Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 14

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did pretty well last week with two perfect predictions, four correct outcomes and four incorrect outcomes which moved me up a little further in my predictions league. I’m currently seventh in that league and here’s a look at how the top five stands.

Saturday November 30

Newcastle United v Manchester City

12.30pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle lost 2-0 away to Villa last week, but they’re still five points above the bottom three. They haven’t lost in their last five home games, but only Watford have scored less goals at home and only Leicester have conceded less. They have taken 10 points from their last six games, but only Watford have scored less goals.

I can’t really see any Newcastle players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

City came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Chelsea last week, but they’re still in third place and nine points behind Liverpool. They have lost two of their six away games with only Chelsea and Leicester scoring more goals on the road. They have scored more goals than any other team, but it’s defensive issues which have them so far behind Liverpool already.

With Sergio Aguero injured Gabriel Jesus could be a good option for fantasy managers while Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling are all very good choices too.

I think City will be too strong for Newcastle and should win by at least a couple of goals.

Prediction: 0-2

Burnley v Crystal Palace

3pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley won 3-0 away to Watford last week and that win was enough to move them up to seventh place. They have won four of their six home games and they kept a clean sheet in each of those wins too. They have scored six goals and conceded none in winning their last two games, but they have a couple of tough games coming up very soon.

Ashley Barnes, Chris Wood and Dwight McNeil are all worth considering for fantasy managers while James Tarkowski has done really well in the last two games.

Palace ran Liverpool very close last week, but they ended up losing 2-1 at home to stay five points above the relegation zone. They haven’t been quite as impressive away from home this season as they were last season as they are struggling to score goals. They have only taken one point in their last five games and they failed to score in three of them with only Watford scoring less goals.

There aren’t really any Palace players of interest to fantasy managers at the moment, but they don’t play any of the big six in their next eight games.

I think this will be a very close game with the spoils most likely to be shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Chelsea v West Ham United

3pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea led away to City last week, but they were beaten 2-1 and dropped back to fourth place. They have won their last three home games without conceding a goal with only Leicester and Newcastle conceding less goals at home. They had won six games in a row before losing to City last week and they have a good run of games over the next few weeks.

Tammy Abraham is the Chelsea player to have for fantasy managers with Christian Pulisic, Willian and N’Golo Kante looking quite good too.

West Ham lost 3-2 at home to Spurs last week and they’re now only one place above the bottom three. They haven’t won in their last four away games and they failed to score in three of those games. They haven’t won in seven games since beating United and only the three teams below them have conceded more goals.

I can’t see any West players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Chelsea win in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Liverpool v Brighton And Hove Albion

3pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool won 2-1 away to Palace last week to maintain their eight point lead at the top of the table. They’re the only team with a 100% record at home with only City scoring more goals at home. They’re the only unbeaten team and only Leicester have conceded less goals while only City and Leicester have scored more.

Sadio Mane and Andy Robertson are the City players to have at the moment with Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold both very good options too.

Brighton lost 2-0 at home to high flying Leicester last week, but they’re still five points above the bottom three. Only Villa have taken less points away from home with only Norwich and Watford scoring less goals on their travels. They lost their last two games and they have two more tough games in a row starting with this one.

Matt Ryan and Lewis Dunk are the Brighton players most likely to make an impression for fantasy managers.

I can’t see anything other than a comprehensive Liverpool win in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Bournemouth

3pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs won 3-2 away to West Ham last week to move into the top half of the table. They have drawn their last two home games, but only Leicester and Newcastle have conceded less goals at home. The win against West Ham was their first win in six games and only the top four have scored more goals.

Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son are the Spurs players to have for fantasy managers while Serge Aurier and Dele Alli might be worth a shout too.

Bournemouth lost 2-1 at home to Wolves last week and that was enough to drop them into the bottom half of the table. They have only lost three of their six away games with only four other teams conceding less goals on the road. They have only won once in their last seven games and they failed to score in three of those games as well as keeping clean sheets in three of them.

Bournemouth players haven’t done too well for fantasy managers in recent weeks and they have a tough run of games coming up.

