Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 33

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I had an average week last week with one perfect prediction, five correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which saw me stay in second place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

I did fairly well with my fantasy team too, but I slipped a little in the rankings to just inside the top 50,000 overall. My choice of Alexander Isak as my captain sort of paid off as he had a goal and assist across the two games he played. He was assisted by Dan Burn, Mohamed Salah, Ismaila Sarr, Jacob Murphy and Omar Marmoush and I’ll be hoping for more from some of those players this week.

I considered using my bench boost last week and I would have scored 14 points if I did, but hopefully I will do even better with it this week. Arsenal, Villa, Palace and City all play twice this week and I have built my team to have as many of their players as possible. The big question is where will I put the armband and I honestly don’t know at this point, but it might just have to be Marmoush.

Saturday April 19

Brentford v Brighton And Hove Albion

3pm BST, Gtech Community Stadium, London

Brentford came from behind to draw 1-1 away to Arsenal last week, but they’re now five points off the top half of the table. They haven’t won in their last eight home games with only the bottom five conceding more goals on their own ground. They have only won once in their last six games, but they have a good run of games to finish their season.

Bryan Mbeumo and Yoane Wissa are still the Brentford players to have for fantasy managers.

Brighton led twice at home to Leicester last week, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw which saw them drop to 10th place. They have only won once in their last four away games, but only two other teams have scored more goals on the road. They have only taken two points from their last four games and they conceded nine goals in those games with no other team in the top half of the table conceding more goals.

Joao Pedro scored twice for fantasy managers last week and he’s probably the Brighton player most likely to do well.

I think this will be a very close game with a draw being the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace v Bournemouth

3pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace lost 5-2 away to City and then 5-0 away to Newcastle last week to leave them five points off the top half of the table. They have won their last three home games and they scored seven goals in those games, but only the bottom three have scored less goals on their own patch. They had only lost twice in 13 games before conceding those 10 goals in two games last week and they still have to play three of the top four in their remaining six games.

With another two games this week Palace players such as Daniel Munoz, Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta can all do very well for fantasy managers.

Bournemouth won 1-0 at home to Fulham last week and that win moved them ahead of Fulham into eighth place on goal difference. They haven’t won in their last three away games, but only the top four have taken more points on the road. They hadn’t won in six games before beating Fulham and they have a tough run of games to finish the season.

Antoine Semenyo, Milos Kerkez, Evanilson and Justin Kluivert (if he’s fit) are all good options for fantasy managers.

This looks like being another very close game and the chances are the spoils will be shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Everton v Manchester City

3pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton scored a last gasp goal to win 1-0 away to Forest last week and that win moved them up to 13th place. They are unbeaten in six home games, but they drew four of them with no other team drawing more games on their own ground. They have only lost one of their last 12 games, but no other team has drawn more games with only the bottom three scoring less goals and only two other teams conceding less.

Everton seem to have found some defensive solidity again which could make their defenders and keeper good choices for fantasy managers.

City came back from 2-0 down to win 5-2 at home to Palace last week and that win moved them up to fifth place. They have only won once in their last four away games and their last three games on the road are all against teams below them in the table. They have only lost three of their last 15 games with only Liverpool scoring more goals and all of their remaining games are against teams below them in the table.

Omar Marmoush looks like the best option in the City team for fantasy managers, but with two games this week Kevin de Bruyne and Josko Gvardiol are well worth considering too.

I think City will get the win they need to keep up the pressure in their chase for a top four finish.

Prediction: 1-2

West Ham United v Southampton

3pm BST, London Stadium, London

West Ham conceded late on to lose 2-1 away to Liverpool last week and they’re now only one place above the bottom three and they have 14 points to spare. They have only won two of their last eight home games with only the bottom three conceding more goals on their own patch. They have only taken two points from their last five games, but four of their last six opponents are in the bottom seven.

Jarrod Bowen remains by far the best option in the West Ham team fantasy managers.

Southampton lost 3-0 at home to Villa last week and they still need to get another point to match the worst total ever in the Premier League. They have lost six of their last seven away games with no other team scoring less goals on their travels and only Leicester conceding more. They have only taken one point from their last eight games with no other team scoring less or conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Southampton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think West Ham will get a badly needed win to confirm their Premier League status for another season.

Prediction: 3-1

Aston Villa v Newcastle United

5.30pm BST, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa won 3-0 away to Southampton last week to keep their chances of a top four finish very much alive. They are unbeaten in 15 home games, but they drew seven of them with no other team drawing more games on their own ground. They have won their last four games and they scored nine goals in those games, but they have two very tough games this week.

Morgan Rogers is probably the best bet in the Villa team for fantasy managers, but with two games this week Marcus Rashford, Ollie Watkins and Marco Asensio look like good options too.

Newcastle won 4-1 at home to United and 5-0 at home to Palace last week and those two wins moved them up to third place. They have won their last two away games without conceding any goals with only Liverpool and Arsenal taking more points on the road. They have won their last five games and they scored 15 goals in those games with only Liverpool and City scoring more goals.

Alexander Isak and Jacob Murphy are doing really well for fantasy managers while Harvey Barnes should be considered too as long as he keeps his place ahead of Anthony Gordon.

This is a huge game for both teams in their quests for a top for finish and I think it will go the way of the home team.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunday April 20

Fulham v Chelsea

2pm BST, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham lost 1-0 away to Bournemouth last week and their chances of European football are fading at the moment. They have won their last two home games and they scored five goals in those games with both of those wins being against big six teams. They have won six and lost six of their last 12 games and three of their next four games are against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Alex Iwobi, Antonee Robinson and Rodrigo Muniz can all do a job for fantasy managers.

