Predictions For Premier League Gameweek Seven

It's that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did fairly well last week with three perfect outcomes, three correct outcomes and four incorrect. Those results keep me on top of my predictions league as you can see from the table below.

Friday September 30

Everton v Crystal Palace

8pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton came crashing back to earth last week when they lost away to Bournemouth to end their unbeaten start to their league campaign. They have taken seven points from their three home games with only Spurs and Leicester conceding less goals at home. They need a win to get back on track, but it won't be easy in this game.

Romelu Lukaku still looks like the Everton player most likely to succeed for fantasy managers.

Palace came from two down to win away to Sunderland last week and that was their third league win in a row. They have won two of their three away games and have climbed to seventh in the table. This will be a tough test, but they could easily get something from it.

Christian Benteke looks more likely each week to do well for fantasy managers while Wilfried Zaga and Andros Townsend have done well too.

This game could go either way and I think a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Saturday October 1

Swansea City v Liverpool

12.30pm BST, Liberty Stadium, Swansea

Swansea lost at home to City last week and that was their fourth defeat in their last five league games. They have only taken one point from their three home games and only the bottom two clubs have conceded more goals at home. They're in the middle of a tough run of games and they need to get some points as quickly as possible.

Leroy Fer and Gylfi Sigurdsson are the Swansea players who might make a difference for fantasy managers.

Liverpool easily disposed of 10 man Hull last week to continue to climb the table. Only City have scored more goals than them, but no other team in the top half of the table has conceded more goals. A trip to one of the teams struggling near the wrong end of the table could be just right for them while the top two play each other.

Phillippe Coutinho, Adam Lallana, Sadio Mane and Roberto Friminio are all worth considering for fantasy managers.

I think Liverpool will be too strong in attack for Swansea and will win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 1-3

Hull City v Chelsea

3pm BST, KCOM Stadium, Hull

Hull were well beaten again last week and had a player sent off for the second game in a row too. They have only taken one point from their last four games and have lost their last two at home. They're letting in too many goals at the moment and will do well to get anything from this game.

Robert Snodgrass is by far the best fantasy performer in the Hull team and is certainly worth considering.

Chelsea were well beaten away to Arsenal last week and slipped further behind the leaders. They have only taken one point in their last three games and conceded seven goals in those games. A trip to a newly promoted team should be what they need to get back on track.

Diego Costa is the best fantasy option in the Chelsea team with Eden Hazard possibly worth considering too.

I think Hull will give Chelsea a run for their money, but Chelsea will edge a close game.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunderland v West Bromwich Albion

3pm BST, Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Sunderland looked to be heading for their first win of the season last week when they led 2-0 at home to Palace, but they ended up losing 3-2. They have lost all three of their home games with only Stoke conceding more goals at home. It looks like being a long hard season for them and they desperately need to get their first win.

Jermain Defoe continues to impress for fantasy managers despite playing with the team at the foot of the table.

West Brom got a point away to Stoke last week and have moved into the top half of the table. They have only conceded two goals away from home and no other team can beat that at this stage. They will fancy their chances against a team who look like their number could finally be up.

Ben Foster and Gareth McAuley have done well for fantasy managers while Solomon Rindon and Nacer Chadli might be worth a mention too.

I can see this being a very tight affair and a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Watford v Bournemouth

3pm BST, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford came crashing back to Earth on Monday night when they lost 2-0 away to Burnley. They have lost two of their three home games, but they did win their last home game against United. They haven't had too many problems scoring goals, but only four other teams have conceded more goals than them.

Etienne Capoue and Roberto Pereyra both look like good choices for fantasy managers while Troy Deeney and Odion Ighalo could be considered too.

Bournemouth put an end to their bad run with a hard earned 1-0 win at home to Everton last week. They have only taken one point away from home though and have scored less goals away from home than any other team. They could find this game a hard task against a Watford team who are scoring quite freely.

Some of the Bournemouth defenders have done well for fantasy managers as they often contribute in attack, but it is a risk to pick them.

