Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 27

It's that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did reasonably well last week with two perfect outcomes, three correct outcomes and three incorrect. However, everyone else seems to have done very well too and I'm still only third in my predictions league as you can see from the table below.

Saturday March 4

Manchester United v Bournemouth

12.30pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United didn't play last week as they were busy beating Southampton 3-2 in the EFL Cup final. They have only lost one of their 13 home games, but they have drawn more games at home than any other team and only the top two have conceded less goals at home. They are unbeaten in 16 games and have kept a clean sheet in their last three, but they have scored an awful lot less goals than the rest of the top six.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic continues to lead the way in the United team for fantasy managers and their defenders have done quite well recently too.

Bournemouth led away to West Brom last week, but they ended up losing 2-1 as their slide towards the danger zone continues. They have lost nine of their 13 away games and no other team has conceded more goals away from home. They have only taken two points from their last seven games and they conceded 20 goals in those games with only Swansea conceding more goals so far.

I can't see any Bournemouth players to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

I think United should be too strong for Bournemouth and will keep in touch with the teams above them by taking all three points.

Prediction: 2-0

Leicester City v Hull City

3pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester disposed of their manager last week and proceeded to score their first goals and win their first league game of 2017. They have only lost four of their 13 home games and their home record would see them in the top half of the table rather than fighting for survival at the wrong end. They had lost five games in a row before beating Liverpool and had failed to score in six in a row.

If Leicester have improved after the dismissal of Claudio Ranieri then Jamie Vardy could be a good buy for fantasy managers.

Hull led at home to Burnley late on last week, but they had to settle for a draw which kept them in the bottom three. They have lost 10 of their 13 away games with no other team scoring less goals away from home and only Bournemouth and Swansea conceding more on the road. They have taken eight points from their last six games, but only Boro have scored less goals and only Swansea and Bournemouth have conceded more.

Hull's defenders haven't done too badly recently with Eldin Jakupovic in goal probably the pick of them for fantasy managers.

This is a real relegation six pointer and recent events have made it hard to call, but I have a feeling it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Stoke City v Middlesbrough

3pm GMT, BET365 Arena, Stoke

Stoke were well beaten away to Spurs last week, but they're still just about in the top half of the table. They have only lost three of their 13 home games and have not lost in their last seven at home with clean sheets in four of them. They have taken 11 points from their last seven games, but they are the lowest scorers in the top half of the table.

Stoke players haven't exactly set the world of fantasy football alight in recent weeks.

Boro lost at Palace last week and they need to find a win and some goals from somewhere or they will be in the bottom three very soon. They have only won once in 13 away games, but no other team has drawn more away games with only Hull and Burnley scoring less goals on the road. They haven't won in their last nine games and have failed to score in six of those games.

I can't see any Boro players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment either.

Stoke need a result to regain some confidence after last week and a home game against a team who just can't seem to score should be just what they require.

Prediction: 1-0

Swansea City v Burnley

3pm GMT, Liberty Stadium, Swansea

Swansea fought hard at Chelsea last week, but they ended up losing 3-1 and they're by no means clear of the wrong end of the table. Only Palace have lost more home games than Swansea and no other team has conceded more goals at home, but they have won the last two on their own patch. They have won three of their last five games, but they have conceded more goals than any other team so far.

Gylfi Sigurdsson is still by far the best of the Swansea players for fantasy managers.

Burnley came from behind to get only their second away point of the season at Hull last week and maintain their mid table position. They haven't won away from home in 12 attempts and no other team has less points or less goals away from home. They have only won once in their last five games, but three wins in their last 12 should be more than enough to see them beat the drop.

As I've said many times before the Burnley defenders are good fantasy options, but only when they play at home.

I think Swansea will continue to climb away from the relegation zone by taking all three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Watford v Southampton

3pm GMT, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford led at home to West Ham for a long time last week, but they had to settle for a point in the end. They have only lost four of their 13 home games and have only lost one of the last six at home. They have only lost once in their last six games and they're still only one point outside the top half of the table.

Troy Deeney has been in good form recently and is certainly worth considering for fantasy managers.

Southampton didn't play last week as they were busy losing the EFL Cup final to United despite being the better team on the day. They have lost more than half of their 13 away games, but they did win 4-0 at Sunderland in their last away game to put an end to a run of three away defeats in a row. They have lost six of their last eight games and only four other teams have scored less goals so far.

Manolo Gabbiadini has been on fire since he joined Southampton and must be a very real option for fantasy managers to consider.

If Southampton can put their defeat by United behind them I think they might just get the better of this game.

Prediction: 1-2

West Bromwich Albion v Crystal Palace

3 pm GMT, The Hawthorns, Birmingham

West Brom just about won at home to Bournemouth last week to continue their impressive record against teams below them in the league. They have only lost three of their 13 home games and only five other teams have scored more goals at home. They have taken 17 points from their last eight games and are looking quite secure in eighth place.

