Saturday October 20
Chelsea v Manchester United
12.30pm BST, Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea won 3-0 away to Southampton last week to move up to second behind City on goal difference. They’re one of four teams still unbeaten at home with only City taking more points and scoring more goals at home. Only City and Arsenal have scored more goals with only City and Liverpool conceding less and they are one of the three teams still unbeaten.
Eden Hazard and Marcos Alonso are the outstanding players for fantasy managers in the Chelsea team, but all of their defenders and keeper are worth considering too.
United came from two goals behind to win 3-2 at home to Newcastle in their last game and they probably saved Jose Mourinho s job for the moment in the process. They have won two and lost two of their away games so far with only three other teams conceding more goals on the road. They have only kept one clean sheet so far with only three other teams conceding more goals.
The United players haven’t exactly excelled for fantasy managers so far, but Paul Pogba and Romelu Lukaku are the most likely to perform.
I think Chelsea will continue their unbeaten start to the season with a narrow win in this game.
Prediction: 2-1
Bournemouth v Southampton
3pm BST, Vitality Stadium, Bournemouth
Bournemouth strolled to a 4-0 win at Watford in their last game to move up to sixth in the table. They are still unbeaten at home with only City taking more points and scoring more goals on their own patch. They have done very well to take an average of two points per game so far and they’re scoring plenty of goals in the process.
Calum Wilson, Josh King and Ryan Fraser (if he’s fit) are all doing very well for fantasy managers at the moment.
Southampton lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea last time out and they’re only two points above the bottom three. They have managed to win one of their four away games, but only Cardiff and Brighton have scored less goals away from home. They haven’t scored in their last three games with only three teams scoring less goals and only three teams conceding more too.
Danny Ings is a possibility for fantasy managers, but Southampton aren’t scoring too many goals this season.
I think Bournemouth will continue their impressive start to the season by taking the three points in this game.
Prediction: 2-1
Cardiff City v Fulham
3pm BST, Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff
Cardiff were possibly a little unlucky to lose 1-0 at Spurs in their last game, but that defeat leaves them still rooted to the foot of the table. Only Newcastle have taken less points at home and no other team has conceded less goals on their own ground. They’re one of three teams without a win and no other team has scored less goals so far with only Fulham conceding more.
I can’t see any Cardiff players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
Fulham lost 5-1 at home to Arsenal in their last game and they’re only one place above the relegation zone. They have only taken one point away from home and no other team has conceded more goals on their travels. They haven’t kept a clean sheet yet and they have conceded more goals than any other team too.
Despite their lowly position Aleksandar Mitrovic and Andree Schurrle are both doing well for fantasy managers.
I think Cardiff will have to wait longer for their first win as Fulham ease the pressure on themselves by taking all three points in this game.
Prediction: 1-3
Manchester City v Burnley
3pm BST, Etihad Stadium, Manchester
City drew 0-0 away to Liverpool in their last game to stay on top of the table on goal difference. They’re the only team still with a 100% record at home and they’re the leading scorers at home too with only Liverpool conceding less home goals. They’re one of three teams still unbeaten with no other team scoring more goals or conceding less.
Raheem Sterling is the outstanding City player for fantasy managers at the moment with Sergio Aguero, all of their defenders and keeper doing very well too.
Burnley could only draw 1-1 at home to struggling Huddersfield in their last game. They struggled away from home last season, but they have won once away from home so far this season. After a poor start to the season they have taken seven points from their last three games, but they will do very well to get anything from this game.
Johann Berg Gudmundsson is the Burnley player of most interest to fantasy managers at the moment and Joe Hart isn’t doing too badly either.
I think City will be too strong for Burnley and should win with a few goals to spare.
Prediction: 3-0
Newcastle United v Brighton And Hove Albion
3pm BST, St. James’ Park, Newcastle
Newcastle led 2-0 away to United in their last game, but they ended up losing 3-2 and they’re only off the foot of the table on goal difference. They’re the only team without a point at home and only two other teams have conceded more home goals. They’re one of three teams without a win and they have failed to score in three of their eight games so far.
I can’t see any Newcastle players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
Brighton won 1-0 at home to West Ham last time out to move themselves five points clear of the bottom three. No other team has taken less points away from home and only Cardiff have scored less goals on the road. Their home form continues to keep them clear of the relegation zone and it has to hold up or they could struggle badly.
Glenn Murray looks like he can do quite well for fantasy managers, but only when he’s playing at home.
I think Newcastle will just about manage their first win of the season in a close game in this one.
