If he’s fit to play then Erling Haaland is still the obvious choice of captain for fantasy managers, but if not then maybe Kevin de Bruyne, Harry Kane or Mohamed Salah with Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson worth considering too. My fantasy team had what can only be described as a disaster last week as most of my players did nothing and my overall position plummeted. I will have to think long and hard about my changes this week in the hope I can make up some of the ground I lost.
Saturday November 5
Leeds United v Bournemouth
3pm GMT, Elland Road, Leeds
Leeds had a fantastic 2-1 away to Liverpool last week and that win was enough to move them out of the relegation zone. They haven’t won in their last four home games and they failed to score in two of them. The win against Liverpool was their first win in nine games, but they have a very good chance of making it two in a row.
Despite their win last week I’m still not sure there are any Leeds players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
Bournemouth led 2-0 at home to Spurs last week, but they ended up losing 3-2 and they’re now closer to the bottom three than the top six. They have only won once away from home so far with no other team conceding more goals on their travels. They have lost their last three games and they conceded six goals in those games with no other team conceding more.
Dominic Solanke and Philip Billing are the Bournemouth players who might do well for fantasy managers in this game.
This is a tough game to call, but I think Leeds might just make it back to back wins.
Prediction: 2-1
Manchester City v Fulham
3pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester
City won 1-0 away to Leicester last week to stay two points behind Arsenal at the top of the table. They’re one of two teams with a 100% record at home with no other team scoring more goals on their own patch. They have won five of their last six games and they kept clean sheets in four of them with no other team scoring more goals and only Newcastle conceding less.
If he’s fit to play Erling Haaland is the City player to have for fantasy managers with Kevin de Bruyne, Bernardo Silva, Joao Cancelo and Phil Foden very good choices too.
Fulham drew 0-0 at home to Everton last week and that point kept them in seventh place. They have won two of their last three away games and they scored seven goals in those games with only four other teams scoring more goals on the road. They have taken eight points from their last four games with only three other teams conceding more goals and only five other teams scoring more.
Aleksandar Mitrovic is the Fulham player of most interest to fantasy managers with Andreas Pereira worth a shout too.
I can’t see anything other than a comfortable City victory in this game.
Prediction: 4-1
Nottingham Forest v Brentford
3pm GMT, City Ground, Nottingham
Forest lost 5-0 away to Arsenal last week and that defeat left them rooted to the foot of the table. They have taken four points from their last two home games with only Southampton taking less points on their own ground. They had kept two clean sheets in a row before losing to Arsenal and their last two games before the World Cup are both at home against teams who they have a good chance of getting a result.
I can’t see any Forest players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
Brentford drew 1-1 at home to Wolves last week, but that point wasn’t enough to keep them in the top half of the table. They haven’t won away from home yet, but no other team has drawn more games on the road and only three other teams have conceded more goals. They have only won once in their last seven games and they failed to score in four of those games with only three other teams conceding more goals.
With Ivan Toney suspended I can’t see Brentford players who might do well for fantasy managers.
This is another tough game to call and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.
Prediction: 1-1
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Brighton And Hove Albion
3pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton
Wolves drew 1-1 away to Brentford last week, but that point wasn’t enough to move them out of the bottom three. They have taken eight of their 10 points at home, but no other team has scored less goals on their own patch. They have only taken one point from their last three games with only Forest losing more games and no other team scoring less goals.
I can’t see any Wolves players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
Brighton won 4-1 at home to Chelsea last week and that win was enough to keep them in the top half of the table. They have only taken one point from their last four away games, but they will hope to put that right in this game. The win against Chelsea was their first win in six games, but they have two very good games before the break for the World Cup.
Leandro Trossard is the Brighton player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers.
I think Brighton will build on their win last week by taking the three points in this game.
Prediction: 1-2
Everton v Leicester City
5.30pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool
Everton drew 0-0 away to Fulham last week and they’re still only two points off the top half of the table. They have taken seven points from their last four home games with no other team conceding less goals at home. They have taken four points while conceding no goals in their last two games and no other team has conceded less goals on their own ground.
Conor Coady might be of interest to fantasy managers with Alex Iwobi worth considering too.
Leicester lost 1-0 at home to City last week and that defeat saw them drop back into the relegation zone. They won their last away games after losing the previous five with no other team scoring more goals on the road and only Bournemouth conceding more. They had taken seven points and conceded no goals from their previous three games before losing to City, but they have two tough away games in a row starting with this one.
