Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 25

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too well with my midweek predictions with only three correct outcomes and six incorrect outcomes which means I stay in fourth place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

My picks of Kevin de Bruyne and Jarrod Bowen both did very well last week and they should do well again this week along with the obvious choice for captain of Mohamed Salah. Phillippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey are looking good too as is James Ward-Prowse and an eye needs to be kept on players who play twice next week too. I think I’ll probably opt for Salah as my fantasy captain unless I use my wildcard and bring in someone with a better fixture this week (de Bruyne). It also has to be remembered both Chelsea and Arsenal don’t play this week, but Arsenal do play twice the week after.

Saturday 12 February

Manchester United v Southampton

12.45pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United drew 1-1 away to Burnley in midweek and that point meant they dropped to sixth in the table. They have won four of their last five home games and they have a fairly good run of home games coming up. They have only won two of their last five games, but they have only lost once in their last 11.

With two games this week Bruno Fernandes and Cristiano Ronaldo look like very good options for fantasy managers.

Southampton came from behind to win 3-2 away to Spurs in midweek and that win was enough to move them into the top half of the table. They have won two of their last three away games and they scored seven goals in those games, but no other team has conceded more goals on the road. They have only lost one of their last seven games, but they haven’t kept a clean sheet in 12 games.

I have being tipping James Ward-Prowse for a few weeks now and along with Armando Broja he looks like a very good choice for fantasy managers.

I think this looks like it’s going to be a very close game with United probably winning narrowly.

Prediction: 2-1

Brentford v Crystal Palace

3pm GMT, Brentford Community Stadium, London

Brentford lost 2-0 away to City in midweek and they’re now only six points above the bottom three. They have lost three of their last four home games with only Watford losing more games on their own patch. They have lost their last five games and they conceded 14 goals in those games with only four other teams conceding more goals.

I’m not sure there are any Brentford players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

Palace drew 1-1 away to Norwich in midweek and they’re only two points above Brentford going into this game. They have drawn their last two away games, but only three other teams have taken less points on their travels. They haven’t won in four games and they conceded eight goals in those games, but three of their next four games are against teams below them in the table.

Conor Gallagher, Michael Olise and Odsonne Edouard are all worth considering for fantasy managers and they’re all available at a good price too.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams with a draw being the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Everton v Leeds United

3pm GMT, Goodison Park, Liverpool

Everton lost 3-1 away to Newcastle in midweek and they’re now only two points above the relegation zone. They have only taken four points from their last seven home games and they conceded 15 goals in those games. They have only won one of their last 15 games and they need to halt their slide very soon before they end up in the bottom three.

I can’t see any Everton players who can make a difference for fantasy managers at the moment.

Leeds came back from 3-1 down to draw 3-3 away to Villa in midweek and they’re only six points above the bottom three. They have taken four points from their last two away games, but they have conceded 15 goals in their last four games on the road and no other team has conceded more goals on the road. They have conceded 23 goals in their last eight games with only two other teams conceding more goals.

Raphinha is the Leeds player most likely to make an impression for fantasy managers while Daniel James has done well recently.

I think this will be another very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see Leeds take the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Watford v Brighton And Hove Albion

3pm GMT, Vicarage Road, Watford

Watford lost 1-0 away to West Ham in midweek and they’re now only one point off the foot of the table. They have lost their last five home games with no other team taking less points or conceding more goals on their own ground. They have only taken two points from their last 10 games and they failed to score in their last three with only three other teams conceding more goals.

Emmanuel Dennis has been the Watford player to have for fantasy managers, but I’m not so sure how well he will do with Roy Hodgson in charge.

Brighton didn’t play in midweek, but they drew their previous game 1-1 away to Leicester and this is their first of two games this week. They are unbeaten in their last five away games, but they drew four of them and no other team has drawn more games away from home. They are unbeaten in six games, but they drew four of them and no other team has drawn more games.

With two games to play Leandro Trossard, Neal Maupay and Roberto Sanchez might be of interest to fantasy managers.

I think Watford will continue to slide down the table with Brighton taking all three points.

Prediction: 0-1

Norwich v Manchester City

5.30pm GMT, Carrow Road, Norwich

Norwich drew 1-1 at home to Palace in midweek, but they dropped back into the bottom three as Newcastle went ahead of them. They have taken four points from their last two home games, but no other team has scored less goals at home and they will be hard pushed to get anything from this game. They have taken seven points from their last three games after losing the previous six, but no other team has scored less or conceded more goals.

I still can’t see any Norwich players to recommend to fantasy managers despite their recent improvement.

