Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 30

It's that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did quite well last week with two perfect predictions, four correct outcomes and four incorrect outcomes. It means I gained a little ground in my predictions league, but I still have a bit to go to catch the top five and here’s a look at how that top five stands.

Saturday March 9

Crystal Palace v Brighton And Hove Albion

12.30pm GMT, Selhurst Park, London

Palace won 3-1 away to Burnley last week and they’re now eight points clear of the relegation zone. Only Huddersfield have taken less points and scored less goals at home, but they will still be favourites to win this game. They have taken 11 points from their last six games and scored 15 goals in their last seven.

As I said last week Wilfried Zaha could be the Palace player to have for fantasy managers with Luka Milivojevic and Jeffrey Schlupp worth considering too.

Brighton won 1-0 at home to Huddersfield last week to give themselves five points to spare over the bottom three. They have only taken one point from their last six away games and they have lost 10 of their 14 on the road. The win last week was their first win in eight games and they need to get as many points as possible with four of their last 10 games against teams from the top six.

I can’t see any Brighton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment even if Shane Duffy has done well on occasions.

I think Palace might get a rare home win in this game, but there won’t be too much in it.

Prediction: 2-1

Cardiff City v West Ham United

3pm GMT, Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff

Cardiff lost 2-0 away to Wolves last week and that result left them in the bottom three. They have lost four of their last six home games and they conceded 16 goals in those games with no other team conceding more goals at home. They have lost their last three games and they conceded 10 goals in the process with relegation looking more and more likely with each passing game.

I can’t see any Cardiff players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

West Ham won 2-0 at home to Newcastle last week to move up to ninth in the table. They have only taken one point in their last five away games and they only scored one goal in those games too. Their only loss in their last five games was away to City, but no other team in the top half of the table has conceded more goals.

Declan Rice hasn’t done too badly for fantasy managers recently and he’s available at a good price too.

I think West Ham should have enough to just about take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Huddersfield Town v Bournemouth

3pm GMT, John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield

Huddersfield lost 1-0 away to Brighton last week to stay rooted to the foot of the table and they’re now 13 points from safety with nine games to play. They won their last home game against Wolves after losing the previous seven and no other team has taken less points or scored less goals at home. That win against Wolves was their first win in 15 games and they failed to score in seven of their last 10 games with no other team scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Huddersfield players to recommend to fantasy managers for the rest of the season.

Bournemouth lost 1-0 at home to City last week and they’re starting to look over their shoulders just a little. They have lost their last nine away games and conceded 28 goals in the process with only Fulham conceding more away goals and only four teams scoring less on the road. They have only taken one point in their last five games and they conceded 12 goals in those games with only Fulham and Cardiff conceding more goals.

With David Brooks back from injury he could be the Bournemouth player to interest fantasy managers while Josh King is worth considering too at least until Callum Wilson is back.

I think Bournemouth will put an end to their awful away run by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 0-2

Leicester City v Fulham

3pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester lost 2-1 away to Watford last week and they’re still in the bottom half of the table. Only Huddersfield and Newcastle have lost more home games than Leicester, but they did win their last home game after losing the previous four. They have lost six of their last eight games and they didn’t get the expected “new manager” bounce last week.

Jamie Vardy got life under Brendan Rodgers off to a good start for him last week and he might not be the worst choice for fantasy managers.

Fulham lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea last week and they’re now 10 points from safety with only nine games to play. They’re the only team without an away win and no other team has conceded more goals on their travels with only Huddersfield scoring less. They have lost their last five games and they failed to score in three of them with no other team conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Fulham players to recommend to fantasy managers.

I think Leicester will have too much for a Fulham team who seem doomed to relegation.

Prediction: 3-1

Newcastle United v Everton

3pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle lost 2-0 away to West Ham last week and that defeat left them six points above the bottom three. Only Huddersfield have lost more games at home, but they have won the last four on their own patch and they kept clean sheets in three of those games. They have won four of their last seven games, but they were all at home and only two other teams have scored less goals.

Solomon Rondon, Fabian Schar and Isaac Hayden have all done well recently for fantasy managers and they’re all available at a good price too.

Everton drew 0-0 at home to Liverpool last week and they’re still just about in the top half of the table. They have lost half of their 14 away games, but they have won two of their last three on the road. They have kept clean sheets in their last two games, but they have lost six of their last 10.

