Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 13

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too badly last week with five correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which left me still in third place in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Yet again this week I’ll be picking Mohamed Salah as my captain as he’s so far ahead of every other player at the moment. Conor Gallagher didn’t let me down again last week and my decision to go heavily on expensive and high performing defenders paid dividends too. The toughest thing to do at the moment seems to be finding a striker performing consistently and all of my choices are struggling.

Saturday November 27

Arsenal v Newcastle United

12.30pm GMT, Emirates Stadium, London

Arsenal’s good run came crashing to an end when they lost 4-0 away to Liverpool last week, but they’re still in fifth place. They have taken 13 points from their last five home games and no other team has taken more points at home. The defeat last week was their first defeat in nine games and they kept five clean sheets in those games.

Arsenal’s defenders and keeper might look good again for fantasy managers after last week’s drubbing while Emile Smith-Rowe is a very good option.

Newcastle twice came from behind to draw 3-3 at home to Brentford last week, but it wasn’t enough to keep them from dropping to the foot of the table. They’re one of two teams without an away win with only four other teams conceding more goals on their travels. They’re the only team without a win and no other team has conceded more goals.

Despite being at the bottom of the table Allan Saint-Maximin and Callum Wilson can still make a difference for fantasy managers.

I think Arsenal will bounce back and take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Crystal Palace v Aston Villa

3pm GMT, Selhurst Park, London

Palace drew 3-3 away to Burnley last week and they’re still in the top half of the table. They’re one of two teams still unbeaten at home, but no other team has drawn more games on their own patch. They’re unbeaten in seven games, but they drew five of them with no other team drawing more games.

Conor Gallagher continues to impress for fantasy managers and I thought Palace’s defenders and keeper were good options too until they conceded three goals to Burnley.

Villa got life under Steven Gerard off to a good start last week with a 2-0 win at home to Brighton and that moved them four points above the relegation zone. No other team has taken less points or lost more games away from home with only two other teams conceding more goals on the road. They had lost five games in a row before last week’s win and they have a tough run of games coming up.

Emiliano Martinez is probably the best of the Villa players for fantasy managers, but others may begin to impress under their new manager.

I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see the spoils shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Liverpool v Southampton

3pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool won 4-0 at home to Arsenal last week and that was enough to move them above West Ham into third place. They’re one of two teams still unbeaten at home and they have a very good run of home games coming up. No other team has scored more goals while only the two teams above them have conceded less and they don’t play any of the big six in their next eight games

Mohamed Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are the must have Liverpool players for fantasy managers while Sadio Mane and all of their defenders and keeper are good choices too.

Southampton lost 2-1 away to Norwich last week and that defeat cost them a chance to move into the top half of the table. They have only won once in their six away games and only four other teams have scored less goals on their travels. They had taken 10 points from four games before their defeat last week and only four other teams have conceded less goals.

Tino Livramento still looks like he can do well for fantasy managers, but maybe not in this game while Adam Armstrong has looked good recently too.

I can’t see anything other than a comprehensive Liverpool victory in this game.

Prediction: 2-0

Norwich City v Wolverhampton Wanderers

3pm GMT, Carrow Road, Norwich

Norwich came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Southampton last week and that win was enough to lift them off the foot of the table. Only Newcastle have taken less points at home while only Newcastle and Watford have conceded more goals on their own patch. They have won their last two games after only taking two points from their previous 10 games with no other team scoring less or conceding more goals.

I’ve said for a while now that I can’t see any Norwich players to interest fantasy managers, but Teemu Pukki is doing his best to prove me wrong.

Wolves won 1-0 at home to high flying West Ham last week and they’re now only one point off fifth place. They lost their last away game against Palace, but they took 10 points from their previous four away games. They have taken 16 points from their last seven games and they play two of the bottom three in their next two games.

Raul Jiminez is the Wolves player most likely to impress for fantasy managers while Jose Sa and Lee-Chan Hwang should be considered too.

I think Wolves will continue their impressive run by taking the three points in this game.

Prediction: 0-2

Brighton And Hove Albion v Leeds United

5.30pm GMT, AMEX Stadium, Brighton

Brighton lost 2-0 away to Villa last week and they have now fallen to ninth place as their impressive start to the season has faded. They have haven’t won in their last three home games and only three other teams have scored less goals at home. They haven’t won in seven games, but they drew five of them and only three other teams have scored less goals.

Leandro Trossard is the Brighton player to watch for fantasy managers.

Leeds lost 2-1 away to Spurs last week and they’re only one place and two points above the bottom three. Only four other teams have taken less points away from home and they face the top three in their next three away games. Only three other teams have scored less and conceded more goals and they have only scored more than one goal in a game twice so far which is a big change from last season.

