It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did reasonably well last week with one perfect prediction, four correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which saw me climb to sixth place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.
Pos Player Res Cls Exa Slm Pts
1. andy 7 52.5 36 7 102.5
2. Gooners 12 34.5 42 5 93.5
3. Orlando Pirates 20 42 21 10 93
4. SeniorBurger 12 40.5 33 7 92.5
5. Always a Gooner 9 43.5 33 6 91.5
I had a fairly good week with my fantasy team too despite not getting a great score as it was a very low scoring week. Erling Haaland did well as my captain yet again, but he would have done an awful lot better if he hadn’t missed a penalty. He was assisted by Trevoh Chalobah, Bukayo Saka, Nick Woltemade and Igor Thiago as my team climbed into the top 1% overall for the first time this season.
I didn’t make any transfers last week which means I have two to make after the international break and I’ll probably look to bring Bryan Mbeumo in along with a reasonably priced midfielder which would mean selling Mohammed Kudus and Jack Grealish. I am tempted to hold on to those two transfers and use three the week after with three games to play in just over a week for all teams. I will make my decision on Friday night when I get the latest injury updates as a few of my players are doubtful.
Saturday November 22
Burnley v Chelsea
12.30pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley
Burnley lost 3-2 away to West Ham in their last game and that defeat means they’re only above the relegation zone on goal difference. They have only won once in their last four home games with no other team scoring less goals on their own ground and only three other teams conceding less. They will struggle to get anything from this game and only two other teams have conceded more goals.
Josh Cullen is probably the only Burnley player who offers any value to fantasy managers.
Chelsea won 3-0 at home to Wolves last time out and those three points moved them up to third place. They have taken 10 points from their five away games with only Arsenal and Spurs taking more points on the road and no other team scoring more goals. They have won four of their last five games and they kept clean sheets in three of those games with only City scoring more goals.
Trevoh Chalobah, Marc Cucurella, Moises Caicedo, Pedro Neto and Joao Pedro are all looking like good options for fantasy managers.
I think Chelsea should be good enough to take the three points in this game.
Prediction: 0-2
Bournemouth v West Ham United
3pm GMT, Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
Bournemouth lost 4-0 away to Villa in their last game and that defeat saw them drop to ninth in the table. They’re one of five teams still unbeaten at home with only City taking more points on their own patch and only Arsenal conceding less goals. They have lost their last two games and they conceded seven goals in those games with no other team in the top half of the table conceding more goals.
If he’s fit to play Antoine Semenyo is the Bournemouth player to have for fantasy managers with Marcos Senesi a possibility too.
West Ham won 3-2 at home to Burnley last time out, but they’re still in the relegation zone even if it’s only on goal difference. They have only taken one point from their last three away games and they have some tough games on their travels coming up. They have won their last two games and they scored six goals in those games, but only Wolves have conceded more goals.
Jarrod Bowen hasn’t done much in recent weeks for fantasy managers, but he’s still the best bet in the West Ham team.
I think Bournemouth will be good enough at home to win this game by a couple of goals.
Prediction: 3-1
Brighton And Hove Albion v Brentford
3pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton
Brighton drew 0-0 away to Palace in their last game, but that point wasn’t enough to keep them in the top half of the table. They’re one of five teams still unbeaten at home and they have a good run of games on their own ground coming up. They have only lost once in their last six games, but only Palace have drawn more games.
Danny Welbeck and Yankuba Minteh are the Brighton players most likely to perform for fantasy managers.
Brentford came from behind to win 3-1 at home to Newcastle last time out and they’re only behind Brighton on goal difference going into this game. They have lost four of their five away games and they have some difficult games on the road coming up. They have won four of their last six games and they scored 11 goals in those games with no other team in the bottom half of the table scoring more goals.
Igor Thiago is the Brentford player who can make a difference for fantasy managers.
This will probably be a very close game, but I think Brighton will make home advantage pay.
Prediction: 2-1
Fulham v Sunderland
3pm GMT, Craven Cottage, London
Fulham lost 2-0 away to Everton in their last game and they’re now only one point above the bottom three. They have taken 10 of their 11 points at home with only two other teams conceding less goals on their own patch. They have lost five of their past six games with only four other teams scoring less goals.
I can’t see any Fulham players doing enough to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
Sunderland scored a very late goal to draw 2-2 at home to Arsenal last time out to leave them in fourth place. They have won two of their last three away games, but only two other teams have scored less goals on their travels. They have only lost once in their last nine games, but they have trips to Liverpool and City coming up shortly.
Sunderland’s defenders and keeper look good for fantasy managers along with Granit Xhaka.
I think this will be a very close game and the chances are the points will be shared.
Prediction: 1-1
Liverpool v Nottingham Forest
3pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool
Liverpool lost 3-0 away to City in their last game and that defeat saw them drop to eighth place. They have won four of their five home games and they have a really good run of games on their own ground coming up. They have lost five of their last six games, but they only play one of the other big six teams in their next nine games.
With their upcoming run of games Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Cody Gakpo could all do very well for fantasy managers.
