Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 25

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too well last week with one perfect prediction, four correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes, but it was a tough week for everybody with four of the top six failing to win. Here’s a look at how the top five in my predictions league stands with me still nowhere to be seen.

Saturday February 2

Tottenham Hotspur v Newcastle United

12.30pm GMT, Wembley Stadium, London

Spurs came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Watford on Wednesday night to strengthen their grip on third place. They have lost four of their 11 home games, but only three other teams have conceded less goals at home. They’re only two points behind second placed City and they have won 11 of their last 14 games while they’re the only team who haven’t drawn a game so far.

Heung-Min Son and Christian Eriksen are the Spurs players to have at the moment for fantasy managers.

Newcastle came from behind to win 2-1 at home to City on Tuesday night and they’re now five points clear of the bottom three. They have only lost four of their 11 away games and only three teams have scored less goals on the road, but only four teams have conceded less. They have won their last two games after only winning once in the previous nine with only Huddersfield and Cardiff scoring less goals.

Solomon Rondon and Matt Richie are doing reasonably well for fantasy managers at the moment, but it’s always a risk to pick Newcastle players.

I think Spurs will have too much for Newcastle and should win by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 2-0

Brighton And Hove Albion v Watford

3pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton led 2-0 at Fulham on Tuesday night, but they ended up losing 4-2 and they’re still seven points above the relegation zone. They have only lost three of their 11 home games, but they have only won once in the last four on their own patch. They have lost their last three games and while the defeats to Liverpool and United were expected the manner of the defeat against Fulham wasn’t great.

Glenn Murray has been the best of the Brighton players for fantasy managers and particularly at home, but maybe it’s not a great idea to opt for Brighton players.

Watford led for much of the game at Spurs on Wednesday night, but they ended up losing 2-1 which saw them drop to ninth place. They have only lost once in their last five away games with only six other teams taking more points on the road. The defeat at Spurs was only their second defeat in nine games and they have proved to be quite difficult to beat.

Jose Holebas has been the best of the Watford players recently for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game and the chances are it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Burnley v Southampton

3pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley led 2-0 at United on Tuesday night with less than five minutes to go, but they had to settle for a draw in the end and that point moved them four points clear of the relegation zone. Only three teams have taken less points at home, but they have won three of their last four home games. They’re unbeaten in five games with clean sheets in two of those games, but only Fulham and Cardiff have conceded more goals.

Maybe Tom Heaton could be worth considering for fantasy managers while both Ashley Barnes and Chris Wood have done well in recent weeks.

Southampton came from behind to get a 1-1 draw at home to Palace on Wednesday night and like Burnley they’re four points clear of the bottom three. They have taken seven points from their last three away games after losing the previous four and conceding 13 goals in those four games. They have taken 14 points from their last eight games, but they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 14 games with only four other teams conceding more goals.

James Ward-Prowse has done very well in the last few weeks for fantasy managers, but Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings could be worth considering too.

I think this will be another very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end with the spoils shared too.

Prediction: 1-1

Chelsea v Huddersfield United

3pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea were thrashed 4-0 on Wednesday night away to Bournemouth and that defeat dropped them out of the top four. They have only won once in their last three home games, but only Liverpool have conceded less goals at home. They lost their last two games without scoring and they conceded six goals in those games.

It’s hard to see which Chelsea players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment, but surely some of them will do well at home to Huddersfield.

Huddersfield lost 1-0 at home to 10 man Everton on Tuesday night and it looks like it’s only a matter of time before their relegation is confirmed. They have only won once in their 11 away games with only Cardiff scoring less away goals and they have only taken one point in their last five away games. They have only taken one point from their last 10 games and they failed to score in six of those games with no other team scoring less goals.

I can’t see any Huddersfield to recommend to fantasy managers.

I think Chelsea will put some of their woes behind them by winning this game comfortably.

Prediction: 2-0

Crystal Palace v Fulham

3pm GMT, Selhurst Park, London

Palace led at Southampton on Wednesday night, but they had to settle for a draw and that point moved them four points clear of the relegation zone. Only Huddersfield have taken less points and scored less goals at home and they have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last three home games. They have only won once in their last six games and they will be safe for another season if they can sort out their home form.

Andros Townsend looks like the Palace player most likely to do something for fantasy managers at the moment.

Fulham came back from 2-0 down to win 4-2 at home to Brighton on Tuesday night, but they’re still six points from safety despite that win. No other team has taken less points or conceded more goals away from home and they’re the only team without an away win so far. They have only won twice in their last 11 games and no other team has conceded more goals.

Aleksandar Mitrovic has regained some form in the last couple of weeks and he could be a serious option for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended all square too.

Prediction: 2-2

Everton v Wolverhampton Wanderers

3pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton won 1-0 away to Huddersfield on Tuesday night despite having a man sent off and that win moved them up to eighth place. Only six teams have taken more points at home, but they have only won once in their last five games on their own patch. They have only taken 11 points from their last 11 games and they have lost as many games as they have won.

With two games this week Richarlison and Gylfi Siggurdson could be of interest to fantasy managers.

