Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 32

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I did reasonably well last week with six correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes to leave me in fifth place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

When it comes to my choice of captain this week it’s not an easy choice to make, but the chances are I will opt for Heung-Min Son. With seven teams having extra games next week the players from United, Southampton, Arsenal, Newcastle, Leicester, Brighton and Burnley are looking like good options. I’ll be looking to fill my team with as many players as possible who have that extra game next week.

Friday April 8

Newcastle United v Wolverhampton Wanderers

8pm BST, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle lost 5-1 away to Spurs last week and they’re now only seven points above the bottom three, but they’re still looking fairly safe. They have taken 11 points from their last five home games, but only three other teams have conceded more goals on their own ground. They have lost their last three games, but they were all away from home and only three other teams have conceded more goals.

With two home games next week Newcastle players such as Allan Saint-Maximin, Joe Willock and Ryan Fraser could all be good options for fantasy managers.

Wolves won 2-1 at home to Villa last week and they’re just about managing to keep themselves in the race for a top four finish. They have won five of their last seven away games with only the top three taking more points on the road. They have won three of their last four games, but no other team in the top half of the table has scored less goals.

I’m not sure there are any Wolves players doing enough to interest fantasy managers at the moment.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Saturday April 9

Everton v Manchester United

12.30pm BST, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton lost 2-1 away to West Ham and 3-2 away to Burnley last week and they’re now only one point above the relegation zone. They have won two of their last four home games and it’s only their home form which is keeping them out of the bottom three, but their next three home games are all very difficult. They have lost six of their last seven games and they failed to score in four of those defeats.

With extra games to play before the end of the season Richarlison might be a good option for fantasy managers, but any Everton player is risky given their current form.

United drew 1-1 at home to Leicester last week, but they’re still only three points off the top four despite dropping to seventh place. They lost their last away game to City, but they were unbeaten in seven away games before that and only the top three have scored more goals on their travels. That defeat against City was their only defeat in their last 11 games, but they drew five of those games and Leicester are the only team in the top half of the table to have conceded more goals.

Bruno Fernandes remains the best of the United players for fantasy managers with Jadon Sancho worth considering too.

I think Everton’s woes will continue with United taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 1-3

Arsenal v Brighton And Hove Albion

3pm BST, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal lost 3-0 away to Palace last week and that defeat saw them drop out of the top four on goal difference. They have won three of their last four home games with only the top two taking more points at home. They have lost two of their last three games and they failed to score in those two defeats.

Bukayo Saka is still the Arsenal player to have for fantasy managers while their defenders and keeper are worth considering too if they can improve on their performance against Palace.

Brighton drew 0-0 at home to Norwich last week, but they’re still only three points off the top half of the table despite their recent bad run of results. They have lost their last two away games, but they have taken more points away from home than they have at home. They have only taken one point from their last seven games and they failed to score in six of those games.

I can’t see any Brighton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

I think Arsenal will get back to winning ways with a couple of goals to spare in this game.

Prediction: 2-0

Southampton v Chelsea

3pm BST, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton drew 1-1 away to Leeds last week and they’re only one point off the top half of the table going into this game. They have lost their last two home games after going unbeaten in the previous 10 and no other team has drawn more games at home. They have only taken one point from their last four games and they conceded nine goals in those games.

James Ward-Prowse and Che Adams are the Southampton players who can make an impression for fantasy managers.

Chelsea lost 4-1 at home to Brentford last week and they look likely to finish in third place now. They have won their last three away games with only City taking more points and conceding less goals on their travels. They had won five games in a row before losing to Brentford and they have a run of games coming up which should mean they finish comfortably in third place.

With extra games to play Chelsea players such as Mason Mount, Kai Havertz, Antonio Rudiger and Reece James could all do very well for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a close game with Chelsea probably winning by a single goal.

Prediction: 1-2

Watford v Leeds United

3pm BST, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford lost 2-0 away to Liverpool last week, but they’re still only three points from the relative safety of 17th place. They have lost their last eight home games with no other team taking less points or conceding more goals at home. They have lost four of their last six games and they conceded 14 goals in those games with only Leeds and Norwich conceding more goals.

Cucho Hernandez is the Watford player who has looked the most likely to score points for fantasy managers recently.

Leeds drew 1-1 at home to Southampton last week and they now have six points to spare over the bottom three. They won their last away game after losing the previous three and no other team team has conceded more goals on the road. They have taken seven points from their last three games, but no other team has conceded more goals.

Raphinha remains the only Leeds player who looks likely to make a difference for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a close game with Leeds probably managing a narrow victory.