Despite getting a draw with Liverpool last week I’m still not sure there are any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Newcastle will continue their impressive recent home form by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Southampton v Tottenham Hotspur

3pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton lost 3-2 away to United last week, but they’re still two points above the relegation zone thanks to all the teams below them losing too. Only Huddersfield have won less games at home, but they have taken seven points from their last four home games. They have only won once in their last six games and that was against Fulham.

James Ward-Prowse has been the Southampton player to have for fantasy managers recently while Nathan Redmond hasn’t done too badly either.

Spurs drew 1-1 at home to Arsenal last week to stay third, but United are now only three points behind them. They have taken more points and scored more goals away from home than any other team, but they did lose their last two on the road. They have only taken one point from their last three games and they have a real fight for a top four place on their hands with trips to both Liverpool and City still to come.

Harry Kane is the form Spurs player for fantasy managers while Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen have struggled in recent weeks.

I think Southampton will make a game of it, but Spurs will get a much needed win in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Manchester City v Watford

5.30pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City won 1-0 away to Bournemouth last week to move one point above Liverpool at the top of the table. They have won their last five home games with no other team taking more points or scoring more goals at home. They have won nine of their last 10 games and they kept clean sheets in each of their last four with no other team scoring more goals and only Liverpool conceding less.

As long as they play Sergio Aguero and Raheem Sterling are the City players to have for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper have done very well recently too.

Watford won 2-1 at home to Leicester to stay eighth and they’re only behind seventh placed Wolves on goal difference. Only five other teams have taken more points away from home and they have only lost twice in their last eight away games. They have only lost twice in their last 10 games and no other team in the top half of the table has conceded more goals.

Troy Deeney and Gerard Deulofeu have been very impressive in recent weeks for fantasy managers, but maybe not in this game.

I think City should run out comfortable winners in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Sunday March 10

Liverpool v Burnley

12pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool drew 1-1 away to Everton last week and that result was enough to see them surrender top spot to City, but only by a point. They’re the only team still unbeaten at home with only City scoring more home goals and no other team conceding less. They have drawn four of their last six games and they haven’t conceded a goal in four games, but they have failed to score in two of the last three.

With Mohamed Salah struggling at the moment fantasy managers could do worse than opt for Sadio Mane while all the Liverpool defenders and keeper are excellent options too.

Burnley lost 3-1 at home to Palace last week and they’re still only five points above the bottom three. They have only lost once in their last five away games, but only four other teams have conceded more goals away from home. They lost their last two games after going unbeaten in the previous eight, but they haven’t kept a clean sheet in six games.

Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood have been impressive for fantasy managers recently, but they could struggle in this game.

I think Liverpool should win this game with a few goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-0

Chelsea v Wolverhampton Wanderers

2.05pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea won 2-1 away to Fulham last week to move within two points of fourth place with a game in hand. They have only lost one of their 14 home games with only Liverpool conceding less goals at home. They have won three and lost three of their last six games with only the top two conceding less goals.

Both Eden Hazard and Gonzalo Higuain are worth considering for fantasy managers with Caesar Azpilicueta a possibility too.

Wolves won 2-0 at home to Cardiff to stay above Watford in seventh place on goal difference. They have won as many games as they have lost away from home with only the top two conceding less goals away from home. They have only lost once in their last seven games, but no other team in the top half of the table has scored less goals.

Raul Jiminez is the Wolves player to have for fantasy managers while Matt Doherty and Diogo Jota aren’t bad options either.

I think Chelsea’s home form should be enough to see them take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

Arsenal v Manchester United

4.30pm GMT, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal drew 1-1 away to Spurs last week to drop back to fifth place, but they’re one of four teams fighting for two top four places. Only City have taken more points at home and they have won their last eight games on their own patch. They have taken 16 points from their last seven games with only the top two scoring more goals.

Alexandre Lacazette could be the Arsenal player for fantasy managers to have in this game with his record against the bigger teams and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang more than likely rested for Europa League action.

United won 3-2 at home to Southampton last week to move above Arsenal into fourth place. Only two other teams have taken more points away from home with only Spurs scoring more away goals and they have won their last six on the road. They have taken 32 points and scored 29 goals in their last 12 games with only three other teams scoring more goals.

Paul Pogba is still the United player to have for fantasy managers despite his penalty miss last week while Romelu Lukaku looks like he could be back to his best too.

I think this will be a very close game with Arsenal just about getting the better of proceedings.

Prediction: 2-1

That's it for this week.

See you next week.
