Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 13

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did quite well last week with three perfect predictions, two correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which left me still on top of my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Tuesday December 15

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Chelsea

6pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves lost 1-0 at home to Villa last week and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table. They have only won once in their last four home games and no other team has conceded less goals at home, but only five other teams have scored less. They have lost three of their last five games and they failed to score in each of those defeats and only four other teams have scored less goals.

With Raul Jiminez injured Wolves are struggling for goals and it’s tough to see which of their players might make a difference for fantasy managers.

Chelsea lost 1-0 away to Brighton last week and that defeat was enough to drop them out of the top four. The defeat against Everton was their first away defeat of the season with only three other teams scoring more goals on their travels and only three other teams conceding less too. They were unbeaten in nine games before losing to Everton with only Liverpool scoring more goals and only Spurs conceding less.

Chelsea’s defenders and keeper have all done very well for fantasy managers and they have a good run of games coming up.

I think this will be a very close game with Chelsea probably taking the points thanks to the absence of Jiminez.

Prediction: 0-1

Manchester City v West Bromwich Albion

8pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City drew 0-0 away to United last week and they remain six points behind the leaders with a game in hand. They struggled in their first few home games, but they have won their last two and scored seven goals in the process with no other team conceding less goals at home. They have kept clean sheets in their last three games with only Spurs conceding less goals and their upcoming fixtures don’t look too bad.

Kevin de Bruyne is the City player to have for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper are doing very well recently too.

West Brom lost 2-1 away to Newcastle last week and they’re still only one place off the foot of the table. They have lost five of their six away games with no other team conceding more goals on the road and only Sheffield United scoring less. They have lost five of their last six games with no other team conceding more goals and only Sheffield United and Burnley scoring less.

I can’t see any West Brom players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I can’t see anything other than a comprehensive City victory in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Wednesday December 16

Arsenal v Southampton

6pm GMT, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal lost 1-0 at home to Burnley last week and they’re still 15th in the table with the bottom three getting closer bit by bit. They have lost their last four home games with only three other teams scoring less goals on their own patch. They have only taken four points from their last eight games and they failed to score in six of those games with only three other teams scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Arsenal players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Southampton won 3-0 at home to Sheffield United last week and that win was enough to move them up into the top four. They have taken 11 points from their last five away games with only three other teams scoring more goals on their travels. They have taken 23 points from their last 10 games with only two other teams scoring more goals.

There are so many Southampton players to choose from for fantasy managers with Danny Ings, Che Adams, James Ward-Prowse, Jannik Vestergaard and Jan Bednarek all worth having.

As an Arsenal fan I have to pick my own team to take the points even if my confidence in them is at an all time low.

Prediction: 2-1

Leeds United v Newcastle United

6pm GMT, Elland Road, Leeds

Leeds lost 2-1 at home to West Ham last week and they’re still in 14th place. They have only won once in their six home games and only three other teams have conceded more goals at home. They have lost four of their last six games with only West Brom conceding more goals.

Patrick Bamford is still the Leeds player of choice for fantasy managers with Mateusz Klich, Stuart Dallas and Illan Meslier worth considering too.

Newcastle won 2-1 at home to West Brom last week and they’re only one point off the top half of the table. They have only lost one of their five away games and only Villa have conceded less goals on their travels. They have won their last two games and they play teams below them in this and their next game before things get decidedly tougher for them.

Callum Wilson is still the only Newcastle player for fantasy managers to consider.

I think this will be another very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Everton

6pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester won 3-0 at home to Brighton last week to move back to within a point the two teams ahead of them at the top of the table. They have lost as many games as they have won at home and they have some tough home games coming up. They’re one of two teams without a draw so far with only Liverpool and Chelsea scoring more goals.

Jamie Vardy is still the Leicester player of choice for fantasy managers while James Maddison has come good recently too.

Everton won 1-0 at home to Chelsea last week to move back within three points of the top four. They have taken 10 points from their six away games which is as many as they have taken at home. The win against Chelsea was only their second win in eight games and they play three of the teams above them in their next six games.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the Everton player to have for fantasy managers with the rest of their better performers fading recently.