Prediction: 1-2

Aston Villa v Tottenham Hotspur

5.30pm BST, Villa Park, Birmingham

Villa lost 2-1 away to Wolves last week, but they’re still only one point off the top half of the table. They have only won once in their last six home games, but five of their last eight games are at home. They have lost their last three games after winning the previous three with no other team in the bottom half of the table scoring more goals.

Phillippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey are still looking like good choices for fantasy managers despite not doing much in their last couple of games.

Spurs won 5-1 at home to Newcastle last week and that victory moved them into the top four on goal difference. They have won five of their last eight away games and they have scored 11 goals in their last four games on the road. They have won six of their last eight games and they scored 24 goals in those games with only the top three scoring more goals.

Heung-Min Son, Harry Kane, Dejan Kulusevski and Matt Doherty are all in great form for fantasy managers and they have a very good run of games coming up.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams  and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this game end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Sunday April 10

Brentford v West Ham United

3pm BST, Brentford Community Stadium, London

Brentford won 4-1 away to Chelsea last week to give themselves a nine point cushion over the bottom three and almost guarantee their Premier League survival. They have only won once in their last five home games with only four other teams scoring less goals on their own ground. They have won three of their last four games and they scored 10 goals in those games.

Ivan Toney is the Brentford player who can make a difference for fantasy managers given his recent form.

West Ham won 2-1 at home to Everton last week and they’re still only three points off fourth place. They have only taken one point from their last four away games, but they will be hopeful of getting something from this game. They have taken 14 points from their last eight games, but they will have to do better in their remaining games to have any hope of finishing in the top four.

Jarrod Bowen came back from injury with a bang last week and he’s definitely a player for fantasy managers to seriously consider again.

I think this will be another very close game and the chances are the spoils will be shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Crystal Palace

3pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester drew 1-1 away to United last week and that point was just enough to keep them in the top half of the table. They are unbeaten in four home games and they have a good run of home games coming up. They have taken 10 points from their last five games and seven of their last 10 games are against teams below them.

Both James Maddison and Harvey Barnes are looking very good for fantasy managers at the moment and they have extra games to play too.

Palace won 3-0 at home to Arsenal last week and that win moved them above Leicester on goal difference. They are unbeaten in their last five away games, but they drew three of them with only Brighton drawing more games on their travels. They have taken 11 points from their last five games and they scored 10 goals in those games while only conceding two.

Wilfried Zaha, Conor Gallagher and Jean-Philippe Mateta are the Palace players of interest to fantasy managers.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams and the chances are the game will end all square.

Prediction: 2-2

Norwich City v Burnley

2pm BST, Carrow Road, Norwich

Norwich drew 0-0 away to Brighton last week, but they probably have to win six of their last eight games to stay up. They have lost their last three home games and they conceded 10 goals in those games with only Norwich conceding more goals on their own ground. They have only taken two points from their last eight games and no other team has scored less goals with only Leeds conceding more.

Teemu Pukki is the only Norwich player for fantasy managers to even consider.

Burnley lost 2-0 at home to City, but then won 3-2 at home to Everton last week to get within one point of moving out of the bottom three. They have only lost one of their last four away games, but they drew two of them with only Brighton drawing more games away from home. They had lost four games in a row before beating Everton, but they will more than likely move out of the relegation zone if they win this game.

I’m still not sure there are any Burnley players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

This is a huge game for two teams at the wrong end of the table and I think Burnley might just manage a narrow win.

Prediction: 1-2

Manchester City v Liverpool

4.30pm BST, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City won 2-0 away to Burnley last week to stay one point ahead of Liverpool going into this game. They have won eight of their last nine home games with no other team scoring more goals at home. They have taken 17 points from their last eight games which wound normally be very good, but it has meant Liverpool have almost caught them.

Kevin de Bruyne is the City player to have for fantasy managers while all of their defenders and keeper are good choices too along with Raheem Sterling, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden once they avoid rotation.

Liverpool won 2-0 at home to Watford last week and they know they will go to the top of the table if they win this game. They have won their last four away games and they only conceded one goal in those games with no other team scoring more goals on the road. They have won their last 10 games and they kept clean sheets in eight of them with no other team scoring more goals and only City conceding less.

Mohamed Salah might have gone slightly off the boil recently, but he’s still the best of the Liverpool players for fantasy managers while all of their defenders and keeper are very good choices too along with Sadio Mane, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz.

This is a huge game which could possibly decide the destination of the Premier League title, but the chances are neither team will get the decisive result they want.

Prediction: 2-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
