Brighton And Hove Albion v Everton
3pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton
Brighton came from behind to get a 1-1 draw at home to Arsenal on Wednesday and they’re now 10 points above the bottom three. They have only lost two of their nine home games, but they have only won once in their last four at home. They haven’t won in four games and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in nine games.
Solomon March is the Brighton player most likely to be of interest to fantasy managers at the moment.
Everton put their nightmare display against Spurs behind them by winning 5-1 away to Burnley on Wednesday and that win moved them back up to eighth place. Their win at Burnley was only their second away win and they have only kept one clean sheet away from home. That win was their first one in six games and they conceded 12 goals in their last four games.
Gylfi Sigurdsson And Richarlison are still the best fantasy options in the Everton team with Lucas Digne not far behind them.
I think a combination of Brighton’s home form and Everton’s away form should see this game ending with the spoils shared.
Prediction: 1-1
Fulham v Huddersfield Town
3pm GMT, Craven Cottage, London
Fulham drew 1-1 at home to Wolves on Wednesday and that point moved them off the foot of the table. Only two teams have won less games at home and only Burnley and Cardiff have conceded more goals at home. They haven’t won in six games and no other team has conceded more goals with only Huddersfield and Newcastle scoring less.
I still can’t see any Fulham players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.
Huddersfield lost 3-1 away to United on Wednesday and that defeat saw them drop to the bottom of the table. They have taken taken as many points and scored more goals away from home as they have at home, but that isn’t very much. They have lost their last six games and they have scored less goals than any other team.
I can’t see any Huddersfield players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
This is a big game for two teams at the wrong end of the table and I think Fulham might just edge it.
Prediction: 2-1
Leicester City v Cardiff City
3pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester
Leicester came from behind to win 2-1 at home to City on Wednesday and that win moved them up to seventh place. They have taken as many points at home as they have taken away from home, but only three teams have conceded less goals at home. They have only lost twice in their last 10 games, but they only scored nine goals in those games.
Jamie Vardy is probably the Leicester player most likely to do well for fantasy managers while Harry Maguire might be worth considering too now that he’s fit again.
Cardiff managed to grind out a 0-0 draw away to Palace on Wednesday to move three points clear of the relegation zone. No other team has taken less points or scored less goals away from home. Their home form is keeping them out of the bottom three and only two teams have conceded more goals.
I can’t see any Cardiff players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
I think Leicester should be able to build on a fantastic festive campaign with three points in this game.
Prediction: 2-0
Tottenham Hotspur v Wolverhampton Wanderers
3pm GMT, Wembley Stadium, London
Spurs won 5-0 at home to Bournemouth on Wednesday and that win moved them above City into second place. They have won their last four home games and they scored 12 goals in those games with only Liverpool conceding less goals at home. They have won their last five games and they scored 17 goals in those games as well as keeping three clean sheets.
Heung-Min Son is in fantastic form for fantasy managers at the moment while Harry Kane and Christian Eriksen are well worth considering too.
Wolves drew 1-1 away to Fulham on Wednesday and that point just about kept them in the top half of the table. They have only lost once in their last five away games and only three teams have conceded less goals away from home. They have taken 10 points from their last five games and they’re the lowest scorers in the top half of the league.
Matt Doherty is the Wolves player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers while Raul Jiminez hasn’t done too badly either.
I think Spurs should continue their winning ways with at least a couple of goals to spare.
Prediction: 3-1
Watford v Newcastle United
3pm GMT, Vicarage Road, Watford
Watford lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea on Wednesday to drop back to ninth place. They have lost three of their last four home games and they conceded nine goals in those games with only three teams conceding more goals at home. They have won as many games as they have lost and they have only won twice in their last nine games.
Roberto Pereyra and Jose Holebas are both worth considering for fantasy managers.
Newcastle lost 4-0 away to Liverpool on Wednesday, but they still have five points to spare over the bottom three. They have only lost three of their nine away games, but only Cardiff and Fulham have scored less goals away from home. They have only won once in their last six games and they failed to score in three of those games with only Huddersfield scoring less goals.
I can’t see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
I think Watford should put their midweek disappointment behind them and take the three points in this game.
Prediction: 2-0
Liverpool v Arsenal
5.30pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool
Liverpool won 4-0 at home to Newcastle on Wednesday and other results saw them move six points clear at the top of the table. They’re the only team unbeaten at home and they have the best defensive record at home with only City scoring more goals on their own patch. They are the only team still unbeaten and they have by far the best defensive record with only City scoring more goals.
