Predictions For Premier League Gameweek Seven

It's that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did quite well last week with perfect scoreline, six correct outcomes and three incorrect. That means I'm still top of my predictions league as you can see below. It's not too late to join my predictions league and you can do so here with the code FD20D-AVD after you have made your predictions

Saturday October 4

Hull City v Crystal Palace

3pm BST, KC Stadium, Hull

Hull haven't won in the league since the opening day and haven't kept a clean sheet since that game either. Only three teams have conceded more goals than Hull and only Everton have conceded more goals at home. They're slipping towards the wrong end of the table despite playing well and need to put that right with a win.

Nikica Jelavic has been the Hull player most likely to perform for fantasy managers so far.

Palace have won their last two league games in a row and are still unbeaten since Neil Warnock took the reins. They seem to be posing more of an attacking threat than last season and will finish comfortably in mid table if they continue to play as there are doing at the moment.

Both Mile Jedinak and Jason Puncheon look like decent and reasonably priced choices for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game and a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 2-2

Leicester City v Burnley

3pm BST, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester had looked very good so far this season up until their 2-0 defeat at Palace last week. They're still unbeaten at home after drawing with Everton and Arsenal and beating United. They look like the most likely of the newly promoted clubs to stay up and will get a chance to show that in this game.

Leonardo Ulloa has had a great start to the season and is the best fantasy choice among the Leicester players.

Burnley haven't scored a goal since the first game of the season and were well beaten at West Brom last week. They're rooted to the foot of the table and unable to find a goal which is a very dangerous combination. As it stands they look destined for relegation unless something changes quickly.

Burnley defenders had being doing well until last week and are still worth considering as they cost so little.

I think Leicester should be good enough to win this game by a couple of goals at least.

Prediction: 2-0

Liverpool v West Bromwich Albion

3pm BST, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool have only taken two points from their last four games and are already nine points behind the leaders after only six games. They had defensive problems last season, but their strike force saved them time after time. They need to find some goals quickly and at home in particular where they have only scored three in their three games.

Reaheem Sterling still looks like the best fantasy bet in the Liverpool team with Steven Gerrard always worth considering and Daniel Sturridge a possibility too when he is fully fit.

West Brom won their second league game in a row last week and are a point above Liverpool in the table. They have four points from three away games despite only scoring one goal on their travels. It won't be an easy task for them away to Liverpool, but they will feel they have a chance judging on the current form of both teams.

Saido Berahino is rather hit and miss for fantasy managers with 25 of his 33 points coming in only two of his six games, but he could be worth a punt with Craig Dawson and Graham Dorrans possibly worth considering too.

Despite their recent poor run I think Liverpool should be good enough to win this game.

Prediction: 2-0

Sunderland v Stoke City

3pm BST, Stadium of Light, Sunderland

Sunderland still haven't won a league game, but they have drawn five of their six games. They're unbeaten at home after three fairly tough home games, but they need to get their first win under their belts. They're finding goals hard to come by with only three teams scoring less goals than Sunderland so far.

Vito Mannone is again proving a good fantasy buy and Seb Larsson isn't doing too badly either.

Stoke got their second win of the season at home to Newcastle on Monday night and they were their first home points too. They are unbeaten away from home so far and have won away to the Champions too. Only three teams have scored less goals than Stoke, but only Southampton have conceded less than them.

Ryan Shawcross is the best performing fantasy player from the Stoke team so far while their other defenders aren't doing too badly either.

This looks like another tight game to me and I have a feeling Sunderland will get yet another draw.

Prediction: 0-0

Swansea City v Newcastle United

3pm BST, Liberty Stadium, Swansea

Swansea had a great start to their season, but have taken only one point in their last three games despite playing well. They have kept three clean sheets in their six games so far and will fancy their chances of doing so again in this game. They're a good team who are hard to beat and will be strong favourites to beat a struggling Newcastle team.

Gylfi Sigurdsson and Nathan Dyer are the Swansea players most like to get fantasy points with their defenders faring well too.

Newcastle haven't won in their opening six games and are only off the bottom of the table because they have scored more goals than Burnley. They have failed to score in four of their six games and in all three of their away games. Their bad run has stretched all the way back to January and it's surely only a matter of time before Alan Pardew is shown the door.

I can't see any Newcastle players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

This game looks like it should be a home win all the way.

