Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 16

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too well last week with five correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which saw me fall down the table in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My choice of Erling Haaland as my captain just about paid off last week when he came off the bench to score late on. Gabriel Magalhaes, James Maddison, Kieran Trippier, Miguel Almiron and Bukayo Saka all did well for me too as I made up some of the ground I lost over the last few weeks. My biggest mistake was selling Wilfried Zaha instead of Marcus Rashford and it cost me a few hundred thousand places. I’ll have to consider my options for captain again this week with Haaland doubtful yet again and very good fixtures for both Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane.

Saturday November 12

Manchester City v Brentford

12.30pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City got a very late goal to win 2-1 at home to Fulham last week which kept them two points behind Arsenal at the top of the table. They’re one of two teams with a 100% record at home and no other team has scored more goals on their own ground. They have won six of their last seven games and no other team has scored more goals with only Arsenal and Newcastle conceding less.

If he’s fit to play then Haaland is the obvious choice in the City team for fantasy managers with Kevin de Bruyne in great form too.

Brentford drew 2-2 away to Forest last week and they’re only one place off the top half of the table. They haven’t won away from home yet, but no other team has drawn more away games and only three other teams have conceded more goals on the road. They have only won once in their last eight games and they failed to score in four of those games with only three other teams conceding more goals.

With Ivan Toney back from suspension he’s the Brentford player most likely to make an impact for fantasy managers, but maybe not in this game.

I think City will sign off before the World Cup with a comfortable victory in this game.

Prediction: 4-1

Bournemouth v Everton

3pm GMT, Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth

Bournemouth led by two goals away to Leeds last week and they’re now only one point and one place above the relegation zone. They have lost their last two home games with only Southampton taking less points on their own patch and only Wolves scoring less goals. They have lost their last four games and they conceded 10 goals in those games with no other team conceding more goals.

Dominic Solanke and Philip Billing are both doing quite well for fantasy managers despite Bournemouth sliding down the table.

Everton lost 2-0 at home to Leicester last week and they’re only two points and two places above the bottom three. They have only taken one point from their last three away games and they failed to score in each of those games. They have lost four of their last six games and they failed to score in four of those games with only the bottom two scoring less goals.

Alex Iwobi and Conor Coady have been the best of the Everton players for fantasy managers recently.

I think this will be a close game with Everton probably winning narrowly.

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Southampton

3pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool won 2-1 away to Spurs last week, but they still have 15 points to make up on the league leaders. They lost their last home game against Leeds, but that was their first home defeat of the season and only the top two have scored more goals on their own ground. They had lost two games in a row before beating Spurs, but they are strong favourites to make it two wins in a row in this game.

Mohamed Salah looks like he might just be back to his best for fantasy managers and he could do very well in this game.

Southampton lost 4-1 at home to Newcastle last week and that defeat cost them their manager as well as dropping them into the bottom three. They have lost four of their last five away games and they failed to score in each of those defeats. They have only won once in their last nine games and they have only kept one clean sheet so far.

I’m not sure there are any Southampton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Liverpool should win this game with at least a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-1

Nottingham Forest v Crystal Palace

3pm GMT, City Ground, Nottingham

Forest drew 2-2 at home to Brentford last week, but that point wasn’t enough to keep them off the foot of the table. They have taken five points from their last three home games, but only Southampton have taken less points and conceded more goals on their own patch. They have only won once in their last 12 games with only Wolves scoring less goals and only Bournemouth conceding more.

I can’t see any Forest players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Palace won 2-1 away to West Ham last week and that win kept them in the top half of the table. The win against West Ham was their first win on the road, but they will be very hopeful of making it back to back away wins in this game. They have taken 13 points from their last six games and they could climb as high as sixth place with a win in this game if other results go their way.

Wilfried Zaha showed exactly what he can do for fantasy managers last week while Eberechi Eze is worth considering too.

I think Palace will continue to climb the table by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 0-2

Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds United

3pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool last week and that defeat saw them drop to fourth place in the table. They have lost their last two home games, but only three other teams have scored more goals on their own ground. They have lost three of their four games and they’re now eight points off the top of the table.

Harry Kane is the Spurs player to have for fantasy managers and he could do very well in this game.

Leeds came back from 3-1 down to win 4-3 at home to Bournemouth last week and that win moved them three points clear of the relegation zone. They won their last away game against Liverpool after losing the previous four, but this will be a very tough game for them. They have won their last two games after losing the previous four and they have scored eight goals in their last three games.