Mohamed Salah is a must have for fantasy managers at the moment despite his price and every fantasy team has to have at least one Liverpool defender or their keeper too.
Arsenal led at Brighton on Wednesday, but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw and they’re now two points off the top four. They have only lost one of their last eight away games and only Spurs have scored more away goals, but they haven’t kept a clean sheet away from home yet. They have only lost once in their last 17 games, but they have drawn five of their last 10 games.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still the Arsenal player to have for fantasy managers.
Somebody has to put a stop to Liverpool’s unbeaten start to the season and I’m plumping for Arsenal however unlikely it might seem.
Prediction: 1-2
Sunday December 30
Crystal Palace v Chelsea
12.00pm GMT, Selhurst Park, London
Palace could only draw 0-0 at home to Cardiff on Wednesday, but that point moved them seven points clear of the relegation zone. Only two teams have won less games at home and only Huddersfield have scored less goals on their own patch, but only Liverpool and Spurs have conceded less. They have taken seven points from their last three games and they have kept four clean sheets in their last seven games.
Palace defenders haven’t done too badly for fantasy managers and they’re available at a good price too.
Chelsea won 2-1 away to Watford on Wednesday and that win moved them two points clear of Arsenal in the race for a top four finish. They have won six of their nine away games with only Liverpool and City conceding less goals away from home. They have lost three of their last seven games with only Liverpool and City conceding less goals.
Eden Hazard has been in very good form recently for fantasy managers and it’s almost impossible to ignore him.
I think this will be a very close game, but Chelsea will probably just about take the three points.
Prediction: 0-1
Burnley v West Ham United
2.15pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley
Burnley lost 5-1 at home to Everton on Wednesday and they’re now three points from safety in the bottom three. Only Huddersfield have taken less points at home and no other team has conceded more goals on their own ground. They have lost six of their last seven games and they conceded 16 goals in those games with only Fulham conceding more goals.
I can’t see any Burnley players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.
West Ham won 2-1 away to Southampton on Thursday and they’re only two points away from the top half of the table. They have won their last three away games and they scored seven goals in those games while conceding only one. They have won five of their last six games and they scored 13 goals in those games.
Felipe Anderson continues to impress for fantasy managers and he’s almost a must have at this stage.
I think Burnley’s woes will continue in this game with West Ham winning narrowly.
Prediction: 1-2
Southampton v Manchester City
2.15pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
Southampton lost 2-1 at home to West Ham on Thursday as their recent reversal in fortunes came to an end and they’re still only three points above the bottom three. They have only won once in their eight home games and only three teams have scored less goals at home. Only the bottom two teams have won less games, but no other team has drawn more games.
Nathan Redmond and Danny Ings still look like pretty good reasonably priced options for fantasy managers.
City lost 2-1 away to Leicester on Wednesday and dropped back to third place with Liverpool now seven points clear of them. They have lost their last two away games, but only Liverpool have conceded less goals away from home. They have lost three of their last four games, but they have scored more goals than any other team even if they have only kept one clean sheet in their last nine games.
If City are going to catch Liverpool then Sergio Aguero, Kevin de Bruyne, David Silva and Raheem Sterling are probably the players to have for fantasy managers.
I think City will bounce back in this game and win by at least a couple of goals.
Prediction: 1-3
Manchester United v Bournemouth
4.30pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester
United won 3-1 at home to Huddersfield on Wednesday and they moved to within six points of fifth placed Arsenal. They have only lost one of their nine home games and they have scored nine goals in their last three games at home. They have won their first two games under their new manager and they scored eight goals in those two games.
Paul Pogba, Jessie Lingard, Marcus Rashford and Anthony Martial (if he’s fit) all seem to be flourishing under the new regime at United and at least one of them would seem to be a must have for fantasy managers.
Bournemouth lost 5-0 away to Spurs on Wednesday and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table. They have lost their last four away games and they conceded 12 goals in those games. They have lost seven of their last nine games and they conceded 21 goals in those games.
Bournemouth players are looking less and less likely to be of value to fantasy managers with each game despite the excellent returns from Callum Wilson and Ryan Fraser so far this season.
I think United will continue their revival with another win, but it might not be quite as easy as the last two.
Prediction: 3-1
That’s it for this week.
See you next week.