If Raphinha is fit to play he’s the Leeds player fantasy managers should be including in their teams.

I don’t think there will be too much between these two teams and a draw is probably the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 1-1

Sunday November 28

Brentford v Everton

2pm GMT, Brentford Community Stadium, London

Brentford led twice away to Newcastle last week, but they had to settle for a 3-3 draw to stay four points above the relegation zone. They have only taken one point in their last five home games with only Newcastle taking less points on their own ground. Their draw last week was their first point in five games and they conceded 11 goals in those games.

Ivan Toney is probably the Brentford player most likely to get some points for fantasy managers given their upcoming games.

Everton lost 3-0 away to City last week, but they’re still only one point off the top half of the table. They have only taken one point in their last four away games and they conceded nine goals in those games. They have only taken two points from their last six games and they failed to score in their of them whilst conceding 12 goals.

I’m not so sure there are any Everton players to recommend to fantasy managers at the moment.

This is another game which could go either way and again I think the spoils will most likely be shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Burnley v Tottenham Hotspur

2pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley drew a see-saw game 3-3 at home to Palace last week and that draw meant they stayed in the bottom three. They have taken five points from their last three home games and they scored six goals in their last two. They are unbeaten in four games, but they drew three of them and they scored nine goals in those games.

Maxwel Cornet looks like he could be a good choice for fantasy managers while Chris Wood shouldn’t be written off either.

Spurs came from behind to win 2-1 at home to Wolves last week and they’re now only one point off fifth place. They have only taken four points from their last five away games with only two other teams scoring less goals on their travels. The win last week was their first win in four games and only Norwich have scored less goals.

I’m still not sure there are any Spurs players doing enough to interest fantasy managers, but given their upcoming fixtures Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son are very tempting.

I think Spurs might just get the better of a tight game to take the three points.

Prediction: 0-1

Leicester City v Watford

2pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester lost 3-0 at home to Chelsea last week, but they’re still only one point off the top half of the table despite their recent poor run. They have only won once in their last five home games and they conceded 10 goals in those games. They have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last three games, but they have a good run of games starting with this one.

Leicester players haven’t done too much recently for fantasy managers, but given their upcoming games Jamie Vardy could be worth a shout.

Watford had a fantastic 4-1 victory at home to United last week and that result moved them four points clear of the relegation zone. They have won two of their last four away games, but they have failed to score in four of their six away games. Only four other teams have conceded more goals and they have failed to score in each of their seven defeats so far.

Both Ismailia Sarr and Emmanuel Dennis have done well at times for fantasy managers, but they have only returned points in four games each.

I think Leicester might just get a much needed win in this game, but it will be close.

Prediction: 2-1

Manchester City v West Ham United

2pm GMT, Etihad Stadium, Manchester

City won 3-0 at home to Everton last week to stay in second place with Chelsea three points ahead of them. No other team has taken more points at home and only Chelsea have scored more goals at home. They have won four of their last five games and they scored 11 goals in those games with only Liverpool and Chelsea scoring more goals and only Chelsea conceding less.

Joao Cancelo and Bernardo Silva seem to be the only City players who are playing and performing week in and week out for fantasy managers.

West Ham lost 1-0 away to Wolves last week, but they managed to hold on to their place in the top four and should still be in the top four after this game regardless of the outcome. They have won four of their six away games with only Chelsea taking more points away from home. They had won four games in a row before losing to Wolves, but they have a very tough run of games starting with this one.

Jarrod Bowen is the West Ham player to have impressed the most for fantasy managers in recent games as both Michail Antonio and Said Benrahma have gone off the boil.

City will be strong favourites to win this game, but I wouldn’t be surprised to see West Ham get a point.

Prediction: 1-1

Chelsea v Manchester United

4.30pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea won 3-0 away to Leicester last week to keep their three point lead at the top of the table. No other team has taken more points or scored more goals at home with only City conceding less goals on their own patch. They have taken 16 points from their last six games and they scored 18 goals in those games as well as keeping four clean sheets.

Chelsea’s defenders and keeper are all doing exceptionally well for fantasy managers at the moment, but we still have to see the best from their attacking players.

United were beaten 4-1 away to Watford last week which saw them draw to eighth place and cost Ole Gunnar Solskjaer his job. After more than a full season unbeaten away from home they have lost two of their last three away games and they conceded eight goals in those games. They have only taken four points from their last seven games with only the bottom two conceding more goals.

United still have some very good attacking players with Cristiano Ronaldo, Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford all worth considering, but maybe not in this game.

I think Chelsea will keep their three point gap at the top of the table by taking full points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.
