Sunday July 26
All games kick off at 4pm
Arsenal v Watford
Emirates Stadium, London
Arsenal lost 1-0 away to Villa last week and their European ambitions through the league ended with that defeat. They are unbeaten in eight home games and they kept clean sheets in four of them. They have only won once in their last four games and they don’t have an awful lot to play for in this game.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is probably the only Arsenal player of real interest to fantasy managers as long as he plays in this game.
Watford lost 4-0 at home to City last week and that defeat saw them drop into the relegation zone on goal difference ahead of their final game. They have lost their last five away games and they only scored one goal in those games. They have lost their last two games and they conceded seven goals in those games with only two other teams conceding more goals.
I can’t see any Watford players who might make a difference for fantasy managers in this game.
Watford need something from this game and they will probably give Arsenal a run for their money, but I think Arsenal will take the three points.
Prediction: 2-1
Burnley v Brighton And Hove Albion
Turf Moor, Burnley
Burnley won 2-0 away to nine man Norwich last week and they moved up to ninth in the table. They are unbeaten in seven home games, but they drew four of those games. They have only lost one of their last 15 games and they kept clean sheets in eight of those games.
Nick Pope remains the best of the Burnley players for fantasy managers while Chris Wood can do a job for them too.
Brighton drew 0-0 at home to Newcastle last week and that point was enough to mathematically insure their Premier League survival for another season. They are unbeaten in six away games, but they drew five of those games and they kept clean sheets in three of them. They haven’t won in four games and they don’t have much to play for in this game with their safety assured.
I can’t see any Brighton players to recommend to fantasy managers for this game.
I can’t see too many goals in this game, but any there are will probably go Burnley’s way.
Prediction: 1-0
Chelsea v Wolverhampton Wanderers
Stamford Bridge, London
Chelsea lost 5-3 away to Liverpool last week, but they only need a point from this game to qualify for next season’s Champions League. They have won their last five home games and they kept clean sheets in three of them, but they have lost five home games this season. They have won seven of their last 11 games and only the top two have scored more goals, but no other team in the top half of the table has conceded more goals.
Christian Pulisic and Willian are the Chelsea players who could do well for fantasy managers while Olivier Giroud shouldn’t be ignored either.
Wolves won 2-0 at home to Palace last week and they’re in sixth place going into their last game. They have only lost one of their last seven away games with only Liverpool conceding less goals on their travels. They have only lost two of their last 13 games and they kept clean sheets in eight of those games.
Raul Jiminez and Matt Doherty have been impossible to ignore all season long for fantasy managers and there’s no reason that should change in this game.
This looks like being a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it end all square.
Prediction: 1-1
Crystal Palace v Tottenham Hotspur
Selhurst Park, London
Palace lost 2-0 away to Wolves last week and they’re lucky the season is just over considering their recent form. They have lost their last three home games and no other team has scored less goals at home. They have lost their last eight games and they failed to score in seven of them with no other team scoring less goals.
I can’t see any Palace players to interest fantasy managers for this game.
Spurs won 3-0 at home to Leicester last week and sixth place still isn’t beyond them. They have only won two of their last nine away games and they have only won four of their 18 away games so far. They have taken 13 points from their last five games and they kept clean sheets in four of those games.
Harry Kane has been in great form for fantasy managers in recent weeks and Heung-min Son has done pretty well too.
Given Palace’s recent form I think Spurs should be able to take all three points in this game.
Prediction: 0-2
Everton v Bournemouth
Goodison Park, Liverpool
Everton won 1-0 away to Sheffield United last week, but they can’t finish any higher than their current eleventh place. They are unbeaten in 11 home games, but they drew six of those games with only Newcastle drawing more games on their own ground. They have only won once in their last five games and they only scored four goals in those games.
Richarlison is probably the Everton player most likely to do well for fantasy managers in this game.
Bournemouth lost 2-0 at home to Southampton last week, but they will still avoid the drop if they win this game and Villa and Watford both lose. They have lost their last nine away games, but they have to win this game to have any chance of staying up. They have only taken four points in their last nine games with only Villa conceding more goals.
I don’t see any Bournemouth players to recommend to fantasy managers despite their need for goals in this game.
I think Everton will get the better of a Bournemouth team who cannot settle for anything less than a win.
