Predictions For Premier League Gameweek Six

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did fairly well last week with two perfect predictions, four correct outcomes and four incorrect outcomes which moved me a little closer towards the top of my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Saturday September 22

Fulham v Watford

12.30pm BST, Craven Cottage, London

Fulham lost 3-0 away to City last week, but their fixtures will get a little easier for the next few weeks. Their only win so far has come at home, but only three other teams have conceded more home goals. They haven’t managed to keep a clean sheet yet and they have conceded more goals than any other team.

Aleksandar Mitrovic, Andre Schurrle and Jean Michael Seri have all done well for fantasy managers and they’re all available at a fairly good price too.

Watford’s 100% record came to an end last week when they lost 2-1 at home to United. They have won their only away game so far, but they lost more away games than any other team last season. They have scored in every game they have played so far and only the three teams above them have conceded less goals.

Roberto Pereyra, Jose Holebas and Troy Deeney have all started very well for fantasy managers and they could prosper in this game too.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended in a draw.

Prediction: 2-2

Burnley v Bournemouth

3pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley lost 1-0 away to Wolves last week and they’re now rooted to the foot of the table. They’re one of four teams without a point at home and only Newcastle have conceded more goals on their own patch. They’re one of four teams without a win at all and only Huddersfield have scored less goals.

I can’t see any Burnley players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Bournmouth won 4-2 at home to Everton last week to continue their impressive start to the season and move up to fifth place. They have won once and lost once away from home so far and only seven teams took more points on the road last season. They’re in a very creditable fifth place and only three teams have scored more goals.

Ryan Fraser is looking very good for fantasy managers at the moment while Callum Wilson and Josh King aren’t doing too badly either.

I think Bournemouth’s firepower might just be enough to give them the edge in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Cardiff City v Manchester City

3 pm BST, Cardiff City Stadium, Cardiff

Cardiff led at Chelsea last week, but they ended up losing 4-1 and have yet to win their first game. If they’re going to have any chance of staying up their home form will be crucial, but they won’t be expected to get anything from this game. They have kept two clean sheets so far, but they failed to score in three games and only Huddersfield have scored less goals.

Neil Etheridge has been the best of the Cardiff players for fantasy managers so far, but I still can’t see him being a long term prospect.

City won 3-0 at home to Fulham last week, but they still haven’t reached the heights of last season. They blew the league away with an incredible record on the road last season and they will be trying to at least match that this season. They are still unbeaten with four wins from five games and no other team has scored more goals while only Liverpool have conceded less.

Sergio Aguero is still the best fantasy option in the City team as long as he’s fit to play while David Silva and Benjamin Mendy (if he’s fit as well) are very good options too.

I think City should win this game with at least a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 0-3

Crystal Palace v Newcastle United

3pm BST, Selhurst Park, London

Palace won 1-0 away to Huddersfield last week to put an end to a run of three defeats in a row. They have lost both of their home games so far and they’re one of two teams who haven’t scored at home. They needed the win last week to get them back on track and they have kept two clean sheets so far.

Once he’s fit to play Wilfried Zaha is the best fantasy choice in the Palace team while all of their defenders have the ability to do well for fantasy managers too.

Newcastle lost 2-1 at home to Arsenal last week and they’re only off the foot of the table on goal difference. Their only point so far came away from home, but they only won four away games last season. They have already played four of last season’s top six and they will be looking forward to some relatively easier games.

I can’t see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment, but that might change as their fixtures improve.

I think this will be a very close game and Palace might just get a narrow victory.

Prediction: 1-0

Leicester City v Huddersfield Town

3pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester lost 4-2 away to Bournemouth last week and they have lost three of their first five games. Their defeat from their two home games so far came against Liverpool and they will be hoping for a few more home wins with some comparatively easier home games on the horizon. They have lost their last two games and only four teams have conceded more goals.

James Maddison continues to impress for fantasy managers and he’s probably the best bet in the Leicester team.

Huddersfield lost 1-0 at home to Palace last week and they’re still looking for their first win of the season. They did get a draw at Everton in their last away game, but only West Ham have conceded more goals away from home. They haven’t won a game yet and only Fulham have conceded more goals while no other team has scored less.

I can’t see any Huddersfield players to recommend to fantasy managers.

