Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 34

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did reasonably well last week thanks to getting one prediction spot on with two correct outcomes and three incorrect outcomes which brought me up to seventh in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Friday April 12

Leicester City v Newcastle United

8pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester won 4-1 away to Huddersfield last week to move up to seventh in the table. They have won their last three home games, but they have lost as many games as they have won at home. They have won their last four games and they scored 11 goals in those games to give themselves every chance of finishing seventh and possibly qualifying for the Europa League.

Jamie Vardy, Youri Tielemans and James Maddison are all in very good form for fantasy managers with Ricardo Pereira doing pretty well too.

Newcastle lost 1-0 at home to Palace last week, but they’re still seven points clear of the relegation zone and probably only need one more win to guarantee their safety. They haven’t won in their last eight away games with only Fulham and Huddersfield winning less games on the road and only three teams scoring less away goals. They have only won once in their last five games and only the bottom three teams have scored less goals.

At a push Solomon Rondon might be of interest to fantasy managers, but it’s always a risk to bring in Newcastle players.

I think Leicester’s revival will continue with a narrow victory in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Saturday April 13

Tottenham Hotspur v Huddersfield Town

12.30pm BST, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs won 2-0 at home to Palace in their last game to keep their place in the top four. They have taken 13 points from their last five home games, but they have lost four home games already. Their win against Palace was their first win in six games and they’re doing very well to be in the top four considering they have already lost 10 games.

With Harry Kane injured both Son Heung-Min and Christian Eriksen could be the Spurs players to interest fantasy managers.

Huddersfield lost 4-1 at home to Leicester last week and with relegation confirmed it’s just a matter of whether they can manage to catch Fulham to move off the bottom of the table. They have lost their last five away games and they conceded 14 goals in the process with only Cardiff scoring less goals away from home. They have only taken four points from their last 20 games and no other team has scored less goals with only Fulham conceding more.

I can’t see any Huddersfield players to recommend to fantasy managers.

I think Spurs should win this game with a few goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-0

Brighton And Hove Albion v Bournemouth

3pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton lost their last game 3-0 away to Chelsea and they’re still only five points above the bottom three. They have only won once in their last five home games, but it’s the points they have taken at home which are keeping them out of the bottom three. They have lost seven of their last 11 games, but they have more games left to play than any other team.

With two home games this week both Shane Duffy and Glenn Murray could be of real interest to fantasy managers.

Bournemouth lost 3-1 at home to Burnley last week and it looks like the end of the season can’t come quickly enough for them. They have lost 10 of their last 11 away games with only Fulham conceding more goals away from home. They have only won once in their last nine games with only the bottom two teams conceding more goals, but they are the leading scorers in the bottom half of the table.

It’s not easy to recommend Bournemouth players to fantasy managers at the moment and particularly when they’re away from home.

I think Brighton should just about get the three points in this game and secure their Premier League status for another season.

Prediction: 2-1

Burnley v Cardiff City

3pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley won 3-1 away to Burnley last week and those three points will go a long way towards keeping them in the Premier League. They have lost two of their last three home games with only Cardiff and Fulham conceding more home goals. They have won their last two games to move eight points clear of Cardiff and a win in this game should be enough to keep them up.

Both Ashley Barnes and Chris Woods are in good form at the moment for fantasy managers with Ashley Westwood and Dwight McNeil doing quite well too.

Cardiff lost 2-0 away to City in their last game and they’re five points from safety with only six games left to play. They have lost four of their last five away games with no other team scoring less goals away from home. They have lost five of their last six games and they will need to win at least four of their last six to have a chance of avoiding the drop.

Victor Camarasa is the only Cardiff player for fantasy managers to consider and that’s because they play twice this week.

I think Burnley will get the three points they need to keep their Premier League place for another season.

Prediction: 3-1

Fulham v Everton

3pm BST, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham lost 4-1 away to Watford in their last game and just like Huddersfield they have been relegated. They have lost their last four home games with only Huddersfield taking less points and Cardiff conceding more goals on their own patch. They have lost their last nine games and they conceded 23 goals in those games and no other team has conceded more goals.

I can’t see any Fulham players to recommend to fantasy managers.

Everton won 1-0 at home to Arsenal last week to move up to ninth place and they’re only a point off seventh. They have won three of their last five away games and they kept clean sheets in those three wins too. They have won their last three games and they kept clean sheets in four of their last five games.

Everton defenders have done very well for fantasy managers in recent weeks with Gylfi Sigurdsson doing quite well too.

I think Everton have looked good enough in recent weeks to win this game with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 0-2

Southampton v Wolverhampton Wanderers

3pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton lost 3-1 at home to Liverpool last week and they’re still only five points above the bottom three. They have taken 10 points from their last six home games and their remaining home fixtures should see them take enough points to stay up. They have won three of their last five games and they have played well enough to suggest they will avoid relegation.