Gareth McAuley continues to impress for fantasy managers while Chris Brunt hasn't done too badly either and Matt Phillips had been very impressive until a few weeks ago.

Palace got a very important win at home to Boro last week, but they're still in the bottom three even if it's only on goal difference. They have taken more points on the road than they have at home, but they have only won once in their last 10 away games. They have won two of their last four games, but they have failed to score in six of their last 10.

I still don't see any Palace players who might make a difference for fantasy managers.

I think West Brom should be good enough at home to win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 2-0

Liverpool v Arsenal

5.30pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool were well beaten by Leicester on Monday night and they're in real danger of finishing outside the top four this season. They have only lost one of their 12 home games with only Chelsea scoring more goals on their home patch. They have only won once in their last seven games and have conceded more goals than any other team in the top eight.

Sadio Mane has been the only Liverpool player to do well recently for fantasy managers.

Arsenal didn't play last week, but they managed to stay in the top four as United didn't play either and Liverpool lost at Leicester. They have only lost three of their 12 away games and no other team has scored more goals away from home. They have lost two of their last three games, but only Chelsea and Liverpool have scored more goals.

Alexis Sanchez is still the best performing player for fantasy managers, but the rest of the Arsenal team haven't done too much recently.

This is a game both teams really need to win and I think Arsenal might just get the better of a very close game.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday March 5

Tottenham Hotspur v Everton

1.30pm GMT, White Hart Lane, London

Spurs won easily at home to Stoke last week to move back into second place, but they're 10 points behind Chelsea. They're the only team still unbeaten at home and no other team has conceded less goals at home. They have only won two of their last five games, but they have kept clean sheets in five of their last seven and have conceded less goals than any other team.

Harry Kane, Christian Eriksen, Dele Alli and all of the Spurs defenders look like pretty good choices for fantasy managers at the moment.

Everton won 2-0 at home to Sunderland last week, but they're still highly unlikely to break into the top six despite their current good run. They have only won four of their 13 away games and have conceded more than they have scored on the road, but they are unbeaten in their last five away games. They have taken 21 points in their last nine games and have kept six clean sheets in those games.

Romelu Lukaku and Seamus Coleman are the Everton players most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment with the rest of their defenders worth a look too.

I think Everton will make things fairly tough for Spurs and might just manage to get a point from this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Sunderland v Manchester City

4pm GMT, Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Sunderland lost 2-0 at Everton last week and they're still propping up the other 19 teams. Only Palace have lost more home games with only Swansea conceding more goals at home and only Boro scoring less. They have only taken five points in their last nine games with only Boro and Hull scoring less goals.

Jermain Defoe is the only Sunderland player fantasy managers should even consider.

City didn't play last week and dropped back to third place when Spurs beat Stoke, but they do have a game in hand now. They have won more away games than any other team and no other team has scored more goals away from home. They have won their last three games and kept clean sheets in two of them while scoring eight goals.

Raheem Sterling and Kevin de Bruyne have looked good in recent weeks and Sergio Aguero might just do the business with Gabriel de Jesus on the injured list for the moment.

I think City will have too much firepower for struggling Sunderland and should win with a few goals to spare.

Prediction: 1-3

Monday March 6

West Ham United v Chelsea

8pm GMT, London Stadium, London

West Ham came from behind to get a 1-1 draw at Watford last week, but they lost Michail Antonio to a red card. They have lost as many games as they have won at home with only Boro scoring less goals at home and only Swansea and Sunderland conceding more. They have taken 11 points from their last six games, but they have conceded more goals than any other team in the top half of the table.

With Antonio suspended Andy Carroll could be the West Ham player to watch for fantasy managers if he's fit to play.

Chelsea won yet again last week when they beat Swansea 3-1 to extend their lead at the top of the table to 10 points. Only City have won more away games than Chelsea and no other team has conceded less goals on their travels. They have won 17 of their last 20 games and no other team has scored more goals, but they haven't kept a clean sheet in their last four games.

With Chelsea's defenders faltering recently it looks like Eden Hazard, Diego Costa and Pedro could be the players to have for fantasy managers.

I think Chelsea will do like so many others have and get the better of West Ham on their own pitch which appears to be too big for them.

Prediction: 1-3

Wednesday March 8

Manchester City v Stoke City

8pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City play for the second time in this Gameweek and two wins should not only see them move into second place, but they could actually close the gap on Chelsea. They have only lost one of their 12 home games, but unusually for City they have taken more points and scored more goals away from home. A home win against a team who struggle against the top sides should be just what they need to improve their home record.

With two games this week City players are at a premium for fantasy managers and the ones I mentioned above should certainly be considered and maybe their defenders too.

Stoke will probably find their home game against Boro a lot easier than a trip to City considering how their trip to Spurs went last week. They have lost seven of their 13 away games and have lost five of their last six on the road. The chances are after this game they will have lost six out of seven away from home.

Despite playing twice this week Stoke players could undo the good of their Boro game against City for fantasy managers.

I can't see anything other than a comprehensive City win in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

That's it for this week.

See you next week.
