Sheffield United v West Bromwich Albion
6pm GMT, Bramall Lane, Sheffield
United lost 1-0 away to City on Saturday afternoon and they’re now 13 points from safety at the foot of the table. No other team has taken less points or scored less goals at home, but they will feel they have a chance of getting something from this game. They have taken six points from their last four games, but no other team has scored less goals and only three other teams have conceded more.
I still can’t see any United players to recommend to fantasy managers.
West Brom drew 2-2 at home to Fulham on Saturday and they’re four points and one place ahead of Sheffield United going into this game. Only Sheffield United have taken less points away from home and only Leeds have conceded more goals on their travels. They have only won once in their last 11games and no other team has conceded more goals with only Sheffield United and Burnley scoring less.
Matheus Pereira is the only West Brom player for fantasy managers to consider as he has four goals and an assist in his last four games.
This is a huge game for the bottom two clubs in the league and I think United will give their feint hopes a boost with a narrow victory.
Prediction: 2-1
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Arsenal
6pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton
Wolves lost 1-0 away to Palace on Saturday as their slide towards the wrong end of the table continued. They have only won once in their last six home games and they have a tough run of home games coming up. They have only taken three points from their last eight games with only four other teams scoring less goals.
I’m not sure there are any Wolves players who can make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.
Arsenal drew 0-0 at home to United on Saturday and they’re only four points off the top five despite being in 10th place. They have won their last three away games and they only conceded one goal in those games with only City conceding less goals. They have taken 17 points from their last seven games and they only conceded two goals in those games with only City conceding less goals.
Arsenal’s keeper and defenders are all looking very good for fantasy managers at the moment while Bukayo Saka (if he’s fit) and Emile Smith-Rowe are good reasonably priced options.
I think Arsenal’s good form will continue with a narrow victory in this game.
Prediction: 1-2
Manchester United v Southampton
8.15pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester
United drew 0-0 away to Arsenal on Saturday and they’re now three points behind City at the top of the table having played a game more. They have lost as many games as they have won at home, but only three other teams have conceded more goals at home. They have only lost once in their last 15 games with only Liverpool scoring more goals, but no other team in the top half of the table has conceded more.
Bruno Fernandes is still the United player to have for fantasy managers with Marcus Rashford doing pretty well too.
Southampton lost 1-0 at home to Villa on Saturday night and they’re still only six points off the top five despite being in the bottom half of the table. They haven’t won in their last three away games, but they have only lost two games on the road. They have only won once in eight games and they failed to score in five of those games, but they’re still capable of beating any team.
James Ward-Prowse and Danny Ings are still the Southampton players most likely to perform for fantasy managers, but things haven’t exactly worked for them in recent weeks.
I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Southampton take a point off United.
Prediction: 1-1
Newcastle United v Crystal Palace
8.15pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle
Newcastle won 2-0 away to Everton on Saturday and that was enough to move them eight points clear of the relegation zone. They have only taken two points from their last four home games with only two other teams conceding more goals at home. Their win at Everton was their first win in 10 games and they failed to score in five of those games with only three other teams conceding more goals.
Callum Wilson is still the only Newcastle player for fantasy managers to even consider.
Palace won 1-0 at home to Wolves on Saturday and they’re still sitting comfortably in mid-table. They haven’t won in their last four away games and they haven’t scored in their last three with only three other teams conceding more goals away from home. They have only won two of their last 10 games with only West Brom conceding more goals.
Wilfried Zaha remains the solitary Palace player who might make an impact for fantasy managers.
I think this will be a very close game with Newcastle possibly getting their second win in a row.
Prediction: 2-1
Wednesday February 3
Burnley v Manchester City
6pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley
Burnley lost 2-0 away to Chelsea on Sunday, but recent results have given them an eight point cushion over the bottom three. They have taken 13 points in their last six home games, but only three other teams have scored less goals at home and only two other teams have conceded less. They have taken 17 points from their last 11 games, but only Sheffield United have scored less goals.
Nick Pope is proving yet again to be a very good keeper for fantasy managers.
City won 1-0 at home to Sheffield United on Saturday to go three points clear at the top of the table with a game in hand on the next four teams below them. They have taken 10 points from their last four away games and they only conceded one goal in those games with no other team conceding less goals away from home. They have taken 32 points from their last 12 games and they and they only conceded two goals in those games with no other team conceding less goals and only Liverpool scoring more.
City’s rotation really hit some fantasy managers badly last week, but the best bets are still their keeper and defenders while Ilkay Gundogan has done very well recently too.
I think City’s tremendous run will continue with another win in this game.
