Predictions For Premier League Gameweek Seven

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did well enough last week mainly due to three perfect predictions while I only had one correct outcome and six incorrect. I’ve now moved up to second place in my predictions league and here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My captain choice last week didn’t work out too well as Cristiano Ronaldo failed to produce, but he still looks like he could be the best choice for this week again. My cut price choice of Ismailia Sarr did the business yet again and he might just be one to have this week too while Conor Gallagher continues to impress too.

Saturday October 2

Manchester United v Everton

12.30pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United lost 1-0 at home to Villa last week after Bruno Fernandes missed a last minute penalty. Thar defeat was a big blow, but only City have scored more goals on their own patch. That was their first defeat of the season and only Liverpool have scored more goals, but their games get a lot tougher in a few weeks.

Despite their defeat last week Cristiano Ronaldo is still a very good bet for fantasy managers with Mason Greenwood and Bruno Fernandes worth considering too.

Everton won 2-0 at home to Norwich last week and they’re only one point off the top of the table. Their only defeat so far came away from home and they will fancy their chances after Villa’s win last week. Only three other teams have scored more goals, but they are conceding more goals than the other teams at the top of the table.

Demarai Gray, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Andros Townsend are all doing very well for fantasy managers and they’re all available at a good price.

I think this will be a close game with a draw probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Burnley v Norwich City

3pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley drew 2-2 away to Leicester last week and they’re still only one place off the foot of the table. They have only taken one point from their three home games with only Wolves and Southampton scoring less goals at home. They haven’t won a game yet with only four other teams scoring less goals and only three other teams conceding more.

I’m not sure there are any Burnley players to recommend to fantasy managers, but I suppose Chris Wood could do well in this game.

Norwich lost 2-0 away to Everton last week and they’re still rock bottom of the table with no points from six games. They’re the only team without a point or a goal away from home and no other team has conceded more goals on their travels. They only play one of the big six in their next eight games, but the way they’re playing that doesn’t really matter.

I can’t see any Norwich players who might make a difference for fantasy managers.

I think Burnley will get their much needed first win of the season in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Chelsea v Southampton

3pm BST, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea lost 1-0 at home to City last week, but they’re still only one point behind Liverpool at the top of the table. Only City have conceded less goals at home and they have a very good run of home games coming up. Their next six games are all against teams in the bottom half of the table and they are more than capable of taking full points from those games.

With a very good run of games coming up Romelu Lukaku and all of Chelsea’s defenders and keeper look like very good choices for fantasy managers.

Southampton lost 1-0 at home to Wolves last week and they’re only one point above the bottom three without a win in their first six games. They drew their last away game against City, but they will do very well to get anything out of this game. They might not have won a game yet, but no other team has drawn more games.

Tino Livramento could be the Southampton player to have for fantasy managers and he’s available at a very good price.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Chelsea win in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Leeds United v Watford

3pm BST, Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds lost 2-1 at home to West Ham last week and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom three with no wins in their first six games. Only Norwich and Wolves have taken less points at home with only Wolves and Southampton scoring less points on their own ground. They only play one of the big six in their next nine games, but only Norwich have conceded more goals.

Despite their lack of wins Raphinha looks like a very good choice for fantasy managers at the moment.

Watford drew 1-1 at home to Newcastle last week and they’re still comfortably in mid-table. They won their last away game against Norwich and they will feel they have a good chance in this game too. They have a very tough run of games coming up after this one and they could struggle for points until early December.

Ismailia Sarr is the Watford player to have for fantasy managers while Emmanuel Dennis is a good cut price option too.

I think this will be a close game, but Leeds should get their first win of the season.

Prediction: 2-1

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Newcastle United

3pm BST, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves won 1-0 away to Southampton last week to make it two wins in their last three games. They’re one of two teams without a point at home and the only team that hasn’t scored at home so far. They have won two of their last three games and they kept clean sheets in both of those wins, but only Norwich have scored less goals.

With a good run of games Raul Jiminez could be an interesting choice for fantasy managers while the Wolves keeper and defenders are worth a shout too.

Newcastle drew 1-1 away to Watford last week and they’re only above the relegation zone on goal difference with no wins in six games. They have only taken one point away from home with only Norwich and Palace conceding more goals on the road. They’re one of five teams without a win with only Norwich conceding more goals.