James Maddison remains the Leicester most likely to make an impact for fantasy managers.
I think this will be a close game and the chances are the spoils will be shared.
Prediction: 1-1
Sunday November 6
Chelsea v Arsenal
12pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea lost 4-1 away to Brighton last week and that defeat saw them drop to sixth in the table. They have taken 10 points from their last four home games, but this will be their biggest test so far. They haven’t won in three games and they play two of the teams above them in their last two games before the World Cup.
It’s difficult to single out any Chelsea players for fantasy managers, but Mason Mount and Raheem Sterling are probably the best of the bunch.
Arsenal won 5-0 at home to Forest last week to remain two points above City at the top of the table. No other team has taken more points or conceded less goals away from home, but this will be a very tough test for them. They have taken 16 points from their last six games with only City scoring more goals and only Newcastle conceding less.
There are so many Arsenal players for fantasy managers to choose with Gabriel Jesus, Gabriel Martinelli, Bukayo Saka, Martin Odegaard and all of their defenders looking like very good options.
I think this is a game which could go either way and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.
Prediction: 2-2
Aston Villa v Manchester United
2pm GMT, Villa Park, Birmingham
Villa lost 4-0 away to Newcastle last week and they’re now only one point above the bottom three. They have taken 10 of their 12 points at home with only three other teams conceding less goals on their own patch. They have only won once in their last six games and they failed to score in four of those games, but only three other teams have conceded less goals on their own ground.
I’m not sure there are any Villa players doing enough to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
United won 1-0 at home to West Ham last week to remain one point off the top four. They have taken 10 points from their last five away games and they have two away games to finish their fixtures before the World Cup. They have taken 11 points from their last five games and they kept clean sheets in three of those games.
Marcus Rashford and Diogo Daley are the in form United players for fantasy managers and they’re both definitely worth considering.
I think United will continue their improvement by taking the three points in this game.
Prediction: 0-2
Southampton v Newcastle United
2pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
Southampton lost 1-0 away to Palace last week and they’re only one point and one place above the relegation zone. They haven’t won in their last three home games and no other team has taken less points on their own ground. They have only won once in their last eight games and they failed to score in four of those games with only the bottom two teams scoring less goals.
I don’t think there are any Southampton players doing enough to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
Newcastle won 4-0 at home to Villa last week to keep their place in the top four. They have taken seven points from their last three away games and no other team has drawn more games on the road. They have taken 16 points from their last six games and they scored 16 goals in those games with no other team drawing more games.
Miguel Almiron, Kieran Trippier and Callum Wilson are the Newcastle players to have for fantasy managers.
I think this will be a close game with Newcastle narrowly taking the three points.
Prediction: 1-2
West Ham United v Crystal Palace
2pm GMT, London Stadium, London
West Ham lost 1-0 away to United last week to put a halt to their recent revival. They have won their last three home games and they scored seven goals in those games and they have two home games to play before the World Cup. Their away form has been their problem so far, but they will hope to climb the table with two home games in a row.
I’m not sure there are any West Ham players doing enough to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
Palace won 1-0 at home to Southampton last week and that win moved them into the top half of the table. They haven’t won away from home yet with only Forest scoring less goals on the road, but no other team has drawn more games on their travels. They have taken 10 points from their last five games, but their next two games are away from home and they have struggled on the road.
Wilfried Zaha is the Palace player to have for fantasy managers even if he has fallen off in recent weeks.
I think Palace will make a game of it and the chances are West Ham will take all three points.
Prediction: 2-1
Tottenham Hotspur v Liverpool
4.30pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
Spurs came back from 2-0 down to win 3-2 away to Bournemouth last week and that win kept them in third place. They have won five of their six home game with only three other teams scoring more goals on their own patch. They had lost two games in a row before beating Bournemouth and only the two teams above them have scored more goals.
With Son Heung-Min injured Spurs will have to rely on both Harry Kane and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg to do well for fantasy managers.
Liverpool lost 2-1 at home Leeds last week, but they managed to keep their place in the top half of the table. They still haven’t won away from home and no other team has taken less points on their travels. They have only won two of their last seven games and they need something from this game or they could drop into the bottom half of the table.
Mohamed Salah remains the best of the Liverpool players for fantasy managers.
I think this will be yet another close game with a draw being probably the most likely outcome.
Prediction: 1-1
That’s it for this week.
See you next week.
