Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 10

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did fairly well compared to a lot of others last week with one perfect prediction, four correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes to move up to sixth in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Saturday October 27

Brighton And Hove Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers

3pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton got a very important 1-0 win away to Newcastle last week to move six points clear of the bottom three. Their home form kept them up last season and they have already taken seven points from their four home games this season. They have won their last two games and they kept clean sheets in both of them after failing to keep a clean sheet in their first seven games.

If he’s passed fit play after his head injury Glenn Murray has a very good scoring record at home and he could be of real interest to fantasy managers.

Wolves were going very well until they lost 2-0 at home to Watford last week and they will want to get straight back on the horse. They have only lost one away game so far with only City and Chelsea conceding less goals away from home, but only Cardiff have scored less goals away from home. Their defeat last week was their first one in seven games and only four teams have conceded less goals, but they are the lowest scorers in the top half of the table.

Wolves defenders and keeper had all being doing very well for fantasy managers until last week and there’s no reason to believe that won’t continue.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Fulham v Bournemouth

3pm BST, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham lost 4-2 away to Cardiff last week and that defeat saw them drop into the relegation zone. They have lost two of their four home games with only Cardiff conceding more goals on their own ground. They have lost their last three games and conceded 12 goals in the process with no other team conceding more goals so far.

Andre Schurrle and Aleksandar Mitrovic have done very well for fantasy managers and they’re both available at reasonable prices too.

Bournemouth drew 0-0 at home to Southampton last week and that point was enough to keep them in the top six. They have won half of their away games so far and they will think they have every chance of winning away from home again in this game. They have taken seven points in their last three home games with clean sheets in their last two and only three teams have scored more goals.

Callum Wilson, Josh King and Ryan Fraser have all done very well for fantasy managers up to now at a very good price and they’re all certainly worth considering.

I think Bournemouth will take advantage of Fulham’s defensive problems and take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

Liverpool v Cardiff  City

3pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool weren’t exactly at their best last week, but they just about managed to win 1-0 away to Huddersfield. They have taken 10 points from their four home games and they’re the only team who haven’t conceded a goal at home so far. They’re one of three teams still unbeaten and no other team has conceded less goals.

The Liverpool defenders and keeper are still looking like the best choices in their team for fantasy managers while Mohamed Salah might just be returning to form too.

Cardiff got their first win of the season last week when they won 4-2 at home to Fulham to move out of the bottom three. They have only taken one point away from home and no other team has scored less goals away from home. Only Fulham have conceded more goals, but they could find themselves getting closer to that goal tally in this game.

Josh Murphy has done quite well in recent weeks for fantasy managers and he’s available at a very good price too.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable Liverpool win in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

Southampton v Newcastle United

3pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton managed to get a point in a pretty drab 0-0 draw away to Bournemouth last week, but they’re only one point above the bottom three. They haven’t won at home yet with only Huddersfield and Palace scoring less goals at home. They haven’t won in five games and they haven’t scored in four with only Palace and Huddersfield scoring less goals.

It’s hard to see any Southampton players who might be of interest to fantasy managers at the moment.

Newcastle lost 1-0 at home to Brighton last week and they slipped to the foot of the table. Their only points have come away from home with only Cardiff scoring less goals on the road, but only six teams have conceded less goals on their travels. They have lost seven of their nine games with only two teams scoring less goals and they have failed to score in three of their last four games.

I can’t see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think there’s a very good chance this game will end in a scoreless draw.

Prediction: 0-0

Watford v Huddersfield Town

3pm BST, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford got a very good 2-0 win away to Wolves last week to put an end to their poor run of results. They have won three of their five home games, but only three teams have conceded more goals at home. Their win at Wolves was their first win in five games and their first clean sheet in eight.

Roberto Pereyra is probably the best choice in the Watford team for fantasy managers, but his contributions are sporadic.

Huddersfield were probably a little unlucky to lose 1-0 at home to Liverpool last week and they’re only one point off the foot of the table. Only Fulham have conceded more goals away from home, but they have scored in each of their away games despite failing to score at home so far. No other team has scored less goals and they have only taken one point and scored two goals in their last five games.

I still can’t see any Huddersfield players to recommend to fantasy managers.

Despite their lowly position Huddersfield are not easy to beat and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them take a point in this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v West Ham United

5.30pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester led 1-0 away to Arsenal last week, but they ended up losing 3-1 to drop into the bottom half of the table. They have lost two of their last three home games, but they have scored in each of their home games so far. They have lost four of their last six games, but they are one of only two teams who have scored in every game at this stage.

