Bournemouth v Liverpool
12.30pm GMT, Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
Bournemouth held on to win 2-1 at home to Huddersfield on Tuesday night and those three points moved them back up to seventh place. They have taken 14 points from their eight home games with only four teams scoring more goals at home. The win against Huddersfield halted a run of four consecutive defeats, but they will do very well to get anything from this game.
Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser continue to excel for fantasy managers while both Josh King and David Brooks are worth considering too.
Liverpool came from behind to win 3-1 away to Burnley on Wednesday night to keep within touching distance of City at the top of the table. Only Spurs have taken more points away from home with only Arsenal and Spurs scoring more away goals and only City conceding less. They’re one of two unbeaten teams and they have kept nine clean sheets in their 15 games.
Liverpool’s defenders and keeper just keep getting clean sheets for fantasy managers while Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane (if he’s fit to play) are the others to watch.
I think Liverpool will be too strong for Bournemouth and should win with a couple of goals to spare.
Prediction: 1-3
Arsenal v Huddersfield Town
3pm GMT, Emirates Stadium, London
Arsenal led twice at United on Wednesday night, but they had to settle for a 2-2 draw and they dropped back to fifth place. They’re unbeaten in their last seven home games with only City and Chelsea scoring more goals at home. They’re unbeaten in 13 league games with nine wins in those games, but they have only kept two clean sheets so far.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still the Arsenal player to have for fantasy managers and he’s being ably assisted by Alexandre Lacazette.
Huddersfield were a little unlucky to lose 2-1 away to Bournemouth on Tuesday night, but they’re still one point above the relegation zone. They have taken as many points on the road as they have at home and they have scored more goals away from home too. Only Southampton have won less games and no other team has scored less goals.
I think Arsenal should have too much in attack for Huddersfield and should win with at least a couple of goals to spare.
Prediction: 3-1
Burnley v Brighton And Hove Albion
3pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley
Burnley led at home to Liverpool on Wednesday night, but they ended up losing 3-1 and they’re only off the foot of the table on goal difference. They have taken less points at home than any other team and only Fulham have conceded more home goals. They have only taken two points from their last eight games with only Fulham conceding more goals.
I can’t see any Burnley players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.
Brighton won 3-1 at home to Palace on Tuesday night despite being down to 10 men for more than an hour. They have only won two of their eight away games, but that’s as many as they won away from home in all of last season. They have taken 16 points from their last eight games and those points have moved them into the top half of the table.
As I say every week Glenn Murray is a very good choice for fantasy managers, but only when Brighton play at home.
This is a game where Burnley really need three points, but I think they will have to settle for a share of the spoils.
Prediction: 1-1
Cardiff City v Southampton
3pm GMT, Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff
Cardiff lost 3-1 at West Ham on Tuesday night, but they’re still two points above the bottom three. They have won their last three home games, but only Fulham have conceded more goals at home. Only the bottom two clubs have conceded more goals and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in their last 12 games.
I still can’t see any Cardiff players to recommend to fantasy managers.
Southampton lost 3-1 away to Spurs on Wednesday night and they’re still in the bottom three. Only Fulham have lost more games and conceded more goals away from home. They have won less games than any other team and they haven’t won in their last 11 games.
Maybe Stuart Armstrong might be worth considering for fantasy managers, but it could depend on how the new manager views him.
This is a big game for two teams at the wrong end of the table and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.
Prediction: 2-2
Manchester United v Fulham
3pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester
United came from behind twice to draw 2-2 at home to Arsenal on Wednesday night, but they’re now 18 points behind the leaders after only 15 games. They have only won three of their seven home games and they have conceded as many goals as they have scored at home. They haven’t won in four games and they have only kept one clean sheet in their 15 games.
Anthony Martial continues to be the United player to have for fantasy managers.
Fulham drew 1-1 at home to Leicester on Wednesday night and they’re still propping up the rest of the table. No other team has taken less points or conceded more goals away from home. No other team has lost more games or conceded more goals, but they have taken four points from three games since Claudio Ranieri took the reins.
If he’s fit to play Andre Schurrle can do well for fantasy managers while Aleksandar Mitrovic is still the best option in their team.
I think United will get a much needed win in this game with a couple of goals to spare.
Prediction: 3-1
West Ham United v Crystal Palace
3pm GMT, London Stadium, London
West Ham won 3-1 at home to Cardiff on Tuesday night and they’re now only three points off the top half of the table. They have lost half of their eight home games, but they have won three of their last five at home with defeats against Spurs and City in that run. They have only lost once in their last six games and they’re the highest scorers in the bottom half of the league.