Forest won 3-1 at home to Leeds last time out and they’re now only one point from the relative safety of 17th place. They’re one of four teams without an away win with only Wolves scoring less goals on the road. They hadn’t won in nine games before beating Leeds with only Wolves scoring less goals.
Morgan Gibbs-White and Elliot Anderson are the Forest players who might do well for fantasy managers.
I think Liverpool will bounce back from their defeat against City by taking the three points in this game.
Prediction: 3-1
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Crystal Palace
3pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton
Wolves lost 3-0 away to Chelsea in their last game and they will be going into this game rooted to the foot of the table with a new manager. They’re the only team without a home win with only Burnley scoring less goals on their own patch and only West Ham conceding more. They’re the only team without a win with no other team scoring less or conceding more goals and relegation is already looking like a certainty for them.
I can’t see any Wolves players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
Palace drew 0-0 at home to Brighton last time out to keep themselves just about in the top half of the table. They have lost their last two away games, but only Arsenal have conceded less goals on their travels. They have only won once in their last five games, but three of their next four games are against teams in the bottom six.
Palace’s defenders and keeper are doing well for fantasy managers with Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta good choices too.
I think Palace will inflict yet another defeat on a Wolves team that look doomed to relegation.
Prediction: 0-2
Newcastle United v Manchester City
5.30pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle
Newcastle led away to Brentford in their last game, but they ended up losing 3-1 to leave them only two points above the bottom three. They have won their last two home games, but they have already lost at home to last season’s top two and this is another very difficult game. They have lost three of their last four games and they conceded nine goals in those games with only three other teams scoring less goals.
Nick Woltemade is the best of the bunch in the Newcastle team for fantasy managers with Bruno Guimaraes worth considering too.
City won 3-0 at home to Liverpool last time out to keep them in second place with just a four point gap to Arsenal. They have only won once in their last four away games with only Arsenal conceding less goals on the road. They have won five of their last six games with no other team scoring more goals and only Arsenal conceding less.
Erling Haaland remains a must have for fantasy managers with Jeremy Doku and Nico O’Reilly possibilities too.
I think Newcastle will make things difficult for City and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.
Prediction: 1-1
Sunday November 23
Leeds United v Aston Villa
2pm GMT, Elland Road, Leeds
Leeds lost 3-1 away to Forest in their last game and they’re now only one point above the relegation zone. They have only lost once in their five home games, but only Burnley have scored less goals on their own patch. They have lost four of their last five games and they conceded 11 goals in those games with only three other teams conceding more goals.
Joe Rodon is available at a good price and he’s probably the only Leeds player of any interest to fantasy managers.
Villa won 4-0 at home to Bournemouth last time out and they’re now only one point off the top four. They have only won once in their five away games with only two other teams scoring less goals on their travels. They have won five of their last six games, but no other team in the top half of the table has scored less goals.
Villa’s defenders and keeper are looking good for fantasy managers at the moment while Emiliano Buendia might be a good choice if he could get more minutes.
I think Leeds are good enough at home to take a point in this game.
Prediction: 1-1
Arsenal v Tottenham Hotspur
4.30pm GMT, Emirates Stadium, London
Arsenal conceded very late to draw 2-2 away to Sunderland in their last game and their lead at the top of the table has now been cut to four points. They’re one of five teams still unbeaten at home with only City taking more points and no other team conceding less goals on their own ground. They’re unbeaten in eight games with no other team winning more games or conceding less goals.
Arsenal’s defenders and keeper are great choices for fantasy managers with Declan Rice and Bukayo Saka great options too.
Spurs conceded a very late goal to draw 2-2 at home to United last time out and they’re only one point off the top four. They’re the only team still unbeaten away from home with no other team taking more points, scoring more or conceding less goals on their travels. They have only won twice in their last seven games and they have a good run of games coming up after this one.
If he’s fit to play Mohammed Kudus is a good choice for fantasy managers with Micky van de Ven and Joao Palhinha possibilities too.
I think Arsenal will get the better of what looks like being a very close game.
Prediction: 2-1
Monday November 24
Manchester United v Everton
8pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester
United scored a last gasp goal to draw 2-2 away to Spurs in their last game and like a few other teams they’re only one point off the top four. They have won their last four home games and they scored 11 goals in those games and they have a good run of games coming up on their own patch. They have taken 11 points from their last five games and they scored 12 goals in those games and they don’t play any of the other top six in their next 10 games.
Bryan Mbeumo is the United player to have for fantasy managers with Bruno Fernandes an option too.
Everton won 2-0 at home to Fulham last time out and that win moved them within two points of the top half of the table. They have only taken one point from their last three away games and their next three away games are all difficult starting with this one. They have only won twice in their last eight games with only four other teams scoring less goals.
Iliman Ndiaye and Jack Grealish are the Everton players of most interest to fantasy managers with James Tarkowski, Michael Keane and Jordan Pickford worth considering too.
I think United will continue their unbeaten run with another three points in this game.
Prediction: 2-1
That’s it for this week.
See you next week.