Both Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville are in great form for fantasy managers at the moment and Summerville is available at a very good price.

I think Spurs will get a much needed win in this game with at least a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-1

West Ham United v Leicester City

3pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham lost 2-1 at home to Palace last week after leading 1-0 and they’re now only two points above the bottom three. They lost to Palace after winning their previous three home games and only four other teams have scored less goals at home. They have lost three of their last four games and they will be anxious to get something from their last game before the World Cup.

West Ham players haven’t exactly set the world alight for fantasy managers yet and we might have to wait until after the World Cup to see the best from them.

Leicester won 2-0 away to Everton last week and that win moved them above West Ham on goal difference going into this game. They have won their last two away games without conceding a goal after losing the previous five with only Bournemouth conceding more goals on the road. They have won three of their last four games and they have kept five clean sheets in their last seven games.

James Maddison is the Leicester player of choice for fantasy managers while Danny Ward and Timothy Castagne have done very well recently too and they’re both available at a good price.

I think this will be a very close game with a draw being the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Newcastle United v Chelsea

5.30pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle won 4-1 away to Southampton last week and that win moved them up to third place in the table. They are one of only three teams still unbeaten at home and they have won their last three home games while scoring 10 goals in those games. They have taken 19 points from their last seven games with only the top two scoring more goals and no other team conceding less.

Kieran Trippier, Miguel Almiron and Nick Pope are all in great form for fantasy managers at the moment with all of their defence, Bruno Guimaraes and Callum Wilson good choices too.

Chelsea lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal last week and they’re now 13 points off the top of the table. They have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last two away games, but only four other teams have taken more points on their travels. They have only taken two points and scored two goals in their last four games and Palace are the only other team in the top half of the table to have scored less goals.

None of the Chelsea players are doing enough to recommend them to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Newcastle will continue their impressive form with a narrow victory in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal

7.45 GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves lost 3-2 at home to Brighton last week after leading 2-1 and they’re only off the bottom of the table on goal difference. Only Southampton have taken less points and conceded more goals at home and no other team has scored less goals on their own ground. They have only taken one point from their last four games and no other team has scored less goals.

I can’t see any Wolves players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

Arsenal won 1-0 away to Chelsea last week to maintain their two point lead at the top of the table. No other team has taken more points, scored more or conceded less goals in the road. They have taken 19 points from their last seven games and they kept clean sheets in four of those games with only City scoring more goals and no other team conceding less.

There are so many Arsenal players for fantasy managers to choose from at the moment with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard, Gabriel Jesus and all of their defenders in great form.

I think Wolves will make a game of it, but Arsenal will go into the World Cup break with yet another win.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday November 13

Brighton And Hove Albion v Aston Villa

2pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton came back from 2-1 down to win 3-2 away to Wolves last week and that win moved them up to sixth place. They have taken 10 points from their last five home games with no other team conceding less goals on their own ground. They have won their last two games after failing to win the previous five and they scored seven goals in those two wins.

Leandro Trossard is the standout Brighton player for fantasy managers with Pascal Gross doing pretty well too.

Villa won 3-1 at home to United last week to move themselves three points clear of the bottom three. They’re one of four teams without an away win and no other team has taken less points on their travels with only Forest scoring less goals. They have won two of their last three games after only winning one of the previous nine.

Leon Bailey was highly tipped as a good value midfielder for fantasy managers before the start of the season and he might just be living up to that billing now.

I think Brighton will prove to be too good for a Villa team which have struggled away from home.

Prediction: 2-0

Fulham v Manchester United

4.30om GMT, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham lost 2-1 to a last minute goal away to City last week, but they held on to their place in the top half of the table. They have taken five points from their last three home games and they kept clean sheets in two of those games. They lost to City after taking eight points from their previous four games and only five other teams have scored more goals.

With Aleksandar Mitrovic injured Andreas Pereira is the Fulham player most likely to do well for fantasy managers.

United lost 3-1 away to Villa last week, but they’re still only three points off the top four going into this game. They have only won once in their last four away games and only four other teams have conceded more goals on the road. They have taken 11 points from their last six games and they kept three clean sheets in those games.

Marcus Rashford is still the United player most likely to perform for fantasy managers with Anthony Martial an option too now that he’s yet again back from injury.

I think this will be a very close game with United most likely emerging with the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you after the World Cup.