Chelsea came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 at home to Ipswich last week, but those dropped points cost them their place in the top four. They have only taken three points from their last eight away games and they only scored three goals in those games. They have only lost once in their last six games and they play two of the teams above them in the next few weeks which could be crucial for their top four hopes.

Cole Palmer still looks like the best option for fantasy managers in the Chelsea team despite his lack of returns in recent games.

I think Fulham might just have enough on their own ground to take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Ipswich Town v Arsenal

2pm BST, Portman Road, Ipswich

Ipswich led 2-0 away to Chelsea last week and they will be relegated if they lose this game and Wolves and West Ham win their games. They have lost their last six home games and they conceded 20 goals in those games with only Southampton conceding more goals on their own ground. They have only taken five points from their last 12 games and they failed to keep a clean sheet in any of those games with only the two teams below them scoring less and conceding more goals.

If he’s fit to play Liam Delap is the Ipswich player who can do well for fantasy managers.

Arsenal had to settle for a 1-1 draw at home to Brentford last week after leading and they are now 13 points behind Liverpool at the top of the table with just six games left to play. They are unbeaten in their last 11 away games, but they drew six of them with no other team drawing more games on the road. They have only lost once in their last 22 games with no other team conceding less goals and only Everton drawing more games.

With two games this week Arsenal’s defenders and keeper look like very good choices for fantasy managers with Bukayo Saka, Gabriel Martinelli and Mikel Merino worth considering too.

I think Arsenal will make Liverpool wait just a little longer for their league title by taking all three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

Manchester United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

2pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United lost 4-1 away to Newcastle last week and they are now set for their worst points ever in the Premier League. They have only won twice in their last nine home games, but their next two games on their own patch are against teams below them in the table. They have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last three games and their only chance of European football next season is by winning the Europa League.

Besides Bruno Fernandes I can’t see any United players who can make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Wolves won 4-2 at home to Spurs last week and that win moved them above West Ham into 16th place. They have won their last three away games after losing the previous three with only two other teams conceding more goals on their travels. They have won their last four games while scoring nine goals in those games and the chances are their survival will be confirmed if they win this game.

Matheus Cunha and Jorgen Strand Larsen are the Wolves players to watch for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end all square.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Liverpool

4.30pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester twice came from behind to draw 2-2 away to Brighton last week, but they will be relegated if they lose this game and they still can be if they win. They have lost their last eight home games without scoring and they conceded 21 goals in those games with no other team scoring less goals on their own ground. They had lost eight games in a row without scoring before their draw last week with only Southampton scoring less and conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Leicester players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

Liverpool scored a very late goal to win 2-1 at home to West Ham last week and they could be crowned champions if they win this game and Arsenal lose to Ipswich. They were unbeaten in 15 games away from home before losing to Fulham in their last game on the road with no other scoring more away goals. They have won five of their last six games with no other team scoring more goals and only Arsenal conceding less, but they will probably have to wait another week to win the league.

Mohamed Salah has fallen off in recent weeks, but he’s still a must have for fantasy managers with Luis Diaz plus the Liverpool defenders and keeper very good options too.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool victory in this game.

Prediction: 0-4

Monday April 21

Tottenham Hotspur v Nottingham Forest

8pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs lost 4-2 away to Wolves last week and they dropped to 15th in the table with the two teams below them very close behind. They have taken seven points from their last four home games after failing to win the previous seven with only three other teams scoring more goals on their own patch. They have only won once in their last six games with only the bottom three losing more games.

Despite their lowly position Spurs players like Brennan Johnson and James Maddison can still do well for fantasy managers.

Forest lost 1-0 at home to Everton last week and that defeat saw them drop to fourth place after Newcastle won twice. They have lost four of their last five away games and they conceded 13 goals in those games, but only Liverpool have won more games on their travels. They have lost their last two games, but their next five games are against teams in the bottom half of the table.

Chris Wood and Anthony Elanga are the Forest players most likely to do well for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be another close game with Forest probably winning it by the odd goal.

Prediction: 1-2

Tuesday April 22

Manchester City v Aston Villa

8pm BST, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City play their second game of the week and this could be a big one for them against one of the other teams chasing a top four spot. They have taken 16 points from their last seven home games and they scored 20 goals in those games with no other team scoring more goals on their own ground.

The City players I mentioned above can all have a very good week for fantasy managers.

Villa play their second game of the week and they’re both against other teams in the battle for a top four finish. They have won their last three away games without conceding a goal and they scored seven goals in those games.

As with City the Villa players I already mentioned can do really well for fantasy managers this week, but they do have two very difficult games.

This is a tough game to call and the chances are it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 2-2

Wednesday April 23

Arsenal v Crystal Palace

8pm BST, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal play their second game of the week and they can more or less guarantee a top four finish if they win both games. They have only lost one of their 16 home games with only Liverpool and Forest conceding less goals on their own ground.

The Arsenal players I suggested above can all potentially do very well for fantasy managers this week.

Palace play their second game of the week and they are both tough games. They lost their last two away games and they conceded 10 goals in those games, but they were unbeaten in 10 games on the road before those games.

After conceding 10 goals last week it’s probably best for fantasy managers to avoid Palace defenders, but Eberechi Eze, Ismaila Sarr and Jean-Philippe Mateta can all still have a good week.

I think Arsenal will make it two wins out of two, but Palace will make a game of it.

Prediction: 3-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