James Ward-Prowse is the Southampton player most likely to do well for fantasy managers at the moment.

Wolves won 2-1 at home to United in their last game and they’re in a real battle with three other teams for seventh place. They have taken 13 points from their last five home games and they scored 12 goals in those games. They have only lost twice in their last 10 games and only four other teams have conceded less goals.

Raul Jiminez and Diogo Jota are the Wolves players to have for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be a very close game with Southampton probably just about managing a narrow victory.

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester United v West Ham United

5.30pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United lost 2-1 away to Wolves in their last game to drop back to sixth in the league. They have taken 20 points from their last eight home games and they play four of their last six games at home. They have lost two of their last three games after going unbeaten in their previous 12, but they have conceded more goals than the rest of the top six.

None of the United players have done too well in recent weeks for fantasy managers, but Marcus Rashford must still be a very good option at least.

West Ham lost 2-0 away to Chelsea last week and it looks quite likely that they will finish in the bottom half of the table. They have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last seven away games. They have lost three of their last four games and they failed to score in each of those defeats.

I can’t see any West Ham players to interest fantasy managers at the moment or for the rest of the season either.

I think United should run out fairly comfortable winners in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Sunday April 14

Crystal Palace v Manchester City

2.05pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace won 1-0 away to Newcastle last week and that win should be enough to keep them in the Premier League for another season. They have only won two of their last eight home games with only the two relegated teams taking less points at home and only Huddersfield scoring less goals. They have only lost three of their last 10 games, but two of those defeats were at home.

Luka Milivojevic continues to impress for fantasy managers with Wilfried Zaha a good option too while the Palace defenders have done well recently, but this could be a tough game for them.

City won 2-0 at home to Cardiff in their last game, but they’re still two points behind Liverpool with a game in hand. Only Liverpool and Spurs have taken more points away from home and they have won their last three away games without conceding a goal. They have won their last eight games and they kept clean sheets in six of those games with no other team scoring more goals and only Liverpool conceding less.

Once he plays Sergio Aguero is still the best City player for fantasy managers while Raheem Sterling, Bernardo Silva and Aymeric Laporte have all done very well recently too.

I think Palace will give City a run for their money, but City will just about take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Chelsea

4.30pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool came from behind to win 3-1 away to Southampton last week and maintain their two point lead at the top of the table. They’re the only team still unbeaten at home with only City scoring more home goals and no other team conceding less. They have won their last four games after only winning two of the previous six, but they didn’t keep a clean sheet in any of those four wins.

Roberto Firmino has been the Liverpool player to have for fantasy managers in recent weeks while Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are still really good options too.

Chelsea won 2-0 at home to West Ham last week and that win was enough to move them up to third in the table. They have lost four of their last six away games and they conceded 16 goals in those games. They have won their last three games to get back into the top four, but they have some tough games to come before the end of the season.

Eden Hazard is the Chelsea player to have for fantasy managers, but it’s hard to see any Chelsea players excelling in this game.

I think Liverpool should win this game with a few goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-0

Monday April 15

Watford v Arsenal

8pm BST, Vicarage Road, London

Watford won 4-1 at home to Fulham in their last game, but other results saw them drop to tenth place as they were beating Wolves in their FA Cup semi final. They have won their last three home games and four of their last six games are at home too. Their results have been fairly inconsistent recently and it could be difficult for their players to concentrate on the league having just booked their place in the FA Cup Final.

Troy Deeney is the form Watford player for fantasy managers while it’s hard to resist Gerard Deulofeu if he’s fit to play.

Arsenal lost 1-0 away to Everton last week and they dropped out of the top four as a result. They have only won once in their last nine away games and they’re the only team without a clean sheet away from home. They have won seven of their last 10 games and only the top two teams have scored more goals.

If he’s fit to play Aaron Ramsey is possibly the Arsenal player to have for fantasy managers while Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang are worth considering too.

I think this will be a very close game with Arsenal just about managing to get the three points they so badly need.

Prediction: 1-2

Tuesday April 16

Brighton And Hove Albion v Cardiff City

7.45pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton play their second home game of the week knowing that a win in this game in particular will surely mean their relegation fears are over. They haven’t been quite as impressive at home this season as they were last season, but three remaining home games against teams in the bottom half of the table gives them every opportunity to get the points they need to stay up.

As I said previously both Glenn Murray and Shane Duffy could be good choices for fantasy managers this week.

Cardiff play their second away game of the week and both of those games are against teams they still have a chance of catching. They really need to take something from both of those games as they still have to play at home to Liverpool and away to United before the end of the season.

As I said already Victor Camarasa is a strong possibility for fantasy managers this week if they’re brave enough to pick a Cardiff player.

I think Brighton will take the three points they require to more or less secure their Premier League status for another season, but Cardiff will make a game of it.

Prediction: 2-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