I think Leicester should get back to winning ways in this game with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction:  2-0

Liverpool v Southampton

3pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool were very impressive in winning 2-1 at Spurs last week and continuing their perfect start to the season. They were the only team unbeaten at home last season and they’re the only team who haven’t conceded a goal at home so far. They have conceded less goals than any other team and are looking more and more likely to put up a real challenge to City.

Sadio Mane still looks like the best option in the Liverpool team for fantasy managers with all of their defenders and keeper with considering as well as Mohamed Salah of course if you can afford him.

Southampton led 2-0 at home to Brighton last week, but they were pegged back and had to settle for a 2-2 draw. They drew more away games than any other team last season and they would be more than happy to get a draw from this game. They only just avoided relegation last season and they won’t be too far off it again if they continue to throw away two goal leads.

With Danny Ings ineligible maybe Pierre Emile Hojbjerg might be the Southampton player to interest fantasy managers.

I think Liverpool should take the three points quite comfortably despite having to play in midweek in the Champions League.

Prediction: 2-0

Manchester United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

3pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United won 2-1 away to Watford last week as they continue to get their season back on track. They had the best defensive record at home last season, but only three teams have conceded more home goals so far this season. They have a fairly good run of games for the next few weeks and will look to climb the table before meeting some of the other top clubs.

Romelu Lukaku has done very well for fantasy managers in recent weeks while Paul Pogba still looks like a good choice too.

Wolves won 1-0 at home to Burnley last week for their second win in a row. It's hard to judge their away performances so far from only two games, but they are not an easy team to beat. The look the promoted team most likely to make an impression and if they continue to play as they are at the moment a top half finish is not beyond them.

Ruben Neves and Raul Jiminez are both doing quite well for fantasy managers and the Wolves defenders aren’t doing too badly either.

I think Wolves will give United plenty to think about, but United will win by the odd goal.

Prediction: 2-1

Brighton And Hove Albion v Tottenham Hotspur

5.30pm BST, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton came back from 2-0 down to draw 2-2 away to Southampton on Monday night. Only seven teams took more home points last season and they are unbeaten in their two home games this season including a win against United. They will continue to struggle at the wrong end of the table until they sort out their away form though, but the point at Southampton was a very good one for them.

Glenn Murray has done well so far this season for fantasy managers and particularly when he plays at home.

Spurs lost 2-1 at home to Liverpool last week to slip to their second defeat in a row. Only City took more away points last season and they have won two of their three away games so far including a 3-0 win at United. They have only kept one clean sheet so far and they need to shore up their defence if they're going to do as well as they did last season.

Harry Kane is still the best fantasy option in the Spurs team, but none of their players have done much recently for fantasy managers.

I think Brighton will give Spurs a run for their money, but Spurs should take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday September 23

West Ham United v Chelsea

1.30pm BST, London Stadium, London

West Ham got their first points of the season with an impressive 3-1 win at Everton last week. They have lost both of their home games so far and their fans have being growing very impatient with them at home. The win at Everton lifted them off the foot of the table and only Fulham have conceded more goals.

Despite their win last week there aren’t too many West Ham pkayers to interest fantasy managers with Marco Arnautovic the best of them and he’s an injury doubt this week.

Chelsea came from behind to win 4-1 at home to Cardiff last week and move to the top of the table on goal difference. They’re one of two teams to have won all of their away games and no other team has conceded less goals away from home. They’re one of two teams still with a 100% record and they’re the top scorers too.

Eden Hazard is in great form for fantasy managers at the moment while Marcus Alonso and the rest of the Chelsea defenders are pretty good bets too.

I think Chelsea should keep their perfect start to the season going with a fairly comfortable win in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

Arsenal v Everton

4pm BST, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal won 2-1 away to Newcastle last week to make it three wins in a row as they continue their progress. Only City took more points and scored more goals at home last season and they will need to make the Emirates a fortress this season too if they’re to have any hope of finishing in the top four. They haven’t kept a clean sheet yet and their defensive deficiencies could cost them dearly.

Both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette have done well for fantasy managers and are certainly worth considering.

Everton’s unbeaten start to the season came to an end when they lost 3-1 at home to West Ham. They are still unbeaten away from home, but they have drawn both of their games and they only won three games away from home last season. They conceded too many goals last season and the early signs this season are they could have the same problems in defence.

With Richarlison back from suspension this week he has to be a real target for fantasy managers.

I think Arsenal’s improvement will continue with another win in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