I think Spurs should be good enough to take the three points with at least a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-1

Southampton v Watford

5.30pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton were very unlucky to only draw 2-2 away to Arsenal last week and that point left them one point off the foot of the table. No other team has taken less points or conceded more goals at home with only Watford scoring less goals on their own patch. They haven’t won in eight games and no other team has conceded more goals.

Despite Southampton’s poor form Danny Ings has scored in five of their last seven games and he’s certainly worth considering for fantasy managers.

Watford lost 3-0 at home to Burnley last week to drop back to the bottom of the table, but they’re only one point behind Southampton. Their only win so far was in their last away game, but only Norwich have scored less goals away from home. They have only lost twice in their last six games, but they have failed to score in seven of their 13 games and no other team has scored less goals.

At a push Gerard Deulofeu might be worth a shot for fantasy managers, but it’s probably best to avoid Watford players.

This is a real six pointer between the bottom two clubs in the league and I think Southampton might just have the edge.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunday December 1

Norwich City v Arsenal

2pm GMT, Carrow Road, Norwich

Norwich won 2-0 away to Everton last week to move off the foot of the table. They have lost their last three home games and they conceded 10 goals in those games with only Southampton conceding more goals at home. They had only taken one point in seven games before beating Everton last week and they failed to score in five of those games with only Southampton conceding more goals.

Both Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell finally came good for fantasy managers last week and they might just do so again against a dodgy Arsenal defence.

Arsenal got a very late goal to draw 2-2 at home to Southampton last week, but they dropped to eighth place as a result. They haven’t won in their last five away games with only Norwich and Watford scoring less goals on their travels. They haven’t won in five games and they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 12 games.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still the only Arsenal player for fantasy managers to consider.

Despite their recent poor results I think Arsenal will still have enough to narrowly win this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Sheffield United

2pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves won 2-1 away to Bournemouth last week and that win saw them go up to fifth place. They have only won two of their six home games, but they have drawn three of them. They’re unbeaten in eight games and they haven’t failed to score since their opening day blank against Leicester.

Raul Jiminez is in great form for fantasy managers at the moment while Adama Traore isn’t doing too badly either.

Sheffield United led 2-0 at home to United last week, but they needed a last minute goal to rescue a point and they’re one point behind Wolves going into this game. They’re one of two teams still unbeaten away from home, but they have drawn five of their six games on the road. They’re unbeaten in six games with only Leicester and Liverpool conceding less goals, but only Wolves have drawn more games.

John Lundstram remains the best option in the United team for fantasy managers while the rest of the defence and Lys Mousset don’t look too bad either.

I think this will be a very close game and a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Everton

4.30pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester won 2-0 away to Brighton last week to stay in second place, but they’re still eight points behind Liverpool. Only Liverpool have taken more points at home and no other team has conceded less goals on their own ground. They have won their last five games and they haven’t conceded a goal in their last four.

Jamie Vardy is the outstanding player in the Leicester team for fantasy managers with all of their defence and keeper as well as James Maddison and Youri Tielemans worth considering too.

Everton lost 2-0 at home to Norwich last week and they’re only four points and two places above the relegation zone. Only Villa have taken less points away from home with only Norwich and Watford scoring less away goals. They have lost six of their last nine games and only four other teams have conceded more goals.

I can’t see any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Leicester should be too strong for Everton and should win by a few goals at least.

Prediction: 3-0

Manchester United v Aston Villa

4.30pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United came from 2-0 down to lead 3-2 at Sheffield United last week, but they had to settle for a point and they’re only ninth in the league. They have only lost one of their six home games with only Leicester and Newcastle conceding less goals at home. They have only won twice in their last eight games and they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 12.

Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Daniel James are all doing quite well for fantasy managers at the moment.

Villa won 2-0 at home to Newcastle last week to move four points above the bottom three. No other team has taken less points away from home and they have a couple of hard away games in quick succession. Their win against Newcastle ended a run of three defeats and they’re the highest scorers in the bottom half of the table.

John McGinn, Jack Grealish and Anwar El Ghazi are the Villa players to watch for fantasy managers.

I think Villa will make a game of it, but United will take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