Wolves won 3-0 at home to West Ham on Tuesday night and those three points moved them up to seventh place. Only four teams have scored less goals away from home, but they have taken seven points from their last four games on the road. They have taken 19 points from their last 10 games, but they have conceded more goals than they have scored.

Raul Jiminez and Matt Doherty are still the Wolves players to have for fantasy managers while Joao Moutinho and Diogo Jota have done well recently too.

This looks like it will be a very close game which could go either way and I wouldn’t be surprised if Wolves took the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Cardiff City v Bournemouth

5.30pm GMT, Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff

Cardiff played quite well away to Arsenal on Tuesday night, but they lost 2-1 and they’re now four points off seventeenth place. They have only taken one point from their last three home games and no other team has conceded more goals at home. They have only taken five points in their last eight games and only Fulham have conceded more goals.

I can’t see any Cardiff players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Bournemouth had a fantastic 4-0 win at home to Chelsea on Wednesday night to move back into the top half of the table. They have lost their last six away games and they conceded 18 goals in the process with only Fulham conceding more goals away from home. Their home form is keeping them well above the relegation zone, but they could do with a few away points to help their cause.

David Brooks seems to be the Bournemouth player to have for fantasy managers at the moment while Josh King could do well too with Callum Wilson out for a few weeks.

I think Bournemouth should have more than enough to win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 1-3

Sunday February 3

Leicester City v Manchester United

2.05pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester came from behind to get a very good point away to Liverpool on Wednesday night, but it wasn’t enough to stop them dropping into the bottom half of the table. They have lost three of their last four home games and they have lost more games than they have won at home with only three other teams scoring less home goals. Their only point in their last three games was that point at Liverpool and they seem to play better against the best teams.

It’s not easy to recommend any Leicester players to fantasy managers at the moment, but Harry Maguire, James Maddison and Jamie Vardy all have the potential to do well.

United got two very late goals on Tuesday night to snatch a point at home to Burnley and other results saw them move to within two points of fourth place. They have won their last three away games and they scored eight goals in those games while only conceding one with only Spurs scoring more goals on the road. They have taken 19 points from their last seven games and they scored 19 goals in those games, but Bournemouth are the only team in the top half of the table to have conceded more goals.

Paul Pogba and Marcus Rashford are still the United pkayers most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Leicester will give United a tough test, but United’s firepower should be enough to see them take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Manchester City v Arsenal

4.30pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City led at Newcastle on Tuesday night, but they ended up losing 2-1 and they’re now five points behind Liverpool at the top of the table. They have taken more points and scored more goals at home than any other team. They have lost four of their last nine games, but they have scored more goals than any other team with only Liverpool conceding less.

With two games this week City players such as Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and David Silva are at a premium for fantasy managers.

Arsenal were far from their best on Tuesday night, but they managed a 2-1 win at home to Cardiff which moved them ahead of Chelsea into fourth place. They haven’t won in their last five away games and they haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home yet with only five other teams conceding more goals on the road. They have only won five of their last 10 games, but only the top two teams have scored more goals.

Pierre-Emireck Aubameyang is still the Arsenal player to have for fantasy managers while Alexandre Lacazette isn’t doing too badly either.

Everything points to a City win in this game, but they have slipped up four times in their last nine games and maybe Arsenal can make it five out of 10.

Prediction: 1-2

Monday February 4

West Ham United v Liverpool

8pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham were easily beaten 3-0 at Wolves on Tuesday night and that defeat dropped them into the bottom half of the table. They have taken 10 points from their last five home games, but they have lost as many games as they have won at home. They have lost three of their last five games and they failed to score in each of those defeats.

I can’t see any West Ham players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment and in this game in particular.

Liverpool looked like extending their lead at the top of the table to seven points when they led at home to Leicester on Wednesday night, but they were pegged back and had to settle for a point. Only Spurs have taken more points and scored more goals away from home and they have won five of their last six away games. They have only taken seven points from their last four games after winning the previous nine, but no other team has conceded less goals with only City scoring more.

Mohamed Salah is still a must have for fantasy managers while Andy Robertson, Virgil van Dijk and Sadio Mane are all worth considering too.

I think Liverpool should be well able to get the better of a West Ham team who have really gone off the boil in recent weeks.

Prediction: 0-2

Wednesday February 6

Everton v Manchester City

7.45pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton play their second game of the week and they don’t come much harder than a game against the reigning champions. As I mentioned already their home form isn’t good at the moment, but it has been pretty good overall this season. Their aim has to be seventh place and the probable Europa League football that goes with it and anything they can get from this game would be very welcome.

I don’t think we’ll see too much from Everton players in this game, but they’re still very tempting to fantasy managers with two games this week.

City need to make up ground on Liverpool at the top of the table and they get the opportunity with their second game of the week. They have lost three of their last five away games, but only Spurs have more away goals and only Liverpool have conceded less on the road. If they’re going to catch Liverpool they have to close the gap on them with this extra game.

With two games this week most fantasy managers will be doing all they can to get at a least a couple of City players on board.

Despite their recent problems I think City will take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