This is a tough game to call, but the chances are Leicester will take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

Fulham v Brighton And Hove Albion

8pm GMT, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham drew 1-1 at home to Liverpool last week, but it wasn’t enough to keep them out of the relegation zone. They have lost four of their six home games with no other team conceding more goals on their own patch. They have taken seven points from their last six games, but only West Brom have conceded more goals.

Ademola Lookman has done quite well since joining Fulham and he’s available at a very good price too.

Brighton lost 3-0 away to Leicester last week and they’re now only two points above the bottom three. They have taken seven of their 10 points away from home and they have scored more goals on their travels too. They have only won once in their last 10 games, but they play teams below them in this and their next game.

I can’t see any Brighton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

This is a big game for two teams looking to move up the table and I wouldn’t be surprised if the spoils are shared.

Prediction: 2-2

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur

8pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool drew 1-1 away to Fulham last week and they’re still behind Spurs at the top of the table on goal difference. They’re the only team with a 100% record at home with no other team scoring more or conceding less goals at home. They’re unbeaten in eight games, but they have drawn four of them and no other team has scored more goals.

Mohamed Salah is the most consistent of the Liverpool players for fantasy managers while Sadio Mane, Andy Robertson and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all worth considering too.

Spurs drew 1-1 away to Palace last week to stay ahead of Liverpool on goal difference at the top of the table. They’re one of two teams unbeaten away from home with only two other teams scoring more goals on their travels and only Villa conceding less. They’re unbeaten in 11 games since losing their opening game and no other team has conceded less goals.

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son just can’t seem to stop performing for fantasy managers and it’s difficult to compete without at least one of them in your team.

I think Liverpool’s home record should be enough to see them take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

West Ham United v Crystal Palace

8pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham won 2-1 away to Leeds last week and they’re only three points off the top four. They have taken 10 points from their last five home games and they have a good run of home games coming up. They have won four of their last five games and they only play one of the teams above them in their next eight games.

Jarrod Bowen and Pablo Fornals have done very well for fantasy managers while Angelo Ogbonna is doing well at a good price too.

Palace drew 1-1 at home to Spurs last week and they’re only one point off the top half of the table. They have won as many games as they have lost away from home and they have scored more goals on their travels than they have at home. They’re a much different proposition with Wilfried Zaha in the team, but they have a tough run of games coming up.

Zaha is the Palace player to have for fantasy managers with Eberechi Eze an outside shot.

I think this will be another close game with West Ham probably emerging victorious.

Prediction: 2-1

Thursday December 17

Aston Villa v Burnley

6pm GMT, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa won 1-0 away to Wolves last week to move back into the top half of the table and they still have two games in hand on most other teams. Since putting seven past Liverpool they have lost their last three home games and they conceded nine goals in those defeats. They play two of the bottom four in their next two games including this one and only three other teams have conceded less goals.

Jack Grealish is still the standout Villa player for fantasy managers while Emiliano Martinez, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and John McGinn have done pretty well too.

Burnley won 1-0 away to Arsenal last week to move one place above the relegation zone. They have taken four points in their last two home games and no other team has scored or conceded less goals at home. With seven points from their last four games they are heading in the right direction and their festive schedule gives them a good chance to maintain that momentum.

Nick Pope seems to be back to his point scoring best for fantasy managers and he’s certainly worth considering.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams with Villa possibly putting an end to their recent poor home run.

Prediction: 2-1

Sheffield United v Manchester United

8pm GMT, Bramall Lane, Sheffield

United lost 3-0 away to Southampton last week and they are firmly rooted to the foot of the table almost looking like relegation certainties already. They’re one of two teams without a home win and no other team has scored less goals on their own ground. They have lost their last seven games and no other team has scored less goals, but they do play some of the other struggling teams over their next few games.

I can’t see any United players to recommend to fantasy managers.

United drew 0-0 at home to City last week, but they’re still only three points off the top four with a game in hand on all of the teams above them. They are the only team with a 100% record away from home and no other team has scored more goals on the road. They have taken 13 points from their last five games and they will hope to climb the table over the festive season with some fairly kind fixtures.

Bruno Fernandes is the outstanding United player for fantasy managers while Marcus Rashford is doing pretty well too.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Manchester United victory in this game.

Prediction: 0-3

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
