Friday March 19
Fulham v Leeds United
8pm GMT, Craven Cottage, London
Fulham lost 3-0 at home to City last week to stay in the relegation zone, but a win in this game could move them out of it. They have only won once in their last 11 home games with no other team taking less points or scoring less goals at home. They have taken 12 points from their last eight games and they kept five clean sheets in those games with no other team in the bottom half of the table conceding less goals.
Fulham’s defenders and keeper have looked good in recent weeks for fantasy managers.
Leeds drew 0-0 at home to Chelsea last week to keep themselves 10 points clear of the bottom three. They are the only team who haven’t drawn a game away from home, but only the bottom two clubs have lost more games on the road and only Southampton have conceded more away goals. They have only taken four points from their last six games and they failed to score in four of those games, but only six other teams have scored more goals.
Leeds haven’t been in good form recently, but Patrick Bamford (if he’s fit) is still worth considering for fantasy managers while Stuart Dallas and Raphinha are fairly good choices too.
I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Leeds get their first away draw of the season.
Prediction: 1-1
Saturday March 20
Brighton And Hove Albion v Newcastle United
8pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton
Brighton won 2-1 away to Southampton last week and those three precious points moved them three points clear of the relegation zone. They have only taken one point from their last three home games with no other team wining less home games or taking less points at home. Their win against Southampton last week was their first win in six games and no other team has drawn more games.
Brighton haven’t done too badly defensively recently and Lewis Dunk looks like a pretty good choice for fantasy managers.
Newcastle got a last minute goal to draw 1-1 at home to Villa last week and that point moved them two points above the bottom three. They have only taken one point from their last three away games with only the bottom two teams taking less points on their travels. They haven’t won in five games, but they have drawn their last three and they need to get Callum Wilson back from injury as soon as possible.
With Wilson injured I can’t see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
I don’t think we’ll see too many goals in this game, but the chances are Brighton will win narrowly.
Prediction: 1-0
Sunday March 21
West Ham United v Arsenal
3pm GMT, London Stadium, London
West Ham lost 1-0 away to United last week, but they’re still in fifth place and they’re only three points behind Chelsea with a game in hand on them. They have won five of their last six home games with only City taking more points at home. They have taken 25 points from their last 12 games, but they have some tough games coming up which could determine their chances of European football for next season.
Michail Antonio, Jessie Lingard and Aaron Cresswell are the West Ham players who can make a difference for fantasy managers.
Arsenal came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Spurs last week, but it still wasn’t enough to move them any higher than 10th place. They have taken four points from their last two away games after losing the previous two and only four other teams have conceded less goals away from home. They have taken seven points from their last three games and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in seven games even though only three other teams have conceded less goals.
Kieran Tierney, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Willian have all done well recently for fantasy managers and they’re all worth considering.
This looks like being another very close game and I think Arsenal will probably just shade it.
Prediction: 1-2
Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur
7.30pm GMT, Villa Park, Birmingham
Villa conceded a last minute goal to draw 1-1 away to Newcastle last week to stay in ninth place, but they have games in hand on all of the teams above them. They haven’t won their last two home games, but four of their next five are on their own patch. They have only won once in their last six games and they only scored three goals in those games as they have struggled without the injured Jack Grealish.
As long as Grealish is injured it’s hard to see any of Villa’s attacking players doing well for fantasy managers, but Emiliano Martinez is a very good choice in goal.
Spurs lost 2-1 away to Arsenal last week after taking the lead and they dropped back to eighth place as a result. They have lost four of their last five away games and three of their next four games are away from home. They had won three games in a row before losing to Arsenal, but they probably have the best run in of any team chasing a top four spot.
Harry Kane and Gareth Bale are the Spurs players most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.
This looks like yet another very close game and the chances are the spoils will be shared.
Prediction: 1-1
That’s it for this week.
See you next week.