I think Watford will put the Burnley result behind them and win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 3-1

West Ham United v Middlesbrough

3pm BST, Olympic Stadium, London

West Ham lost 3-0 at home to Southampton last week to drop into the bottom three. They have lost their last four games and conceded 14 goals in the process. They have conceded more goals than any other team and they need to turn things around quickly.

Despite their poor run both Michail Antonio and Dimitri Payet are doing quite well for fantasy managers.

Boro started the season quite well, but they have lost their last three games. I thought they were the most likely of the promoted teams to beat the drop, but I might have to change my mind if their current form continues. Their only win so far came away from home and they might just fancy their chances against a West Ham team who are struggling badly.

I can't see any Boro players to make a difference for fantasy managers right now.

Neither team are exactky setting the world alight at the moment, but I think West Ham might just edge this one.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunday October 2

Manchester United v Stoke City

12pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United bounced back last week with a very good 4-1 win at home to Leicester. They have won four of their six league games and only three other teams have scored more goals than them. A home game against struggling Stoke offers them the perfect chance to possibly close the gap on some of the teams ahead of them.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic still looks like the best fantasy bet in the United team while Marcus Rashford, Juan Mata and Chris Smalling might not be the worst purchases either.

Stoke looked like getting their first win of the season last week, but they had to settle for a point in a 1-1 draw at home to West Brom. They have only taken one point away from home and only West Ham have conceded more goals than them. They badly need to get their first win of the season, but it will be a tough task in this game.

I can't see any Stoke players worth recommending to fantasy managers right now.

I think United should have more than enough to win this game with a few goals to spare.

Prediction: 3-0

Leicester City v Southampton

2.15pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester were well beaten away to United last week and are still in the bottom half of the table. They have taken all of their points at home and no other team has conceded less goals at home. They have struggled badly away from home though and need to continue their good form at home or they could be in for a tough time.

Jamie Vardy has been the best of the Leicester players so far for fantasy managers while Islam Slimani could be worth considering too.

Southampton won 3-0 away to West Ham last week for their second win in a row. They have kept clean sheets in their last two games and only three teams have conceded less goals than them. A trip to the champions isn't an easy task, but they definitely have a chance of getting something from this game.

Southampton's defenders have looked quite good recently while Dusan Tadic and Charlie Austin aren't doing too badly for fantasy managers either.

I think Southampton have looked good recently and might just manage to get a point from this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Manchester City

2.15pm BST, White Hart Lane, London

Spurs won 2-1 away to Boro last week and moved up to second in the table. They're still unbeaten and have conceded less goals than any other team. If they're going to keep pace with City they could do with the three points in this game, but it won't be an easy task.

The Spurs defenders are all looking good for fantasy managers at the moment while Heung-Min Son is on fire at the moment.

City won 3-1 away to Swansea last week to maintain their 100% record in the league. They have scored more goals at home and away than any other team and only two other teams have conceded less goals. If they can win this game they will open up a lead of least five points on the teams chasing team.

Sergio Aguero is a must have for fantasy managers while Kevin de Bruyne and Raheem Sterling are more or less must haves too.

This game could go either way, but I think a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 2-2

Burnley v Arsenal

4.30pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley had a very good win at home to Watford on Monday night to move four points clear of the bottom three. All of their points so far have come at home and only two other teams have conceded less goals at home. If they're going to stay up that home form will be absolutely crucial for them.

Steven Defour hasn't done too badly for fantasy managers and Tom Heaton hasn't done too badly either.

Arsenal looked very good in beating Chelsea 3-0 last week and moved into third place as a result. Only City have taken more points away from home and no other team has conceded less goals on their travels. If Arsenal are going to challenge for the league this is the type of game they need to win, but it will be far from easy.

Akexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott are looking very good for fantasy managers right now while the Arsenal defenders are doing quite well too.

I think Arsenal should be strong enough to win this game by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 1-3

That's it for this week.

See you next week.
