Predictions For Premier League Gameweek 12

It’s that time of the week again when I attempt to predict the outcomes of the upcoming Premier League games. I didn’t do too well last week with five correct outcomes and five incorrect outcomes which saw me lose a little ground in my predictions league. Here’s a look at how the top five in that league stands.

Friday November 8

Norwich City v Watford

8pm GMT, Carrow Road, Norwich

Norwich lost 2-0 away to Brighton last week and they’re only two points above Watford at the foot of the table. They have lost their last two home games and they conceded eight goals in those two games with only Southampton conceding more goals at home. They have only taken one point from their last six games and they failed to score in four of those games with only Southampton conceding more goals.

None of the Norwich players have done anything for fantasy managers for so long that it’s impossible to pick them, but maybe Teemu Pukki, Todd Cantwell or Emiliano Buendia might shine against a Watford team who haven’t won a game yet.

Watford lost 2-1 at home to Chelsea last week and they’re still rooted to the foot of the table without a win to their name. Only Norwich and Everton have taken less points away from home and only Norwich have scored less goals on the road with only Newcastle conceding more. Despite not having won a game Southampton and Norwich have lost more games, but no other team has scored less goals than Watford.

I usually can’t see any Watford players to recommend to fantasy managers, but maybe Gerard Deulofeu might do well in this game.

This is a tough one to call between the bottom two clubs, but I think home advantage might just be enough for Norwich to take the three points.

Prediction: 2-1

Saturday November 9

Chelsea v Crystal Palace

12.30pm GMT, Stamford Bridge, London

Chelsea won 2-1 away to Watford last week and they’re only two points behind second placed City. They won their last two home games and kept clean sheets in both of those games after failing to win the previous three at home. They have won their last five games and they scored 13 goals in those games with only City and Leicester scoring more goals.

Chelsea players are doing very well for fantasy managers at the moment with Tammy Abraham, Mason Mount (if he’s fit to play) and Christian Pulisic all very good options.

Palace lost 2-0 at home to Leicester last week, but they’re still only two points off fifth place. They have won as many games as they have lost away from home and only six other teams have scored less goals away from home. They haven’t won in their last three games and they failed to score in two of those.

Patrick van Aanholt and Jordan Ayew are the Palace players to watch for fantasy managers.

Palace won’t make things easy for Chelsea, but I think the home team will win narrowly.

Prediction: 2-1

Burnley v West Ham United

3pm GMT, Turf Moor, Burnley

Burnley lost 3-0 away to Sheffield United last week and they’re now only four points above the bottom three. They have won three of their five home games and they kept clean sheets in each of those wins. They have lost their last three games and they conceded nine goals in those games with only the bottom three teams conceding more goals.

Dwight McNeil is the Burnley player who could do well for fantasy managers with Chris Wood a possibility too if he’s passed fit to play.

West Ham lost 3-2 at home to Newcastle last week as their slide down the table continued. They have only lost one of their five away games, but they have drawn three of them. They haven’t won in five games and they conceded 10 goals in those games.

Andriy Yarmolenko and Sebastien Haller are both worth considering for fantasy managers, but West Ham have gone off the boil in recent weeks.

I think Burnley will get the better of a very close game to take the three points.

Prediction: 1-0

Newcastle United v Bournemouth

3pm GMT, St. James’s Park, Newcastle

Newcastle won 3-2 away to West Ham last week to move four points clear of the bottom three. They have only won once in their five home games with no other team scoring less goals at home and no other team conceding less either. They have taken seven points from their last four games with only Watford scoring less goals.

I’m not sure there are any Newcastle players to interest fantasy managers, but Jonjo Shelvey could be that man if he can put in another performance like last week.

Bournemouth won 1-0 at home to United last week and that win was enough to move them within one point of fifth place. They have won as many games as they have lost away from home, but they have failed to score in their last two away games. The win against United was their first win in five games and they failed to score in three of those games, but they have kept clean sheets in their last three games.

Bournemouth’s defenders and keeper have done well in recent weeks for fantasy managers while Callum Wilson, Harry Wilson and Josh King aren’t the worst choices either.

I wouldn’t be surprised to see this game end with the spoils shared.

Prediction: 1-1

Southampton v Everton

3pm GMT, St. Mary’s Stadium, Southampton

Southampton came very close to getting a point at City last week, but a late goal saw them come away empty handed. No other team has taken less points or conceded more goals at home with only Newcastle scoring less goals. They have only taken one point from their last six games and they conceded 21 goals in those games with no other team conceding more goals.

Danny Ings has done quite well for fantasy managers at a good price so far, but it’s not easy to recommend Southampton players.

Everton came from behind to get a point at home to Spurs last week, but they’re still only one place above the bottom three. They have lost their last four away games and no other team has taken less points away from home. They have only won once in their last seven games and the long term injury to Andre Gomes last week was a big blow to their season.

Lucas Digne and Richarlison are both worth considering for fantasy managers, but Everton aren’t exactly setting the world alight at the moment.