Since I bought James Maddison into my fantasy team he has done very little, but surely he will turn things around quite soon.

West Ham were more than a little unlucky to lose 1-0 at home to Spurs last week and they’re now only two points above the relegation zone. They have lost three of their four away games and only four teams have conceded more away goals. They lost their last two games without scoring and only four teams have scored less goals.

Marco Arnautovic is still the West Ham player most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers.

I think this will be another very close game, but the chances are Leicester will take the three points.

Prediction: 3-1

Sunday October 28

Burnley v Chelsea

1.30pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley lost 5-0 at City last week and they’re only three points above the bottom three. They took more points away from home than at home last season and it looks like that could be the case again this season. Their defeat at City was their first in five games, but only three teams have conceded more goals.

Johann Berg Gudmundsson has done very well for fantasy managers at a very good price and Joe Hart hasn’t done too badly either.

Chelsea left it very late at home to United last week, but they managed to salvage a point and keep their unbeaten start to the season intact. They have taken 10 points from their four away games and no other team has conceded less goals away from home. They’re one of only three teams still unbeaten with only City and Arsenal scoring more goals and only City and Liverpool conceding less.

Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso are the best options in the Chelsea team for fantasy managers even if they didn’t have the best week last week.

I think Burnley’s woes will continue with Chelsea wining by a couple of goals at least.

Prediction: 0-2

Crystal Palace v Arsenal

1.30pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace paid dearly for a missed penalty at Everton last week when they ended up losing 2-0 and they’re now only two points above the bottom three. Only Newcastle have taken less points at home and they’re one of two teams who haven’t scored at home yet. They have lost their last two games without scoring and they have only scored two goals in their last six games with only Huddersfield scoring less goals.

Wilfried Zaha has been the best player in the Palace team for fantasy managers, but the goals have dried up in recent games.

Arsenal came from behind to win 3-1 at home to Leicester last week and they’re still hot on the heels of both City and Liverpool. They have won three of their four away games and no other team has scored more goals away from home. They have won their last seven games to move into the top four and only City have scored more goals.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has done really well for fantasy managers in recent weeks despite starting on the bench while Alexandre Lacazette, Mesut Ozil and Hector Bellerin have done quite well too.

I think Palace will make a game of it, but Arsenal’s firepower should be enough for them to take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Manchester United v Everton

4pm GMT, Selhurst Park, London

United were pegged back right at the death away to Chelsea last week as they continue to lose ground on the top four. They have only won two of their four home games and they haven’t kept a clean sheet at home so far. They have only kept one clean sheet so far with only four teams conceding more goals.

Anthony Martial has done very well for fantasy managers in recent weeks while Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku have the ability to do very well too.

Everton rode their luck a little last week, but their 2-0 win against Palace moved them up to eighth place within two points of the top six. They had a very poor away record last season, but they did get their first away win of the season in their last away game at Leicester. They have won their last three games and they kept clean sheets in two of those games while scoring seven goals.

I still think Richarlison is the best choice in the Everton team for fantasy managers with Gylfi Sigurdsson doing very well in recent weeks too.

I think United will get a much needed win in this game, but it won’t be easy for them.

Prediction: 2-1

Monday October 29

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City

8pm GMT, GMT, Wembley Stadium, London

Spurs were far from their best away to West Ham last week, but their 1-0 win was enough to keep them two points behind City and Liverpool at the top of the table. They have played less home games than any other team which could be why only Liverpool and City have conceded less goals at home. They have won their last four games and kept clean sheets in their last three with only City and Liverpool conceding less goals.

Harry Kane is the Spurs player fantasy managers have depended on for a long time, but he has struggled in the last two games and it’s the Spurs defenders who have impressed.

City strolled to a 5-0 win at home to Burnley last week to increase their goal difference advantage over Liverpool at the top of the table to 10 goals. The only points they have dropped so far have been away from home, but no other team has conceded less goals away from home. They’re one of three teams still unbeaten and no other team had scored more or conceded less goals.

Sergio Aguero is still the City player to have for fantasy managers with all of their defenders and keeper doing well too while knowing which midfielder will be picked week by week would be a great help.

A Spurs win in this game would move them above City in the table, but I think the chances are they will lose a close game.

Prediction: 1-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
