Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 27

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn't have the best week last week with only one perfect prediction, two correct outcomes and seven incorrect, but I still managed to move up one more place in my predictions league. Here's a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Saturday February 10

Tottenham Hotspur v Arsenal

12.30pm GMT, Wembley Stadium, London

Spurs twice came from behind to get a 2-2 draw at Liverpool last week and they’re only one point behind fourth placed Chelsea. They have taken 19 points from their last seven home games and they scored 21 goals in those games with only three teams scoring more goals at home and only United conceding less. They are unbeaten in eight games with clean sheets in half of those games.

Harry Kane is still the top scoring striker for fantasy managers while Dele Alli, Christian Eriksen and Heung-Min Son are all doing very well too.

Arsenal romped to a 5-1 victory at home to Everton last week and they’re still only five points off the top four despite a very disappointing season so far. They have only won three of their 13 away games and only one of their last six on the road. They have only won four of their last 12 games and they haven’t kept a clean sheet in eight games.

Both Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang have hit the ground running at Arsenal for fantasy managers while Aaron Ramsey looks good too since his return from injury.

I think this could be a very close game, but I have a feeling Arsenal might just get the win they so badly need.

Prediction: 1-2

Everton v Crystal Palace

3pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton were thumped 5-1 at Arsenal last week and they’re not quite clear of the fight to avoid relegation yet. They have only lost once in their last eight home games and it’s that home form which should ultimately see them safe. They have only won once in their last eight games and they failed to score in four of those games.

I’m not too sure there are any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers, but Theo Walcott has done well since his arrival from Arsenal.

Palace came from behind to get a 1-1 draw at home to Newcastle last week and stay three points above the bottom three. They have only won two of their 13 away games with only two teams scoring less goals away from home, but they have only lost once in their last seven games on the road. They have only lost twice in their last 15 games, but they have drawn eight of those games.

Andros Townsend and Luka Milivojevic both look like reasonably priced options for fantasy managers.

I think Palace might just have enough to get a narrow win in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

Stoke City v Brighton And Hove Albion

Stoke led at Bournemouth last week, but they ended up losing 2-1 and they dropped back into the bottom three. They have taken 10 points from their last six home games, but only Watford have conceded more goals at home and they will have to keep taking points at home if they want to avoid the drop. No other team has lost more games or conceded more goals than Stoke and they have only won once in their last seven games.

Xherdan Shaqiri might just do well under Paul Lambert and he’s certainly worth considering for fantasy managers.

Brighton won 3-1 at home to West Ham last week and that win moved them three points above the relegation zone. They haven’t won in seven away games and they only scored one goal in those games with no other team scoring less goals away from home. They have only won twice in their last 15 games, but they at least managed four points in their last two games.

Despite doing well last week I’m still not sure Pascal Gross can reach the heights he reached for fantasy managers earlier in the season.

I think Stoke should be good enough at home to take the three points they need to move out of the bottom three.

Prediction: 2-0

Swansea City v Burnley

3pm GMT, Liberty Stadium, Swansea

Swansea came from behind to get a 1-1 draw at Leicester last week and that point moved them out of the bottom three on goal difference. They won their last two home games against Liverpool and Arsenal, but only Burnley have scored less goals at home. They are unbeaten in four games and they look like they might just have a good chance of avoiding the drop, but no other team has scored less goals.

Despite their recent upturn I still can’t see any Swansea players to recommend to fantasy managers.

Burnley came from behind to get a very good 1-1 draw at home to City last week, but they’re now nine points behind the top six. Only the top five have taken more points away from home and only City have conceded less goals away from home, but they haven’t won in six games on the road and they failed to score in four of those games. They haven’t won in nine games and they failed to score in five of those games.

Burnley players haven’t done well for fantasy managers in a while, but they have put a difficult run of games behind them now and their defenders and keeper might just be about to have a change in fortunes.

I think Burnley might just get their first win in a while despite Swansea’s recent upturn.

Prediction: 0-1

West Ham United v Watford

3pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham were beaten 3-1 at Brighton last week and their injury problems are becoming a real concern for them. They have only lost once in their last seven home games, but they drew four of those games. They have only lost twice in 11 games, but they haven’t kept a clean sheet in eight games with only Stoke conceding more goals.

With so many players out injured I can’t see any of the West Ham players who might make a difference for fantasy managers.

Watford won 4-1 at home to 10 man Chelsea last week and they’re only one point outside the top half even though they’re only six points above the relegation zone. They have only taken one point and scored two goals in their last six away games, but only six teams have more away points. Their win against Chelsea was only their second win in 13 games and only three other teams have conceded more goals.

Abdoulaye Doucoure continues to impress for fantasy managers while Gerard Deloufeu might just be worth a gamble too.