Prediction: 2-1
Leicester City v Manchester United
King Power Stadium, Leicester
Leicester lost 3-0 away to Spurs last week, but they will still qualify for the Champions League if they win this game. They have taken 10 points from their last four home games and they kept clean sheets in each of those games with only three other teams taking more points at home. They have only won three of their last 13 games, but only the top two have scored more goals.
Jamie Vardy is the Leicester player most likely to make an impression for fantasy managers in this game.
United drew 1-1 at home to West Ham last week and they will qualify for the Champions League as long as they don’t lose this game. They have won their last three away games without conceding a goal and only Liverpool have conceded less goals on their travels. They are unbeaten in 13 games and they kept clean sheets in eight of those games with only the top two conceding less goals.
Anthony Martial, Bruno Fernandes, Mason Greenwood and Marcus Rashford have all done very well in recent games for fantasy managers, but their fixture list is beginning to tell.
I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised if it ended in a draw.
Prediction: 1-1
Manchester City v Norwich City
Etihad Stadium, Manchester
City won 4-0 away to Watford last week and they will want to finish their season on a high at home. They have won their last six home games and they scored 21 goals in those games with no other team scoring more or conceding less at home. They have won their last four games and they scored 16 goals in those games while only conceding one and they need three goals in this game to reach 100 league goals for the season.
If they’re playing Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez are the City players most likely to make a difference for fantasy managers.
Norwich lost 2-0 at home to Burnley last week and this will be their last game in the Premier League as they are Championship bound. They have only taken one point in their last nine away games and they only scored one goal in those games with no other team taking less points on the road. They have lost their last nine games and they only scored one goal in those games with no other team scoring less or conceding more goals.
I can’t see any Norwich players to recommend to fantasy managers.
I can’t see anything other than a comfortable City victory in this game.
Prediction: 5-0
Newcastle United v Liverpool
St. James’s Park, Newcastle
Newcastle drew 0-0 away to Brighton last week and they have finished comfortably in mid-table which was probably their goal for the season. They have only lost one of their last seven home games, but they drew four of those games with no other team drawing more goals at home. They haven’t won in five games and their chances of winning this game are pretty slim too.
I can’t see any Newcastle players who might make an impression for fantasy managers in this game.
Liverpool won 5-3 at home to Chelsea last week as they finally received the Premier League trophy. They have only won once in their last five away games, but no other team has conceded less goals away from home. Despite slackening off since clinching the title they have still taken 10 points in their last five games with only City scoring more goals and no other team conceding less.
The Liverpool players to choose will depend on who plays as the have the title wrapped up, but Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah are always good bets.
I think Liverpool will look to finish their season on a high and should do so by taking the three points.
Prediction: 1-3
Southampton v Sheffield United
St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton
Southampton won 2-0 away to Bournemouth last week and they have managed to finish comfortably in mid-table too. They have lost four of their last seven home games with only Norwich taking less points and conceding more goals on their own patch. They’re unbeaten in six games, but they have taken an awful lot more points away from home than they have at home.
Danny Ings, Nathan Redmond and Stuart Armstrong have all done well for fantasy managers, but they tend to do their best work away from home.
United lost 1-0 at home to Everton last week and that defeat ended their hopes of qualifying for European football for next season. They haven’t won in five away games and they only scored one goal in those games with no other team drawing more games away from home. They have lost their last two games without scoring and they’re the lowest scorers in the top half of the table, but only the top two have conceded less goals.
United’s defenders and keeper have been fantastic for fantasy managers this season and they could do well in this game too.
I think this will be a very close game and I wouldn’t be surprised if United took all three points.
Prediction: 1-2
West Ham United v Aston Villa
London Stadium, London
West Ham drew 1-1 away to United last week and that point was enough to insure their Premier League survival for another season. They have won three of their last five home games and only six other teams have scored more goals at home. They have taken seven points and scored eight goals in their last three games to move clear of the relegation battle, but only three other teams have conceded more goals.
Michail Antonio has been in fantastic form for fantasy managers and he could be the one to have in this game.
Villa won 1-0 at home to Arsenal last week to move out of the bottom three, but only on goal difference. They have drawn two of their last three away games and only Newcastle have conceded more goals on their travels. They have taken seven points and only conceded one goal in their last three games to give themselves a very real chance of avoiding the drop.
I think Villa will do all they can to get something from this game, but West Ham will deny them.
I can’t see any Villa players who might make a difference for fantasy managers in this game.
Prediction: 2-1
That’s it for this season.
See you next season.
