Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 19

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do so well last week with one perfect prediction, four correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which didn’t do much for my chances in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that predictions league looks.

Wednesday December 26

Fulham v Wolverhampton Wanderers

12.30pm Craven Cottage, London

Fulham drew 0-0 away to Newcastle on Saturday, but they’re still propping up the rest of the league even if it is now only on goal difference. Only three teams have taken less points at home and only Cardiff have conceded more goals on their own patch. They haven’t won in five games and they failed to score in three of those games with no other team conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Fulham players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Wolves were a little unlucky to lose 2-0 at home to Liverpool on Friday night, but they’re still just about in the top half of the table. They have won as many away games as they have lost and only three teams have conceded less goals on the road, but only Fulham have scored less. The defeat against Liverpool ended a run of three consecutive wins and they’re the lowest scorers in the top half of the table.

Matt Doherty is the Wolves player to have for fantasy managers with Raul Jiminez worth considering too.

I think this will be a close game, but I think Wolves might just emerge with the three points.

Prediction: 0-2

Burnley v Everton

3pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley lost 3-1 away to Arsenal on Saturday and they’re still in the bottom three. Only Huddersfield have taken less points at home, but they did win their last home game after losing the previous three. They have only taken four points from their last 10 games with only Fulham and Cardiff conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Burnley players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Everton lost 6-2 at home to Spurs on Sunday and that defeat dropped them into the bottom half of the table. They have only won once in their eight away games and only four other teams have taken less points away from home.

Richarlison and Gylfi Siggurdson are the Everton players most likely to make an impact for fantasy managers and they have a fairly good run of games coming up.

I think this will be another close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Crystal Palace v Cardiff City

3pm GMT, Selhurst Park, London

Palace had a fantastic 3-2 win away to City on Saturday to move themselves six points clear of the relegation zone. They have won their last two home games without conceding a goal, but only Huddersfield have scored less goals at home. They have won three of their last five games, but only four teams have scored less goals.

Both Luka Milivojevic and Andros Townsend have been in good form recently and are worth considering for fantasy managers.

Cardiff lost 5-1 at home to United on Saturday and they’re still only two points above the bottom three. They have taken less points and scored less goals away from home than any other team. They have climbed the table in recent weeks, but all of those points were taken at home and only Fulham have conceded more goals.

I can’t see any Cardiff players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Palace should be good enough to take the three points in this game.

Prediction:  2-0

Leicester City v Manchester City

3pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester had a great 1-0 away to Chelsea on Saturday to move back into the top half of the table. They have taken less points at home than they have away from home, but only two teams have conceded less goals at home. They have only won three times in their last 11 games and the goal against Chelsea was their first one in three games.

I’m still not sure there are any Leicester players doing enough consistently to interest fantasy managers, but Jamie Vardy and James Maddison are the most likely to perform.

City lost 3-2 at home to Palace on Saturday and they’re now four points behind Liverpool at the top of the table. They have conceded less goals away from home than any other team, but they haven’t been as efficient as usual in front of goal away from home. They have lost two of their last three games and they have only kept one clean sheet in their last eight games.

If Sergio Aguero is back from the start he’s the best City option in the City team closely followed by Leroy Sane, Raheem Sterling and maybe even Kevin de Bruyne.

I think City will bounce back with a narrow victory in this game, but it won’t be easy for them.

Prediction: 1-2

Liverpool v Newcastle United

3pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool won 2-0 away to Wolves on Friday night and City’s defeat at home to Palace put them four points clear at the top of the table. They’re the only team unbeaten at home with only City and Arsenal taking more home points and no other team conceding less goals at home. They’re the only unbeaten team and they have conceded less goals than any other team with 11 clean sheets in their 18 games.

Mohamed Salah is the Liverpool player to have for fantasy managers, but he’s closely followed by Adam Robertson, Virgil van Djik and Allison.

Newcastle drew 0-0 at home to the bottom club on Saturday, but they’re still five points clear of the drop zone. They have only lost two of their eight away games with only City and Liverpool conceding less goals on the road. They have only lost twice in their last nine games and they kept clean sheets in their last two games.

I can’t see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Liverpool will win this game with two goals or more to spare and a clean sheet too.