I think Southampton might just get the better of a close game between two teams who badly need points at the wrong end of the table.

Prediction: 2-1

Tottenham Hotspur v Sheffield United

3pm GMT, Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, London

Spurs drew 1-1 away to Everton last week, but they’re still in the bottom half of the table with almost a third of the season gone. They have taken 10 points from their five home games with only Leicester and Newcastle conceding less goals at home. They haven’t won in four games and they’ve only kept one clean sheet in their 11 games so far.

Harry Kane is still the Spurs player to have for fantasy managers while Heung-Min Son has done very well too.

United won 3-0 at home to Burnley last week to move up to sixth in the table. They’re one of only two teams unbeaten away from home with no other team conceding less goals on the road. They have taken eight points from their last four games and they only conceded one goal in those games with no other team conceding less goals.

John Lundstram is the United player fantasy managers just can’t ignore with all of their defenders and keeper worth considering too while Lys Mousset could be a good option as a cut price striker.

I think United might surprise a few people by taking a point from this game.

Prediction: 1-1

Leicester City v Arsenal

5.30pm GMT, King Power Stadium, Leicester

Leicester won 2-0 away to Palace last week and they’re only two points behind second placed City. They’re one of only three teams unbeaten at home with only Liverpool taking more points at home and no other team conceding less goals. They have won five of their last six games and they kept clean sheets in three of those games with no other team conceding less goals.

There are so many Leicester players for fantasy managers to choose from at the moment with Jamie Vardy and James Maddison probably the pick of the bunch while all of their defenders and keeper as well as Youri Tielemans and Harvey Barnes are doing very well too.

Arsenal led at home to Wolves last week, but yet again they let a lead slip and had to settle for a 1-1 draw. They haven’t won in their last four away games with only four other teams scoring less away goals. They have only won two of their last nine games and they’re already six points off the top four.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is still the only Arsenal player of real interest to fantasy managers.

This is a big game for two teams with top four hopes and I think Arsenal might just edge it.

Prediction: 1-2

Sunday November 10

Manchester United v Brighton And Hove Albion

2pm GMT, Old Trafford, Manchester

United lost 1-0 away to Bournemouth last week and they’re only in the top half of the table on goal difference. They have only won once in their last four home games, but only Leicester and Newcastle have conceded less goals on their own patch. They have only won once in their last six games and they failed to score in three of those games with only six other teams scoring less goals.

Marcus Rashford is still the best fantasy choice in the United team, but Anthony Martial and Daniel James aren’t the worst options either.

Brighton won 2-0 at home to Norwich last week to move into the top half of the table. They have only taken one point and scored one goal in their last four away games with only three other teams scoring less goals on their travels. They have won three of their last four games though and kept clean sheets in three of their last six.

Matt Ryan and Lewis Dunk look like the best bets for fantasy managers in the Brighton team while Neal Maupay and Aaron Connolly could be worth a shot too.

I think United should get a much needed win in their quest to climb the table.

Prediction: 2-0

Wolverhampton Wanderers v Aston Villa

2pm GMT, Molineux Stadium, Wolverhampton

Wolves came from behind to get a point away to Arsenal last week and they’re only in the bottom half of the table because of their inferior goal difference. Only Southampton and Norwich have taken less points at home and no other team has drawn more games on their own ground. They’re unbeaten in their last six games, but they drew four of those games and no other team has drawn more games.

Raul Jiminez is the best of the bunch in the Wolves team for fantasy managers.

Villa led for a very long time at home to Liverpool last week, but two very late goals saw them get nothing from the game. They have lost four of their five away games with only five other teams conceding more goals away from home. They lost their last two games to City & Liverpool and they have to travel to both United and Chelsea very soon.

John McGinn and Jack Grealish are the stand out Villa players for fantasy managers while Anwar El Ghazi might not be the worst choice either.

I think Wolves should be strong enough at home to take the three points in this game.

Prediction: 3-1

Liverpool v Manchester City

4.30pm GMT, Anfield, Liverpool

Liverpool scored two very late goals away to Villa last week which kept them six points ahead of City at the top of the table. They’re the only team with a 100% record at home and only City have scored more home goals. They’re the only team unbeaten and they can extend their lead over City to nine points if they win this game.

Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino are the Liverpool players to make a difference for fantasy managers with all of their defenders worth watching too.

City had to come from behind at home to Southampton last week, but they just about managed to do so and that win kept them in second place six points behind Liverpool. They have won four of their five away games with only Chelsea scoring more goals away from home. Their defeats against Wolves and Norwich have damaged their title chances and they can’t afford to drop three points to Liverpool in this game.

Surely City will play their strongest team which should mean Kevin de Bruyne, Raheem Sterling, Sergio Aguero and David Silva could all be good options for fantasy managers.

I think this will be a very close game between the top two teams in the league and a draw is the most likely outcome.

Prediction: 2-2

That’s it for this week.

See you next week.

  1. I admire what you have done here. I like the part where you say you are doing this to give back but I would assume by all the comments that this is working for you as well.