Prediction: 1-0
West Ham United v Tottenham Hotspur
3pm BST, London Stadium, London
West Ham lost 1-0 away to Brighton in their last game to put an end to their recent good run. After losing their first two home games they took four points from home games against Chelsea and United in their last two at home. They have taken seven points from their last four games despite that defeat at Brighton and they failed to score in half of their eight games so far.
Marco Arnautovic is the West Ham player most likely to interest fantasy managers while Andriy Yarmolenko might not be the worst choice either.
Spurs just about managed to win 1-0 at home to Cardiff in their last game and they dropped out of the top four on goal difference. They have taken more away points than any other team with only Arsenal scoring more away goals, but Spurs have played more away games than any other team. They have won their last three games and kept clean sheets in their last two, but they have struggled for goals in their last five games.
Harry Kane and Kieran Trippier are the Spurs players most likely to interest fantasy managers with Dele Alli and Christian Eriksen suffering from injury problems quite often this season.
I think this will be a very close game, but Spurs will probably emerge with the three points.
Prediction: 1-2
Wolverhampton Wanderers v Watford
3pm BST, Molineux, Wolverhampton
Wolves won 1-0 away to Palace in their last game and they’re now only a point outside the top six. They are still unbeaten at home with only Liverpool and City conceding less home goals. They have only lost one game so far with only the top three conceding less goals, but they’re the lowest scorers in the top half of the table.
All of Wolves defenders and goalkeeper are very good buys for fantasy managers, but Matt Doherty stands out among them while Raul Jiminez is a pretty good choice too.
Watford lost 4-0 at home to Bournemouth in their last game as their good start to the season appears to be fading fast. Only four teams have taken more away points, but they have played more away games than any other team. They haven’t won in three games and they have lost their last two without scoring as well as conceding six goals in those two games.
Troy Deeney, Andre Gray and Roberto Pereyra have all done well for fantasy managers so far, but I’m not so sure how long it will last.
I think Wolves will continue to impress in this game with another win and quite possibly a clean sheet too.
Prediction: 2-0
Huddersfield Town v Liverpool
5.30pm BST, John Smith’s Stadium
Huddersfield got a very good 1-1 draw away to Burnley in their last game, but they’re still in the relegation zone. They have only taken one point at home and they’re one of two teams without a home goal so far. They’re one of three teams without a win with no other team scoring less goals and only Fulham conceding more.
I can’t see any Huddersfield players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.
Liverpool drew 0-0 at home to City last time out to drop back to third place, but they’re only behind the two teams above them on goal difference. They have taken 10 points from their four away games with only Chelsea and City conceding less away goals. They’re one of three teams still unbeaten and no other team has conceded less goals.
Liverpool’s defenders and keeper have been the best choices in their team for fantasy managers recently, but surely Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will come good again soon.
I think Liverpool should have more than enough to win this game with a couple of goals to spare.
Prediction: 0-2
Sunday October 21
Everton v Crystal Palace
4pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool
Everton won 2-1 away to Leicester in their last game, but they’re still not in the top half of the table. It was their home form which eventually saw them finish in the top half of the table last season, but they’ve only won once in their last three home games. They have won their last two games after only winning once in their first six, but they have only kept one clean sheet so far this season.
Gylfi Sigurdsson has done very well for fantasy managers in recent weeks, but I think Richarlison is still the best bet in the Everton team.
Palace lost 1-0 at home to Wolves in their last game and they’re really struggling to score goals at the moment. They have won two of their four away games which is an awful lot better than they have done at home so far. They have only won once in their last seven games though and they failed to score in four of those games with only Huddersfield and Cardiff scoring less goals.
Aaron Wan-Bissaka has done very well at a good price for fantasy managers so far, but his price is slowly climbing.
I think Everton will just about get the better of a close affair to continue their improvement.
Prediction: 2-1
Monday October 22
Arsenal v Leicester City
8pm BST, Emirates Stadium, London
Arsenal won 5-1 away to Fulham in their last game to move into the top four and they’re only two points behind the leaders. They have won their last three home games and kept clean sheets in the last two. They have won their last six league games and only City have scored more goals.
Alexandre Lacazette has been in very good form for fantasy managers in recent weeks while Mesut Ozil and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang haven’t being doing too badly either.
Leicester lost 2-1 at home to Everton in their last game after they were reduced to 10 men. They have won two of their four away games, but only three teams have conceded more goals away from home. They have won four and lost four games so far, but they haven’t failed to score in any of their games.
James Maddison and Jamie Vardy are the Leicester players to have for fantasy managers while Harry Maguire hasn’t done too badly either despite Leicester conceding plenty of goals.
I think Leicester will put up a good fight, but Arsenal’s firepower should be enough to see them emerge victorious.
Prediction: 3-1
That’s it for this week.
See you next week.
