Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 32

It's that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. Last week didn't go too well for me with only four correct outcomes and seven incorrect. As a result I've fallen further behind the leader in my Predictions League, but I still have every chance of catching him with seven weeks to go as you can see from the table below.

Saturday April 11

Swansea City v Everton

12.45pm BST, Liberty Stadium, Swansea

Swansea won 3-1 at home to Hull on Saturday to strengthen their hold on eighth place in the league. They have won eight and only lost four of their 16 home games and can be a real handfull at home. They have been in good form in recent weeks with four wins in their last six league games.

Ki Sung-Yueng has been the Swansea player most likely to perform for fantasy managers in recent weeks.

Everton won at home to Southampton on Saturday to move 11 points clear of the relegation zone with only seven games to play and they must surely be safe now. They have lost nine of their 16 away games though and only three other teams have lost more games on the road. They have won their lasr three games though and have kept clean sheets in five of their last 10.

Everton have improved defensively in recent weeks with Leighton Baines, Phil Jagielka and Seamus Coleman all worth considering for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game which could go either way and I have a feeling it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Southampton v Hull City

3pm BST, St. Mary's Stadium, Southampton

Southampton were beaten away to Everton on Saturday and their Champions League chances are over, but they can still qualify for the Europa League. They have won nine of their 16 home games and only Chelsea have a better defensive record at home. They have only won twice in their last seven games though and have failed to score in four of those games.

Southampton's defenders are still a good option for fantasy managers with their excellent defensive record.

Hull were beaten by Swansea on Saturday and are only two points above the bottom three with some very tough games to finish their season. They have only won twice in their 16 away games and have only taken two points from their last six games on the road. Relegation has to be a real concern for them with their upcoming fixtures and only two points in their last five games.

I can't see any Hull players to recommend to fantasy managers right now.

I think Southampton should be good enough at home to take the three points.

Prediction: 2-0

Tottenham Hotspur v Aston Villa

3pm BST, White Hart Lane, London

Spurs were disappointing in their 0-0 draw away to Burnley last week and their chanes of finishing in the top four are now incredibly slim. They have taken 24 points from their last 10 home games, but only West Brom have conceded more goals at home. Since beating Arsenal in early February they have taken only 11 points from seven games and that run has put a real dent in their top four ambitions.

Harry Kane remains by far the best fantasy choice in the Spurs team.

Villa lost away to United last Saturday, but they got a very important point at home to QPR on Tuesday night. They have lost 10 of their 16 away games and seven of their last eight on the road and they're the lowest scorers away from home too. They have a three point gap over the bottom three, but they have played a game more than most of the other teams in trouble.

Christian Benteke has found some form at just the right time for Villa and could be worth considering for fantasy managers.

This is a game both teams could do with a win in and I think Spurs will get one over on their old manager.

Prediction: 2-1

Sunderland v Crystal Palace

3pm BST, Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Sunderland got a very important win at home to Newcastle on Sunday and those three points have given them a lifeline in their fight to avoid the drop. That was their first win in eight games and they failed to score in five of those games too. They have only won three of their 16 home games and they're the lowest scorers at home with only West Brom conceding more goals at home.

I can't see any Sunderland players who might make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Palace had a great win at home to City on Monday night and they're safe from relegation worries with seven games still to play. They have won four of their last five games and have a real chance to finish in the top half of the table. They have only lost five of their 16 away games with only five teams scoring more away goals than them and they're all in the top six.

Glenn Murray, Wilfried Zaha, Yannick Bolasie, and Jason Puncheon have all done well for fantasy managers in recent weeks.

Sunderland really need to get something from this game, but I think Palace are playing well enough at the moment to win the game.

Prediction: 1-3

West Bromwich Albion v Leicester City

3pm BST, The Hawthorns, Birmingham

West Brom were well beaten at home to QPR last Saturday, but they still have seven points to spare over the bottom three. They have lost three of their last four games and conceded nine goals in those games. They have lost seven of their 16 home games and no other team has lost more games or conceded more goals at home.

West Brom players haven't done a lot to write home about for fantasy managers in recent weeks.

Leicester got a very important win at home to West Ham last week to give them some hope in their fight to avoid the drop. It was their first win in nine games and they will have to win at least half of their remaining eight games to have any chance of staying up. They have lost 12 of their 16 away games and only QPR have conceded more goals on the road.

Leicester players haven't done too well for fantasy managers this season, but Esteban Cambiasso has probably been the most consistent of them.

This looks like it could be another very close game and I have a feeling it will end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

West Ham United v Stoke City

3pm BST, Upton Park, London

West Ham were beaten yet again last week away to the bottom club and the second half of their season has been decidedly worse than the first half. They have only won twice in their last 14 games and have lost four of their last five. They have won eight of their 16 home games, but have only managed to win two of the last seven at home.

None of the West Ham players have managed to make an impression for fantasy managers in quite a while.

Stoke ran Chelsea close last week, but they were beaten when Asmir Begovic made a rare mistake to hand Chelsea the winning goal. They had been on a good run, but they have now lost their last three games in a row. They have only won five of their 16 away games and no other team in the top half of the table has scored less goals away from home.