Prediction: 3-0

Manchester United v Huddersfield Town

3pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United got their new chapter off to a good start with a 5-1 win away to Cardiff on Saturday to stay sixth in the league. They have only lost one of their eight home games, but they are conceding far too many goals at home. They have only lost once in their last six games and they scored 14 goals in their last five games.

Jessie Lingard, Paul Pogba, Anthony Martial and Marcus Rashford all look like they could do well for fantasy managers under the new regime.

Huddersfield lost 3-1 at home to Southampton on Saturday and they’re now only off the foot of the table on goal difference. Only Cardiff and Fulham have taken less points away from home and only the same two teams have scored less away goals. They have lost their last five games and only scored one goal in their last three.

I don’t think they are any Huddersfield players to remotely interest fantasy managers at the moment.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable United victory in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Tottenham Hotspur v Bournemouth

3pm GMT, Wembley Stadium, London

Spurs won 6-2 away to Everton on Sunday to move within two points of second placed City. They have won five of their seven home games and only Liverpool have conceded less goals at home. They have won seven of their last eight games and they scored 21 goals in those games.

Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli (if he’s fit) are all doing very well for fantasy managers at the moment.

Bournemouth won 2-0 at home to Brighton on Saturday to move back up to eighth place within three points of the top six. They have lost five of their eight away games and they have lost their last three on the road while conceding seven goals in those three games. They have lost six of their last eight games and only six teams have conceded more goals.

Callum Wilson has done very well so far this season for fantasy managers while Ryan Fraser and David Brooks are pretty good options too.

I think Spurs will continue to put the pressure on the teams above them with a comfortable win in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Brighton And Hove Albion v Arsenal

5.15pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton lost 2-0 away to Bournemouth on Saturday, but they’re still a healthy nine points above the relegation zone. They have won half of their eight home games and it’s that home form that is keeping them safe. They have lost their last three games and they only scored one goal in those three games.

Solomon March is the Brighton player of most interest to fantasy managers at the moment and he’s available at a good price too while Glenn Murray tends to do very well at home.

Arsenal won 3-1 at home to Burnley on Saturday and they’re only behind fourth placed Chelsea on goal difference. They have only lost two of their eight away games with only Spurs and Liverpool scoring more goals away from home. They have only lost once in their last 16 games and only City have scored more goals.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still the must have Arsenal player for fantasy managers with Sead Kolasinac worth considering when he’s fit to play.

I think this will be a very tight game with Arsenal just about emerging with the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Watford v Chelsea

7.30pm GMT, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford won 2-0 away to West Ham on Saturday to move up to seventh place and they’re only two points off sixth placed United. They have won five of their nine home games, but they have lost two of the last three on their own patch. They are unbeaten in three games and they have scored seven goals in those games, but their clean sheet last week was their first clean sheet in eight games.

Roberto Pereyra and Jose Holebas continue to impress for fantasy managers and they both definitely worth considering.

Chelsea lost 1-0 at home to Leicester on Saturday, but they just about held on to their top four spot on goal difference from Arsenal. They have won five of their eight away games and only two teams have conceded less goals away from home.

Eden Hazard is the Chelsea player to have for fantasy managers while all of their defenders and keeper have done well too with Marcus Alonso in particular excelling.

This is a game which could go either way, but I think Chelsea might just get a narrow victory.

Prediction: 1-2

Thursday December 27

Southampton v West Ham United

7.45pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton won 3-1 away to Huddersfield on Saturday on Saturday to move three points above the relegation zone. They won their last home against Arsenal and that’s their only home win so far. No other team has drawn more games than Southampton, but they have won their last two games.

Danny Ings looks like a real bargain for fantasy managers at the moment while Nathan Redmond looks like he might flourish under their new manager.

West Ham lost 2-0 at home to Watford on Saturday to put an end to their recent good run, but they’re only one point off the top half of the table. They have won as many away games as they have lost and they are unbeaten in their last four games on the road.

Felipe Anderson is the West Ham player to have for fantasy managers at the moment with Lukas Fabianski always doing well in goal fit them too.

I think Southampton’s revival will continue with another narrow victory in this game.

Prediction: 2-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
