost certainly going to finish in the bottom half of the table. They have only lost one of their last six away games, but only Sheffield United have scored less goals on their travels. They have taken 10 points from their last five games, but they have three very tough games to finish their season.

I can’t see any Wolves players who might do well given their tough run of games to finish their season.

I think Wolves will make a game of it, but the chances are Spurs will take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

West Bromwich Albion v Liverpool

4.30pm BST, The Hawthorns, Birmingham

West Brom lost 3-1 away to Arsenal last week and that defeat condemned them to the Championship for next season. They have only lost one of their last seven home games, but they drew four of those games and no other team has conceded more goals on their own patch. They haven’t won in four games and they conceded nine goals in those games with no other team conceding more goals.

Matheus Pereira is the only West Brom player of interest to fantasy managers.

Liverpool won 2-0 at home to Southampton and 4-2 away to United last week to give themselves a real chance of finishing in the top four. They have taken 13 points from their last five away games and they scored 11 goals in those games with no other team scoring more goals away from home. They have taken 17 points from their last seven games and they scored 14 goals in those games as well as keeping three clean sheets.

Mohamed Salah is still the best of the Liverpool players for fantasy managers with Trent Alexander-Arnold in good form recently too.

I think Liverpool should be too strong for West Brom and should win by at least a couple of goals.

Prediction: 1-3

Everton v Sheffield United

7pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton won 1-0 away to West Ham and drew 0-0 away to Villa last week to leave themselves in with a good chance of qualifying for the Europa League for next season. They have only won once in their last 10 home games with only Sheffield United and Fulham losing more home games. They have only won two of their last nine games, but they have kept clean sheets in four of their last six home games.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is probably the best of the Everton players for fantasy managers, but their defenders and keeper have done very well recently too.

United lost 2-0 at home to Palace last week and the end of the season can’t come quickly enough for them at this stage. They have lost their last seven away games and they failed to score in six of those games with no other team scoring less or conceding more goals on their travels. They have lost seven of their last eight games with no other team scoring less goals and only West Brom conceding more.

I can’t see any United players to recommend to fantasy managers.

Despite their poor home form this season I think Everton will win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 2-0

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