Stoke players haven't exactly made themselves must haves for fantasy managers recently either.

It's not easy to see where this game will go and a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Burnley v Arsenal

5.30pm BST, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley got a good point at home to Spurs last week, but they're still in the relegation zone. They have only won once in their last 10 games and they have failed to score in four of their last five. They have only lost six of their 16 home games though, but only Sunderland have scored less goals at home.

Burnley players haven't really set the fantasy world alight recently.

Arsenal had a very good win at home to Liverpool last week and moved up to second as a result. They have won their last seven league games in a row and have an FA Cup semi final coming up next week too. They have won their last three away games by the same 2-1 scoreline and only Chelsea have won more games on the road.

Olivier Giroud has done very well for fantasy managers in recent weeks while Mesut Ozil, Santi Cazorla, Alexis Sanchez and Aaron Ramsey should all be considered too, but it has to be remembered Arsenal have no game next week.

I think Burnley will give Arsenal a run for their money, but Arsenal will continue their winning streak and take all three points.

Prediction: 0-2

Sunday April 12

Queens Park Rangers v Chelsea

1.30pm BST, Loftus Road, London

QPR took four points from two away games in the last week, but they're still in the relegation zone with only six games left to play. Before taking those four points they had lost nine of their previous 10 games and they need to continue that improvement. They have only won five of their 16 home games, but they're the highest scorers at home and away of all the teams in the relegation battle.

Charlie Austin has been the best fantasy performer in the QPR team this season and Matt Phillips has done very well in recent weeks.

Chelsea just about managed to win at home to Stoke last week and they only need 15 points from their last eight games to win the league. They're unbeaten in their last 10 games with seven wins and three draws and a continuation of that form will be good enough to win them the league. They have taken more points away from home than any other team and they're the highest scorers on the road too.

Eden Hazard is the must have player in the Chelsea team for fantasy managers and Loic Remy might not be a bad bet with two goals in the last two games and Diego Costa injured.

QPR need to get something from this game, but I think Chelsea will be too good for their dodgy defence and take the three points.

Prediction: 1-3

Manchester United v Manchester City

4pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United got a good win at home to Villa last week and moved above City into third place. They have won their last five games in a row and kept clean sheets in three of them too. They have taken more points at home than any other team and only Arsenal have scored more goals at home.

Wayne Rooney and Juan Mata have done well for fantasy managers in recent weeks while Ander Herrera and Marouane Fellaini have done quite well too.

City were beaten yet again away to Palace on Monday night and dropped back to fourth place with their chances of retaining the title as good as gone. They have only won four of their last 11 league games and could find themselves in a battle for fourth place with the teams below them if that form doesn't improve. Only Chelsea have more points and more goals away from home though and City will feel they have a chance in this game no matter what their form has been recently.

City players haven't done well for fantasy managers recently, but surely David Silva, Sergio Aguero and Yaya Toure will come good again before the end of the season.

Local derbies are hard to predict and both teams need a result to try to finish second which makes me think a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 2-2

Monday April 13

Liverpool v Newcastle United

8pm BST, St. James's Park, Newcastle

Liverpool were well beaten away to Arsenal last week and their chances of a top four finish are now very slim. They had been on a very good run before losing to United and Arsenal and they need to rediscover that form if they are to have any hope of making the top four. They have only won half of their 16 home games and they're the lowest scorers at home in the top seven.

Liverpool players haven't done too well for fantasy managers recently, but Raheem Sterling, Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson and Phillippe Coutinho could all do well in this game.

Newcastle were beaten yet again last week away to Sunderland, but they must surely be safe from relegation. They have lost their last four games, but the nine point gap to the bottom three should see them survive with a little bit to spare. They have only won three of their 16 away games and only the bottom three have conceded more goals on the road.

I can't see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers.

Liverpool need to get back on track and I think they will do just that in this game.

Prediction: 3-0

That's it for this week.

See you next week.

  1. If I aint wrong Arsenal have 9 matches on thro including Fa and cl games. This is awesome. This reminds me of the 97-98 season when the gunners won 14 matches in a row to clinch the epl.I doubt Arsenal can win the epl this time because ,imho, the so ,is smart and pragmatic.Against Arsenal and MU,he will probably be satisfied with a point.
As for Burnley, they would have noted how CP foiled MC. Speed is crucial in the final 3rd. If Arsenal play like MC ,passing endlessly instead of running at defenders with the ball, they could draw or even lose.
Btw,expect 2 lines of defences as in the CP game.If Arsenal are clinical they will win.

    1. Burnley have beaten City and drawn with Spurs at home and kept a clean sheet in both games. They have to be treated with respect, but their lack of firepower will prove their undoing I think.

  2. MC are not a bad team overnight. Form is temporary but class is permanent.
MC have lost 4 awy matches in arrow. This can't go on for a team of the stature of MC.
I expect them to turn up for the Mu game.
A draw will be the probable result but I aint going to be surprised if they were to win 1-0.
I blame the CP game on the ref who did not give the blues a penalty. Error prone refs shd be made to watch videos where they got the decisions wrong,

    1. City were already 2 down before the penalty decision, but I do think they are more than capable of getting at least a point off United.