City won 2-0 at home to Brentford last week to maintain their nine point lead at the top of the table. They drew their last away game after winning the previous seven and no other team has conceded less goals on the road. They have taken 40 points from their last 14 games and no other team has conceded less goals with only Liverpool scoring more.

Kevin de Bruyne and Riyad Mahrez are the attacking players to have in the City team for fantasy managers while all of their defenders and keeper are very good choices too.

I can’t see anything other than a comfortable City win in this game.

Prediction: 0-3

Sunday 13 February

Burnley v Liverpool

2pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley came from behind to draw 1-1 at home to United in midweek, but they’re still sitting at the foot of the table. They are unbeaten in their last six home games, but they drew five of them with only Southampton drawing more games on their own patch. They haven’t won in 10 games, but they drew seven of them with only Brighton drawing more games and only Norwich scoring less goals.

Wout Weghorst showed enough against United to suggest he could do well for fantasy managers.

Liverpool won 2-0 at home to Leicester in midweek to stay nine points behind City at the top of the table, but they do have a game in hand. They won their last away game after failing to win the previous three with no other team scoring more goals away from home. They have won their last three games with no other team scoring more goals and they play three of the bottom five in their next three games.

With Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane back they’re both very good choices for fantasy managers with all of Liverpool’s defenders and keeper as well as Diogo Jota well worth picking too.

I think Liverpool will add to Burnley’s woes by winning this game with a couple of goals to spare.

Prediction: 0-2

Newcastle United v Aston Villa

2pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle won 3-1 at home to Everton in midweek and that win was enough to take them out of the relegation zone. They have only lost one of their last seven home games, but they drew four of them with only Watford conceding more goals at home. They’re unbeaten in four games and they have won their last two, but only Norwich have conceded more goals.

Allan Saint-Maximin is the Newcastle player who can make a difference for fantasy managers.

Villa led 3-1 at home to Leeds in midweek, but they had to settle for a 3-3 draw and they’re still only one point off the top half of the table. They have won three of their last five away games, but no other team has lost more games on the road. They have only won once in their last five games and they conceded 10 goals in those games, but they play two of the bottom four in their next two games.

Phillippe Coutinho and Jacob Ramsey have been in very good form recently for fantasy managers and they have a good run of games coming up.

I think this will be another very close game and the chances are the spoils will be shared.

Prediction: 2-2

Tottenham Hotspur v Wolverhampton Wanderers

2pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs led at home to Southampton in midweek, but they ended up losing 3-2 and that defeat saw them drop to seventh place in the table. They lost their last home game after taking 13 points from their previous five games at home and they have three away games in a row after this one. They have lost their last two games and they conceded seven goals in their last three games.

With Heung-Min Son back from injury he’s the best option in the Spurs team for fantasy managers with Harry Kane worth considering too.

Wolves lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal in midweek to put an end to a very good run of results for them. They have won their last three away games and they only conceded one goal in those games with no other team conceding less goals on their travels. They had taken 13 points from their previous five games before losing to Arsenal with only City conceding less goals.

The Wolves defenders and keeper have all done well recently for fantasy managers, but they have a tough run of games coming up.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams and I wouldn’t be surprised to see this match end in a draw.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v West Ham United

4.30pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester lost 2-0 away to Liverpool in midweek and that defeat saw them drop into the bottom half of the table. They have taken 10 points from their last five home games and they only play one of the top eight in their last eight games on their own patch. They have only taken four points from their last five games and they conceded 12 goals in those games with no other team in the bottom half of the table scoring more goals.

James Maddison is still the Leicester player to have for fantasy managers.

West Ham won 1-0 at home to Watford in midweek and that win was enough to keep them in the top four. They have won two of their last three away games with only the top three taking more points on the road. They had lost two games in a row before beating Watford and Southampton are the only team in the top half of the table to have conceded more goals.

Jarrod Bowen is the West Ham player to have for fantasy managers while Michail Antonio, Said Benrahma and Aaron Cresswell are all worth considering too.

I think this will be a close game, but the chances are West Ham will emerge with the three points.

Prediction: 1-2

Tuesday 15 February

Manchester United v Brighton And Hove Albion

8.15pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United play their second home game of the week and they could do with taking six points from these two games. If they can win their two home games this week they will move back into the top four. Their next four games are all against teams well below them in the table and they will be aiming to win them all.

As I said already Bruno and Ronaldo are the United players to have for fantasy managers this week and Marcus Rashford could do well too.

Brighton play their second away game of the week and this game should be tougher than their trip to Watford. They have taken more points and scored more goals away from home than they have at home. They play the bottom two either side of this game and anything they get from this one will be a real bonus for them.

The Brighton players I mentioned above are all worth considering this week, but maybe not long term.

I think it won’t be easy to separate these two teams and a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