Prediction: 2-0

Aston Villa v Manchester City

5.30pm BST, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa have lost their last two games by the same 3-0 scoreline and it doesn't get any better for them as they get to play the reigning champions. Villa have done well to get 10 points so far considering they have only scored four goals in their six games. They will be glad when this game is over after four very tough games in a row.

The Villa defenders did well before their current run of tough games and could be a good bet after the international break.

City are finding their feet in front of goal, but they're still not the force they were last season with Yaya Toure in particular far from his best. They have taken seven points from their three away games though and only Chelsea have scored more goals than them so far. They didn't have the best night at home to Roma on Tuesday and need a win to get back on track.

Both Sergio Aguero and David Silva are looking pretty good for fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Villa will struggle in this game too and City will win by a couple of goals.

Prediction: 0-2

Sunday October 5

Manchester United v Everton

12.00pm BST, Old Trafford, Manchester

United are up into the top half of the table after a very narrow victory at home to West Ham last week. They're still far from the finished product and their confidence isn't high, but they do possess an awful lot of attacking flair. Despite losing their opening game at home only Chelsea have more home goals than United and they will be favourites to win this game.

Angel di Maria and Robin van Persie look like the best fantasy choices in the United team with Wayne Rooney suspended.

Everton have only won once in their first six games and find themselves only two points above the relegation zone. They have the worst defensive record in the league, but only Chelsea have scored more goals than Everton. They are unbeaten away from home though, but could be tired after a long trip home from their Europa League game on Thursday night.

Leighton Baines and Romelu Lukaku are the Everton players most likely to succeed for fantasy managers at the moment.

This could be a very close game with a few goals too and I think it might just end in a draw.

Prediction: 2-2

Chelsea v Arsenal

2.05pm BST, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea are unbeaten in the league with 16 points in their opening six games and they're the highest scorers too. They're looking very good at this early stage to take the title and a win over Arsenal would shorten their odds even more. They have a 100% home record in the league but they did show a vulnerable side at home to Schalke in their drawn Champions League game.

Diego Costa and Cesc Fabregas are the must have Chelsea players for fantasy managers with all of their defenders and Eden Hazard worth having too.

Arsenal are also unbeaten in the league, but four draws in their opening six games sees them six points behind Chelsea already. They had a very good win in the Champions League in midweek and look like they could be finding some good form. They struggled badly away to the top teams last season and need to do a lot better in those games this season.

Danny Welbeck looks like a very good fantasy purchase at the moment with Alexis Sanchez worth considering too.

This has the makings of a very good game and I think Arsenal will be good enough to be the only unbeaten team in the league afterwards.

Prediction: 1-2

Tottenham Hotspur v Southampton

2.05pm BST, White Hart Lane, London

Spurs got a very good point away to Arsenal last week, but they haven't won any of their last four league games. They have only two points from their two Europa League games too and Mauricio Pochettino could be feeling some pressure at the moment. He had a huge impact very quickly at Southampton, but it seems to be taking a little longer at Spurs.

Nacer Chadli continues to impress for Spurs and could be worth buying for fantasy managers.

Southampton have had a great start to the season and have won their last four games in a row. The exit of Pochettino to Spurs hasn't been a problem with Ronald Koeman doing so well from day one and Southampton find themselves second in the table. This could be seen as a grudge match with Koeman bringing his team to the club of his predecessor.

Graziano Pelle is a very good fantasy option with Ryan Bertrand and Nathaniel Clyne good options too.

I think Southampton are playing well enough to get a narrow victory in this game.

Prediction: 1-2

West Ham United v Queens Park Rangers

4pm BST, Upton Park, London

West Ham were a little unlucky to lose away to United last week and beat Liverpool in their previous game. They haven't kept a clean sheet yet though and they need to improve defensively if they're going to finish well above the relegation zone. That win against Liverpool was their only home win after they lost their first two home games.

Believe it or not Stewart Downing is still the best fantasy bet in the West Ham team and could be worth taking a punt on.

QPR have lost all three of their away games and conceded 10 goals in the process. They're in the relegation zone and only Everton have conceded more goals than QPR so far. If they're going to stay up they will have to shore up at the back and improve their away form too.

I still can't see any QPR players to interest fantasy managers.

West Ham should be good enough at home to beat a QPR team who really haven't travelled well so far.

Prediction: 2-0

That's it for today.

See you today.