If Marco Arnautovic isn’t fit to play it leaves Felipe Anderson as the best choice in the West Ham team for fantasy managers.
Palace lost 3-1 away to Brighton on Wednesday night and they’re only three points above the relegation zone. They have taken more points and scored more goals away from home than they have at home. They have only won once in their last 10 games and only Huddersfield have scored less goals.
The Palace defenders and keeper are all reasonably good options for fantasy managers and they don’t cost too much either.
I don’t think there will be too much in this game, but West Ham will probably win by the odd goal.
Prediction: 2-1
Chelsea v Manchester City
5.30pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea led away to Wolves on Wednesday night, but they ended up losing 2-1 and they’re now 10 points behind City. They’re one of three teams still unbeaten at home and only City have scored more goals at home. They have only won once in their last four games though, but only City and Arsenal have scored more goals.
Eden Hazard is still the best choice in the Chelsea team for fantasy managers with their defenders and keeper worth considering too, but maybe not in this game.
City won 2-1 away to Watford on Tuesday night to keep their two point lead over Liverpool at the top of the table. They’re one of two teams still unbeaten away from home with no other team conceding less goals on the road and only Arsenal and Spurs scoring more. They’re still unbeaten and the top scorers with only Liverpool conceding less goal so far.
It’s difficult to know which City players will play from week to week, but almost any of them are good choices for fantasy managers with Raheem Sterling, Leroy Sane and Sergio Aguero (if he’s fit) probably the best of them.
Chelsea need to win this game to keep their slim hopes of keeping pace with City alive, but I think they will lose a close game.
Prediction: 1-2
Leicester City v Tottenham Hotspur
7.45pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester
Leicester got a point in a 1-1 draw at Fulham on Wednesday night and they’re only one point off the top six. They have only won three of their seven home games, but only Liverpool and City have conceded less goals at home. They are unbeaten in six games, but they drew four of those games and they kept clean sheets in three of them.
James Maddison has returned after his red card with renewed enthusiasm and he again looks like a very good choice for fantasy managers.
Spurs won 3-1 at home to Southampton on Wednesday night to overtake Arsenal and Chelsea and go up to third in the table. They have taken more points away from home than any other team with only Arsenal scoring more away goals, but they have played more away games than any other team. They have won eight of their last 10 games and they kept four clean sheets in those games.
Harry Kane rarely lets fantasy managers down while Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son are both looking good at the moment too.
I don’t think there will be too much between the teams in this game and a draw is probably the most likely outcome.
Prediction: 1-1
Sunday December 9
Newcastle United v Wolverhampton Wanderers
4pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle
Newcastle led at Everton on Wednesday night, but they were happy to emerge with a 1-1 draw and move four points clear of the bottom three. They have lost more home games than any other team with only Huddersfield and Palace scoring less goals at home. They have only lost once in their last six games with only two other teams scoring less goals.
Solomon Rondon has scored a few goals recently for fantasy managers, but I still think it’s a risk to pick a Newcastle player.
Wolves came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Chelsea on Wednesday night and it put an end to a bad run for them. Only Cardiff have scored less goals away from home, but only City and Liverpool have conceded less. Their win against Chelsea was their first win in seven games and they failed to score in three of those games.
Both Raul Jiminez and Matt Doherty continue to rack up the points for fantasy managers even when Wolves are struggling.
This looks like it could be a low scoring game and I have a feeling it might just go the way of Wolves.
Prediction: 0-1
Monday December 10
Everton v Watford
8pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool
Everton came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to Newcastle on Wednesday night, but they really should have taken three points. Only three teams have taken more points at home and only four teams have scored more goals. They have only lost two of their last nine games and they kept clean sheets in four of those games.
Both Gylfi Sigurdsson and Richarlison have done well for fantasy managers and it could be worth considering an Everton defender at the moment too.
Watford lost 2-1 at home to City on Tuesday night to drop into the bottom half of the table. They have only won two of their seven away games, but only five teams have conceded less goals away from home. They haven’t won in five games and they only scored two goals in those games.
Watford players haven’t returned too much for fantasy managers in recent weeks and maybe it might be a good idea to avoid them.
I think Everton will get their home form back on track by taking the three points in this game.
Prediction: 2-0
That’s it for today.
See you tomorrow.