West Ham could really do with a win in this game, but I think they will have to settle for a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Manchester City v Leicester City

5.30pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City led at Burnley last week, but they ended up drawing 1-1 and their lead at the top of the table was cut to 13 points. They have only dropped two points in 13 home games with no other team scoring more home goals and only United conceding less on their own patch. They’re still on course to break all sorts of Premier League records and they’re by far the top scorers, but they’re on their worst run of the season with only three wins in their last six games.

There are so many City players to choose from for fantasy managers with Raheem Sterling, Kevin de Bruyne and Sergio Aguero probably the best choices while Bernardo Silva could just be the bargain buy in their team.

Leicester led at home to struggling Swansea last week, but they were pegged back and only took a point. They have only taken one point in their last four away games and they have only one clean sheet in their last nine away games, but only six teams have more points on the road. They have only won twice in their last nine games, but they have kept clean sheets in three of their last five games.

With Riyad Mahrez still sulking it looks like Jamie Vardy and Harry Maguire are the best fantasy options in the Leicester team.

City should be too strong for Leicester and should win with at least a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-1

Sunday February 11

Huddersfield Town v Bournemouth

12pm GMT, John Smith’s Stadium, Huddersfield

Huddersfield lost 2-0 at United last week and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom three for the first time. They haven’t won in five home games and they conceded 11 goals in those games with only Watford and Stoke conceding more goals at home. They haven’t won in eight games and they lost their last five games while conceding 14 goals in the process with only Stoke conceding more goals.

I can’t see any Huddersfield players to recommend to fantasy managers.

Bournemouth came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Stoke last week and that win moved them up to ninth place. They have won their last three home games by the same 2-1 scoreline and they have scored nine goals in their last four home games. They are unbeaten in seven games and they scored 15 goals in those games, but they’re still only seven points above the relegation zone.

Calum Wilson has done very well recently for fantasy managers and he doesn’t cost the earth.

I think Bournemouth’s good run will continue with another three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

Newcastle United v Manchester United

2.15pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle led at Palace last week, but they had to settle for a 1-1 draw and they’re only a point above the bottom three. No other team has taken less points at home and they haven’t won in eight games at home with only Burnley and Swansea scoring less goals at home. They have only lost once in their last six games, but they drew four of those games and they haven’t managed to score more than one goal in any of their last seven games.

I have been impressed by Kenedy since he was loaned to Newcastle and he might just be worth a shot for fantasy managers.

United won 2-0 at home to Huddersfield last week to close the gap to City at the top of the table to 13 points. Only City have lost less games and conceded less goals away from home and they have taken 16 points from their last seven games on the road. Only City have won more games with no other team conceding less goals and they have won four of their last five games with clean sheets in each of those wins.

United’s defenders and keeper are the best choices in their team for fantasy managers while Paul Pogba, Alexis Sanchez and Romelu Lukaku are all capable of big scores, but Jesse Lingard isn’t sure of his place any more.

I think United will take advantage of Newcastle’s poor home form to win by a couple of goals in this game.

Prediction: 0-2

Southampton v Liverpool

4.30pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton came from behind to win 3-2 away to West Brom last week and that win moved them out of the bottom three. Only West Brom have won less home games with only Watford and Stoke conceding more goals at home and they haven’t won in six games on their own patch. The win last week was their first win in 13 games and they have only kept one clean sheet in their last 17 games.

I can’t see any Southampton players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment despite both Jack Stephens and James Ward-Prowse doing quite well.

Liverpool led twice at home to Spurs last week, but they had to settle for a draw and that point was enough to keep them in third place. They have taken 19 points and scored 24 goals in their last eight away games, but only four other teams have conceded more away goals. They have only lost once in 17 games with only City scoring more goals, but they have only kept one clean sheet in their last six games.

Mohamed Salah is an absolute must have for fantasy managers, but besides Roberto Firmino there aren’t too many Liverpool players impressing at the moment.

Southampton won’t make life easy for Liverpool, but I think Liverpool will get a narrow victory.

Prediction: 1-2

Monday February 12

Chelsea v West Bromwich Albion

8pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea lost 4-1 at Watford on Monday night and that defeat means they’re only one point above fifth place. They haven’t scored or won in their last two home games, but they won seven in a row at home before that and they kept clean sheets in six of their last nine home games. They have only won once in their last five games and they conceded seven goals in their last two games.

Chelsea might be struggling at the moment, but Eden Hazard is still doing well for fantasy managers and their defenders should do well again very soon.

West Brom lost 3-2 at home to Southampton last week and that defeat left them rooted to the foot of the table four points below the next team. They have won less and drawn more home games than any other team and they need to turn some of those draws into wins. They have won less games than any other team and they have only won once in their last 24 games, but they have the most draws with 11 in their 26 games.

I’m not so sure there are any West Brom players who can make a difference for fantasy managers.

Despite their recent troubles I think Chelsea should be good enough to win at home to the bottom club.

Prediction: 2-0

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