With Callum Wilson still injured it looks like Allan Saint-Maximin is the Newcastle player to have for fantasy managers.

I think Wolves will make it back to back wins by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-0

Brighton And Hove Albion v Arsenal

5.30pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton got a last minute goal to draw 1-1 away to Palace last week and they’re only one point off the top of the table. Their only defeat so far came at home to Everton and they will fancy their chances in this game. They haven’t scored as many goals as the other teams at the top of the table, but they have managed to win some very tight games.

Both Neal Maupay and Shane Duffy are doing very well for fantasy managers at the moment.

Arsenal won 3-1 at home to Spurs last week to move into the top half of the table for the first time this season. They won their last away game against Burnley, but only Norwich and Palace have conceded more goals away from home. They have won their last three games and they only conceded one goal in those games, but only four other teams have conceded more goals.

Bukayo Saka and Emile Smith-Rowe are both available at a very good price with a good run of games coming up.

I think this will be a very close game with Arsenal probably narrowly shading it.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday October 3

Crystal Palace v Leicester City

2pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace drew 1-1 at home to Brighton last week after they conceded a last minute goal. That was the first goal they conceded at home and only City have conceded less goals on their own patch. They have only lost one of their last five games, but only Southampton have drawn more games.

Conor Gallagher and Wilfried Zaha are both well worth picking for fantasy managers with Gallagher available at a very good price too.

Leicester drew 2-2 at home to Burnley last week and that was their first point in three games. They have lost two of their three away games with only Norwich and Palace conceding more goals away from home. They have only won once in their last five games and only four other teams have conceded more goals.

Jamie Vardy appears to be the only Leicester player who is performing well for fantasy managers at the moment.

This is a tough game to call and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa

2pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs lost 3-1 away to Arsenal last week and they dropped into the bottom half of the table after topping it only three games ago. They have won two of their three home games, but only Wolves and Southampton have scored less goals at home. They have lost their last three games and they conceded nine goals in those three games while only scoring one.

Heung-Min Son is the only Spurs player making any sort of an impression for fantasy managers at the moment, but surely Harry Kane will get going soon.

Villa won 1-0 away to United last week and they’re now only three points off the top four. They had lost their previous two away games, but they have every chance of getting something from this game. They have won their last two games without conceding a goal and they have kept three clean sheets in their last five games.

Danny Ings has done well for fantasy managers since joining Villa while their defenders and keeper are all worth considering too.

This is another difficult game to call, but I have a feeling Villa might just take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

West Ham United v Brentford

2pm BST, London Stadium, London

West Ham won 2-1 away to Leeds last week and they’re only two points off the top four after an impressive start to their season. They have only won once at home so far and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in any of their three home games. Only Liverpool have scored more goals, but Arsenal are the only team in the top half of the table to have conceded more goals.

Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma are doing really well for fantasy managers while Aaron Cresswell and Pablo Fornals aren’t doing too badly either.

Brentford drew 3-3 at home to Liverpool last week and they have only lost one of their six games since their promotion to the top flight. They are unbeaten away from home and no other team has conceded less goals on their travels. They have only lost one game so far and only the top three have conceded less goals.

Ivan Toney looks like he might just be the real deal for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper are all worth considering too.

I think West Ham’s great start to the season will continue with three points in this game as long as they can recover from their midweek European game.

Prediction: 2-1

Liverpool v Manchester City

4.30pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool went to the top of the table after a 3-3 draw away to Brentford last week and they play the team directly below them in this game. Only Everton have taken more points at home and only City have conceded less goals on their own ground. They’re the only team still unbeaten and they have scored more goals than any other team with only City and Chelsea conceding less.

Mohamed Salah is still the Liverpool player to have for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper as well as Sadio Mane and Diogo Jota are very good choices too.

City won 1-0 away to Chelsea last week to move up to second place and they face an equally difficult task in this game. They have won their last two away games without conceding a goal and no other team has conceded less goals on the road. They have kept five clean sheets in a row with no other team conceding less goals and only three other teams conceding more.

City’s defenders and keeper are doing really well for fantasy managers while while Jack Grealish and Gabriel Jesus seem to be in favour at the moment and a fit again Kevin de Bruyne is always worth having.

I think this will be a very close game with a draw probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