Prediction: 0-2
Fulham v Leicester City
6pm GMT, Craven Cottage, London
Fulham drew 2-2 away to West Brom on Saturday and they’re now seven points adrift of the relative safety of seventeenth place. They haven’t won in their last six home games and they failed to score in three of the last four with only Sheffield United taking less points and scoring less goals at home. They haven’t won in 10 games, but they drew seven of them with only Brighton drawing more games.
I still can’t see any Fulham players to interest fantasy managers.
Leicester lost 3-1 at home to Leeds on Sunday, but they’re still in the top four and four points clear of fifth placed West Ham. They have won seven of their 10 away games with only United taking more points on the road. Their defeat against Leeds was their first defeat in eight games with only Liverpool scoring more goals.
With Jamie Vardy injured it looks like James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are the Leicester players most likely to do well for fantasy managers.
I think Leicester’s away form might be just enough to see them take the three points in this game.
Prediction: 1-2
Leeds United v Everton
7.30pm GMT, Elland Road, Leeds
Leeds won 3-1 away to Leicester on Sunday and they’re now only two points off the top half of the table. They have only won twice in their last eight home games and they have taken a lot more points and scored a lot more goals on their travels. They have taken 12 points from their last six games with only the top four scoring more goals and only West Brom conceding more.
If he’s fit to play Patrick Bamford looks like he’s back in form for fantasy managers while Stuart Dallas is worth considering too.
Everton lost 2-0 at home to Newcastle on Saturday and they missed the chance to close the gap on the top four. They have taken 13 points from their last five away games with only two other teams taking more points and only City conceding less goals goals on the road. They have only won once in their last four games and they failed to score in two of those games.
I’m not sure there are any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment considering the run of games they have coming up.
I think this will be another very close game with the spoils more than likely being shared.
Prediction: 1-1
Aston Villa v West Ham United
8.15pm GMT, Villa Park, Birmingham
Villa won 1-0 away to Southampton on Saturday and they’re only three points off the top five with two games in hand on most of the teams ahead of them. They have taken seven points and conceded no goals in their last three home games and they still have 11 home games to play. They have lost three of their last five games, but five of their last six games have been away from home.
Jack Grealish is still the Villa player most likely to make an impression for fantasy managers with Emiliano Martinez, Matt Targett and Bertrand Traore all worth considering too.
West Ham lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool on Sunday to put an end to a very good run and they’re still in fifth place. They have taken eight points from their last five home games with only three other teams taking more points at home. They had taken 14 points from the six games before the defeat against Liverpool and they kept clean sheets in three of those games.
Michail Antonio is the West Ham player most likely to do well for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper are worth considering too.
This isn’t an easy game to call, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see West Ham win narrowly.
Prediction: 1-2
Liverpool v Brighton And Hove Albion
8.15pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool
Liverpool won 3-1 away to West Ham on Sunday, but they’re four points behind City at the top of the table and they have played a game more. Only City have taken more points and scored more goals at home, but they haven’t won their last three games on their own ground. They have won their last two games after failing to win the previous five and no other team has scored more goals.
Mohamed Salah seems to have found his form for fantasy managers again as does Sadio Mane as long as he’s fit to play.
Brighton won 1-0 at home to Spurs on Sunday to give themselves some breathing space above the relegation zone. They have taken eight points from their last six away games and they have taken more points and scored more goals away from home then they have at home. They have taken seven points from their last three games and they didn’t concede any goals in those games.
If they’re going to continue with their current defensive displays Lewis Dunk and Robert Sanchez could be worth considering for fantasy managers.
Despite Brighton’s recent results I think Liverpool will be too strong for them and should win by a few goals.
Prediction: 3-0
Thursday February 4
Tottenham Hotspur v Chelsea
8pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London
Spurs lost 1-0 away to Brighton on Sunday and they’re now six points off the top four after topping the table not so long ago. They have only won once in their last four home games and they won’t find this game easy either. They have only won twice in their last nine games and they’re in the middle of a very tough run.
With Harry Kane injured Heung-Min Son is the Spurs player most likely to do well for fantasy managers at the moment.
Chelsea won 2-0 at home to Burnley on Sunday and they’re still within two points of the top five. They have lost four of their last five away games and this will be the first big test for their new manager. They have only taken 11 points from their last 10 games, but they have kept three clean sheets in their last four games.
Antonio Rudiger and Thiago Silva have done very well recently for fantasy managers and they’re both available at a good price too.
I think this will be another very close game and the chances are it will end in a draw.
Prediction: 1-1
That’s it for this week.
See you next week.
